IN ODISHA ADARSHA VIDYALAYAS(OAVs)
1. GENERAL INFORMATION.
1.1. Location of Schools
Pursuant to the Resolution No.9442 dt The 13th May, 2015 of the
School & Mass Education Department published in the Odisha Gazette
Extraordinary dt. May 16, 2015 and Addendum No. 12085
dt.16.06.2015, the Govt. of Odisha have been pleased to sanction
establishment of 111 ‘Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas’ (OAVs) in the state
in a phased manner. It is contemplated to make 100 such Vidyalayas
functional with effect from Dt. 01.04.2016. The locations of the OAVs
are as here under:

1.2 Objectives
To make qualitative secondary education available, accessible
and affordable to rural students of the State, there is a need for
establishment of high quality schools for talented rural children who
have no access to quality schools in urban areas. Keeping this in
view, the Government have decided to establish Model
Schools(Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya) in each block of the State.
1.3 Strength:
Admission in class VI to VIII shall be done during 2016-17
with the following strength:

1.4 Eligibility of candidates
The child must have passed Class/Std. V from any recognized
institution/school of the block/State for admission into Class-VI of
the OAV. Similarly, the child passing out of Class Std.-VI & VII of
the block/State can seek admission into Class-VII & Class-VIII of
the OAV respectively. But the candidate is eligible to apply only in
one block where he/she desires to take admission.
The children passing out of schools running under state
government/ICSE/CBSE are eligible for taking admission in Odisha
Adarsha Vidyalayas (Model Schools) provided that the institution
possesses the status of recognition/affiliation by the state
government.
1.5 Procedure of Admission
i. Admission to classes VI, VII, VIII shall be done through entrance
test to be conducted at block point under the direct supervision
of OAVS.
ii. The OAVS shall invite application from the eligible students for
admission into Model Schools for classes (VI, VII, VIII for the
year 2016-17) duly keeping the format of application,
documents required such as;
(a) certificate in support of date of birth (ii) class in
which she/he reading from concerned Head
Master of the school;
(b) Residential certificate from concerned Sarapanch/
Councilor/ Corporator/ Competent authority and
other required documents and other relevant
documents.
iii. The filled in applications with enclosures as mentioned in the
advertisement shall be received by the Block Education Officer

(Principal-in-charge of the OAVs) of the block with proper receipt
till the notified cut-off date.
iv. There will be an entrance test for admission of students in
Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas or in the selected venue as notified
from time to time. The Principal/Principal in Charge will intimate
the candidates about the date and venue of entrance test.
v. After the conduct of entrance test, the answer papers will be
evaluated by a team of subject teachers under the direct
supervision of DEO/BEO. The school wise Select - list/ Waiting
list will be prepared and submitted before the Collector for
approval.
vi. While preparing the select list, a waiting list of 20% seats also
shall be prepared and candidates will be admitted in the order
from the waiting list for the left over vacancies of the selection
list.
vii. After approval, the candidates name will be reflected on the
notice board of the OAV /BEO office/ DEO office/ Collector’s office
for information of the selected candidates & public at large.
viii. The Principal of Model School (Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya) of the
block shall take steps to admit selected students duly verifying
the documents/ certificates of the selected candidate and
maintain ‘Admission and Withdrawal Register’ for the school.
ix. In case of any dispute in admission, the decision of the Collector
and Chairman of Management Committee for Model Schools
(Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas) shall be final.

1.6 Conduct of examination
The entrance examination would consist of one paper with
objective type questions of subjects like Mathematics, Science,
Social Science and English with equal credit in each subject of
Class-V, VI, VII standard for entrance tests of Class-VI, VII & VIII
respectively. The questions would be in English medium only and
will be of two hours duration from 10.A.M to 12.noon. There will be
total 50 numbers of questions carrying one mark each per question.
1.7 Reservation
i. Seats shall be reserved for admission of candidates belonging
to SCs and STs as per the percentage of population of the
respective blocks. (separate sheet attached herewith for
reservation block wise)
ii. Physically Challenged students 3%(in reservation group of the
students)
iii. Preference will be given in admission to the words of OAVS
employees in priority basis.
iv. As per recommendation of the Hon'ble MLA two students
otherwise eligible (age wise and class wise) shall be admitted
in any Model School located in his/her constituency. Such
seats will be covered under un-reserved category so that the
reservation of SC/ST etc. will not be affected. The total
number will be limited to the sanctioned student strength in
each school.
v. 50% seats are to be reserved for girls in each category In case
of non-availability of students in any category; the vacancies
shall be transferred as follows and filled up accordingly.

In case there are any unfilled seats reserved for girls, the same
shall be filled by boy student of the respective category.
vi. One student shall be admitted in any Adarsha Vidyalaya (Model
School) as per the recommendation of the Hon’ble Member of
Parliament in his/her constituency. Such seat will be covered in
the respective category to which the student belongs.
vii. 5% of seats will be kept reserved for the children of the
employees of State Government and State PSUs of the
respective Blocks. Such seats will be covered in the respective
categories to which the children belong. In case of non-
availability of such children, the seats will be brought to the
general pool as per the categories.
2. PROCEDURE FOR CONDUCTING THE EXAMINATION
2.1 Control & Supervision
The Entrance Examination of 2016-17 will be conducted at the
block point in the block headquarter high school or the centre
selected by the DEO. The BEO-cum-Principal-in-charge will act as
the Centre Superintendent and remain in charge of conduct of the
examination. The DEO will be overall in charge of the district and
will prepare DR block-wise by the help of concerned BEOs, issue
admit cards through the BEOs and will directly supervise conduct of
examination smoothly in each centre, act as the Centre supervisor
of the valuation centre and take steps to publish results in time with
due approval of the Collector-cum-Chairman, OAVS.

The evaluation of Answer scripts shall be done centrally.
Select list will be published in the district website after due approval
of the Collector within 4days of the conduct of examination. The list
will also be published in the notice board of the BEO, DEO and
Collector simultaneously for wide publicity under intimation to
OAVS.
2.2 Invigilation
Keeping in view the number of applications and the
availability of rooms at the examination centre, the invigilators shall
be appointed from among teachers or local officers @ 1 Invigilator
for 30 students. Instructions to be followed by the invigilators are
given at Annexure-A.
2.3 Admission Dates
The selected students shall be admitted within dt. 25.03.2016
to Dt.31.03.2016. The school will open on Dt. 01.04.2014.
2.4 Miscellaneous
In case of any doubt or in any other matter not provided in
the preceding paragraphs, the Centre Superintendent/BEO/DEO is
empowered to take necessary decision. Other general instructions
are to be followed by all concerned as outlined in Annexure-B.
