To be considered foran apprenticeship you must be at least 16 years of age,available to work full time and attend classroomtraining two evenings per week for duration of thetraining. The length of training (two to five years) variesdepending on the occupation. Reliable transportationis generally required. Examples of occupations are:electricians, plumbers, police officers, steam fitters,and structural.

Of equal importance, studentswill have the opportunity to increase their social andcommunity awareness on the college campus.

Other Education/TrainingFor information about other postsecondary training atcolleges and technical schools, contact your localpublic library or local college. Many colleges haveservices for students with disabilities.

School RecordsSchool records may be needed to verify eligibility forservices as an adult. Records will be kept at schools forfive years after graduation. At the end of that time,some records are sent to MCPS Central Records to beput on microfilm. Contact the school principal if copiesof records are needed.
