I have a few photos of some Orchard Bantams but I'll have to get someone to photograph the Quetero. I know there is a photo of a Rapanui around here too.

I have two lines of what I call the Green Mountain Orchard Bantam. The first one is the product of backcrossing from a prized Minohiki (saddle dragger) dam and an

outcrossed sire that was junglefowl X Minohiki. I am not certain what junglefowl was in the ancestry of the sire line as it was only listed as Sire Abunai f3.

The backcrossing takes place each generation, following Japanese tradition, the most aesthetically desireable male progeny is bred back its mother, and then

grandmother and so on. This is as I understand it, how one fixes specific traits involving the non-moulting of the saddle and retrice coverts. As there are no pure

Minohiki in the USA, this is strictly the continuation of a backcrossing experiment that was started up by Dr. Yamamoto in 1984. I've only had the birds since 1996. This

lineage of the Green Mountain Orchard Bantam will eventually be married to the second linneage:

I'll post the photos of the females after making some firewood trips in the snow as it is really coming down ..
