    Background

    VSO has partnered with Adam Smith International (ASI) to help implement a DFID funded WASH project in Sierra Leone.

    The programme has a focus to training and capacity building of the local staff in the Ministry of Electricity and Water

    Resources, Health and Sanitation as well as selected local councils in IT based information, data management, data

    collection, reporting and establishing data bases. The overall purpose of this placement is to contribute to improved

    effectiveness of key central and local government WASH entities in providing leadership, coordination, policies, strategies

    and guidelines to Sierra Leones WASH Sector through effective collection, analysis, securing, using and disseminating IT-based WASH sector data and information.

    What does the role involve? Supporting the Water Information Management Unit in the Ministry of Electricity and water resources to design,

    establish, implement and train staff on IT based information management system for water points and other water

    structures

    Supporting developing the WIMU to be more customers focused through mapping, monitoring and evaluation ofwater points and other WASH structures in the country

    Training and mentoring staff of the Water Directorate on event management including conference organizationmanagement

    Training staff of the Water Directorate on general IT literacy and specific technical IT skills Supporting the Water Directorate to hold a mini conference on IT systems for the WASH sector

    Skills, qualifications and experience required

    Broad range of IT based skills including network administration, software development and maintenance, database management

    Skills in monitoring and supervising Ability to work in team and share knowledge and experience Effective communication skills and ability to establish good working relationships Ability to live and work in environment with limited infrastructure and resource Willingness to travel to different WASH facilities and in remote rural areas

    Youll be based out of Freetown, Sierra Leone and will be expected to join around November. We expect you to commit to

    at least 12 months to make a sustainable contribution to our development goals. In return, we provide you with extensive

    pre-departure training, and basic financial support which includes a local living allowance, return flights, visas and
