ADMISSION TO M. TECH. (Part Time) COURSES

SESSION: 2013 - 2014

1. INTRODUCTION

In pursuance of the decision of the Board of Governors of the University in its meeting held on20th November, 2002, the Vice Chancellor established Regional Centres for M. Tech. coursesin its affiliated institutions. The Regional Centres established in the affiliated College are a partof the University. They are administratively, financially and academically controlled by theUniversity and degrees are awarded by the University.

2. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The eligibility criteria for admission in M. Tech. (Part Time) course, is regular B.E. / B. Tech.degree of Punjab Technical University or its equivalent with at least 50% inaggregate, preference with valid GATE score.

5. SUBMISSION OF CERTIFICATES

(a) THE ORIGINAL CERTIFICATES MUST BE PRODUCED AT THE TIME OF

ADMISSION IN THE COLLEGE OR TO BE SUBMITTED WHEN CALLED UPON TO

DO SO BY THE UNIVERSITY.

(b) Certificates in the format provided must be signed by prescribed authorities.

(c) In case of any discontinuity in studies, an Undertaking (called the GapCertificate) to the effect that the candidate was not involved in any offence orin any illegal activity and that no criminal case is pending against the

candidate in any court, should be furnished by the candidate.

6. SPONSORSHIP CERTIFICATE

The candidates sponsored for the M. Tech. (Part Time) programme by the PTU affiliatedCollege / Institute must produce his / her sponsorship certificate at the time of admissionin the allotted college.

7. NUMBER OF SEATS

The numbers of seats in each course of M. Tech. (Part-time) are as follows:

(a) Seats for faculty / candidates from the PTU affiliated College / Institute: 80%.(b) Seats for open category candidates : 20%.

If the sponsored seats remain vacant, the gap can be filled by the open categorycandidates.

8. FEE STRUCTURE

The admission fee shall be Rs. 5000/- and fee per subject shall be Rs. 6000/-. The fee isto be paid semester wise. A non refundable fee of Rs. 2000/- must be paid at the time ofseat allotment. Also, Project and Seminar will be considered as one subject andthesis fees is Rs. 10,000/-.

9. ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The admission to the courses will be through online centralized Counselling . Theadmission procedure shall be available on websitewww.ptu.ac.in.

10. DURATION OF COURSE

The duration of M. Tech. (Part Time) course shall be a minimum of three academic years(Six semesters).

12. GENERAL CONDITIONS

a. A letter from the Principal / Director must be furnished stating that thecandidate is being sponsored to get admission. The Principal / Directorshould also indicate that the candidate would not be withdrawn midway till the completion of the course.

b. There will not be any age restrictions. However, preference shall be givento those who are below 45 years of age.

c. Admission will be made on the basis of merit of qualifyingexaminations and weightage to the relevant experience in teaching (incollege affiliated PTU).

d. For faculty from the PTU affiliated college, if experience certificate hasnot been obtained from the college the candidate has to apply under opencategory.

Basis of Calculation

Total Points : 120

i. B.E. / B. Tech. Points : 100 (based on % of marks)ii. Experience (max. 5 years) : 20 (4 Points per year)

13. ANTI-RAGGING

The AICTE has issued anti-ragging guidelines vide F.No.37-3/Legal/AICTE/2009.

Sub: Prevention and prohibition of Ragging in technical Institutions, Universities including Deemed to beUniversities imparting technical education.

F.No.37-3/Legal/AICTE/2009In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 23 read with Section 10 (b),

(g), (p) and (q) of AICTE Act, 1987, the All India Council for Technical Education, hereby makes the following

Regulations:-

1. Short title and commencement

These Regulations may be called the All India Council for Technical Education (Prevention and Prohibition of

Ragging in Technical Institutions, Universities including Deemed to be Universities imparting technical education)

Regulations 2009

They shall come into force on the date of the notification.

2. Objectives

In view of the directions of the Honble Supreme Court in SLP No. 24295 of 2006 dated 16-05-2007 and in CivilAppeal number 887 of 2009, dated 08-05-2009 to prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of raggingincluding any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has theeffect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student, or indulging in rowdy orundisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or

psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student or asking anystudent to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing orgenerating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche ofsuch fresher or any other student, with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power,authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student, in all higher education institutions inthe country, and thereby, to provide for the healthy development, physically and psychologically, of all students,the All India Council for Technical Education,(AICTE) brings forth these Regulations.

