‘I love my job as Year Co-ordinator, as well as being a passionate History teacher. I am also in charge of looking after the rabbits kept here at Chislehurst School, which is more fun in the summer than in the winter! Outside school, I enjoy riding and competing with my horse and visiting historical buildings. I am looking forward to working with Year 9 this year, now that I know the year group really well’. Ms L. ‘I am really looking forward to working with Year 10 this year as their Year Co-ordinator. Outside of school I enjoy playing netball and I am the leader of a local scout group. I am currently studying for a Master’s degree and I am writing my dissertation on Emotional Intelligence. I teach PE and am passionate about my subject’.

Your daughter’s form tutorThe role of your daughter’s form tutor is to be a �rst port of call for any issues or questions you may have and they will always be happy to help. They have the overview of your daughter’s progress/achievement across her subjects as well as an interest in her welfare and social development.

Parents can support their daughters by providing them with quiet space for homework and revision, encouraging them to attend extra sessions and clubs and by taking an active interest in their learning.

Enhancement Days will be planned throughout the year, in conjunction with additional trips.

Focus on Attendance

There is no greater link between the number of GCSE A*-C grades your daughter will achieve at school and her attendance. 90% attendance over 5 years meanshalf a school year missed! This a�ects your daughter’s life chances and future earnings. Your daughter will have the best chance of success if she has 96%+ attendance and punctuality at school. Your daughter’s attendance will be monitored by the Year 9 & 10 team over the course of the year. Your daughter will also have weekly attendance conversations with her form tutor. There will be a range of incentives on o�er for 96%+ attendance and punctuality, including reward trips, vouchers and other prizes.

Homework and Independent Learning

Students will be set appropriate homework throughout the year and can also carry out some of the home learning tasks above. Students can develop their literacy by reading and reviewing books on the recommended reading list (obtainable from the English Department). Some students may �nd it hard to organise their homework and will need reminding as well as supervision at home. They may also need help organising their equipment in their school bagsfor the following day. The Quiet Rooms are open daily at lunchtimes for quiet study (M9 and M17) and students may also use the Library facilities.

Rewards

Students responded very well to the new rewards system last year. This academic year, we are launching ‘Success Tokens’. Students will be awarded these tokens to recognise outstanding e�ort in a piece of work.When they have collected 10 Success Tokens they must hand them in to their Year Co-ordinator, who will award a gift voucher in Assembly.
