TOEFL Preparation Programme

Entrance Examination Dates and Places

The entrance examinations will take place in six locations: Lashio, Kutkai, Muse, Manmaw (Bhamo),

Mogowng, and Myitkyina. The candidate should contact the local Baptist churches and discover the

exact place for the entrance examination.

Students can take the exam in any of these locations according to your convenience. It is your

responsibility to be on time for the exam. There will be no make-up exam for late students. The

examination date of each place is as the followings.

TOEFL Preparation Programme Youth Department

Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC)

Application Information April – November 2012

Youth Department of Kachin Baptist Convention is proud to announce third batch of TOEFL

Preparation Programme for diligent and enthusiastic young people who are hungry for higher education. The 8‐month‐long TOEFL class will be conducted on the KBC campus in Myitkyina, Kachin State, Myanmar. Maximum 20 students who meet the criteria will be selected through

selection process and will be provided with the intensive TOEFL preparation course and many others.

At

the

end

of

this

course,

the

KBCYD

will

arrange

the

TOEFL

test

for

students.

Students

who

secure

above 550 scores will be connected with prospect scholarship foundations and universities.

Please read the instructions carefully before you fill the Application Form. Note! All information supplied in this application form will be kept confidential and will only be viewed by the TOEFL Preparation Class Admissions Board.

INSTRUCTIONS! You are strongly advised to read the instructions thoroughly before you actually start to fill the

application form.

Application form is designed in fillable and editable fashion for your convenience. You can

download the form to your computer and fill it electronically and send it electronically. You can

simply type in the spaces provided just as you type in Microsoft Office. When you finish filling the

form, DO NOT forget to save the file or press “Ctrl + S” before you close the file.

Programme is eight month intensive course. If you are a diligent and enthusiastic learner, you will get the followings:

1. Your English will be improved to extent that you will be able to score above 500 in TOEFL

exam.

2. You will learn about various scholarship programmes and university admission process.

3. You will learn how to write competitive essays for scholarship applications and university

admission.

4. You will learn important global, regional, and national issues that are headlines in media.

5. You will learn knowledge that will enable you to see and analyse an issue from diverse views.

6. You will study with qualified and experienced teachers, and supplemented by English

speaking teachers.

7. TOEFL Preparation Programme is to cultivate future community leaders and the interest of

the students is prioritized in teaching and creating learning environment.



8. All the students with both weak and strong students are well cared for. One‐on‐one

counselling is also provided.

Bear in mind the followings when you fill the application form. 1. Your name must be the same as in your national registration ID card.

2. You must provide valid email address and phone number to contact you. You must also be

sure that you have internet access at least twice a week and available nearby a phone during

the selection process.

3. You must write your own essays and they must be your original ideas.

4. You must provide two recommendation letters: one academic and one professional, for

instance a responsible person from (e.g., church or NGO) who knows you well.

5. You must prepare Kyat 120,000 as registration fee, stationeries, internet, and personal

expenditures. Programme is eight months — food, accommodation, and lectures are free of

charge.

6. Application Deadline is 26th February 2011. Incomplete and late applications will not be

accepted.

7. You must

provide

all

the

academic

documents

that

validate

the

information

you

provide

in

the sections of 2.3.1 and 2.3.2 of the SECTION TWO.

8. Completed form and required documents must be sent to <[email protected]> on or

before the stated deadline.

Entrance Requirements: 1. Must have completed High School (graduate or complete 2nd year in university or equivalent

work experience is preferred).

2. Must have an Intermediate level of English as foundation.

3. Must have at least two years community working experiences. 4. Must have interests in social works and willingness to help people in their community.

5. Must submit two recommendation letters (one from academic teacher and another from a

responsible community leader) along with the completed application from.

Student Selection Process: 1. All applicants must take the standardized entrance exam and satisfy all the requirements.

2. In the entrance exam, you will be tested on four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and

writing.

The

level

of

English

in

the

entrance

exam

is

Intermediate

level.

3. Entrance examinations will be held in six locations: Lashio, Kutkai, Muse, Bhamo, Myitkyina,

and Mogong. Please choose the location where you will be able to take the entrance test.

4. The entrance exam will be any day between 1st ‐ 25th March 2012. The exact date will be

issued in due course. Please contact KBC youth leader in your nearest location.

5. Successful candidates will be notified via either phone or email or church network before the

end of March 2012.

6. Class will start from the first week of April till November 2012.



What do you need to bring? 1. Registration fee Kyat 120,000. (If you have difficulty to pay at once, you can pay in two

instalments.) Additional fees such as internet, telephone, and stationeries will be charged.

2. Bring your own bed and personal belongings.

3. Bring your study references such as Oxford Advance Learners’ Dictionary, and note books.

What are the weakness and strengths of the candidate? 5. What is your relationship to this candidate? 6. Please tell us any other information which you think we should be aware of. 7. Please write the recommendation letter in separate paper.