ONLINE COUNSELLING PROCEDURE

PTU will hold joint online counselling for admission to 1st year M. Tech Part Time (on the basis of Valid GATE Scoreand B.Tech/B.E. with atleast 50% marks in aggregate) for colleges affiliated to PTU Jalandhar.

www.ptuaccounts.ac.in.. Enter the green number as shown in Parallel and SUBMIT the form

e. Select to participate either in 80% Quota for Sponsored Candidates (Candidates sponsored by thePTU Affiliated Colleges) or 20% Quota for Non-Sponsored Candidates.

f. Student should fill his/her genderg. Student should fill his/her qualification like +2, B.Tech /B.E/ AMIE and/or GATE & Experience if

applicable.. Student should fill his/her marks correctly.h. Please note that Your Roll no which use as a login ID for www.ptuadmissions.nic.in web

portal. Enter and reenter password (password length must be 8-12 and alphanumeric Example:

test1234) carefully. Then you will have to choose secret question and its answer, in case you wantto change Password later on. (Please remember your password and answer to Secretquestion as PTU will not be responsible for any misuse/loss of password).

i. Enter your Contact Address, City, Pin code, contact number( Landline and Mobile), and Email IDvery carefully. You will be notified about result and other important messages through SMS also.

j. If all the fields are filled correctly then press SUBMIT YOUR DETAILS button for successfulregistration.

k. Before final submission of online Registration form, Read the declaration given in the websitecarefully and give you consent to it, failing which you will not be able to complete your registration.Also please note that once you complete your registration, you will not be able to changeany details in your registration form thereafter. So you must check your information detailscarefully before final submission of your registration form.

3 CHOICE FILLING

(a) After allotment of rank, candidate will be allowed to exercise his choice and following options will beavailable in his/her login page:

Available Choices: System will provide the List of Colleges and branches thereof.

Fill Choices: Candidate can fill the College or branches of choice in order of preferences. It is inthe interest of the candidate to fill maximum available choices of colleges and branches.Candidate can also alter/rearrange/delete the filled choices.

Display filled choices: Choices entered by the Candidate will be displayed on different form so

that he/she can check the already entered information.

Print Choices: Candidate can also print the list of choices filled by him/her for record.

(b) Allotment of seat : After the choice filling period is over, all filled choices of all registeredcandidates will be considered for allotment of seats as per merit (Rank), category of the candidateand Seat Allotment Rules approved by participating University (ies).

4. RESULT DECLARATION: On the date of result declaration, candidate who gets a seat will be informed

by SMS. Alternatively candidate can logon to his/her account and check for allotment of seat. SuccessfulCandidate can take printout of provisional allotment letter of college / Branch by logging into his/heraccount from the website http://www.ptuadmissions.nic.in. The allotment of seat is purely provisionaland subject to verification of original certificates and payment of college fee etc, at the time ofreporting in the allotted institute.

5. REPORTING IN THE ALLOTTED INSTITUTE : Candidates are required to report to their respective allottedinstitutions within the specified period (as per the counseling schedule) along with the documents/testimonials/certificates and pay college fee as prescribed in the prospectus. If candidates do notreport within the specified period, their allotted seats shall be cancelled and the candidates shall not haveany claim on the seats, whatsoever. It is in the interest of the candidates to report at the earliest to theallotted college.

Other Important Instructions

1. Candidate must ensure about his/her eligibility as per Government Notifications/ Information Brochureavailable on website.

2. The Candidate are advised to go through the details thoroughly at these www.ptuadmissions.nic.in andwww.ptu.ac.inwebsites regularly for update.

3. The candidates are advised not to submit original certificates at the college at the time of admission

4. The details regarding the total number of seats in a particular college is available on the www.ptuadmissions.nic.in

5. The Candidates falling under 80% Quota for Sponsored Candidates (Candidates sponsored by the PTUAffiliated Colleges) or 20% Quota for Non-Sponsored Candidates., irrespective of whether they have beenallotted a seat or not allotted seat or could not join the allotted institution or could not participate in the earlierround can participate in the second phase of counselling

6. For 2nd & 3rd round of Counselling, candidates can deposit Rs 2000/- non refundable (if not deposited

earlier) as counselling charges in designated branches of the banks after registration. Candidates who havedeposited Counselling fee in the 1st round will not be required to deposit the fee again for subsequentrounds.

Before choice filling of second round candidates rank will be re-generated as per new registration. So rank of

candidate may vary from one round to another round of counselling. Subsequently candidates can exercise choices

as explained above
