1. First you confirmed that your oracle is running successful by connecting with user name, password and connect string. (Connect String/Host String is must)

2. Open your Informatica CD and double click on “launch.exe” to start your

installation.

3. It will start “Welcome to Informatica” Window, click on “PowerCenter for Windows” button.

4. Then you will a window there you provide, Informatica PowerCenter “Product Key” from license file in CD and keep other same, then click “Next”, and then you will get “Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1 Setup window.

5. In “Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1 Setup” window,

• Select the options “Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1 – Client, Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1 – Server, Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1 – Repository Server, ODBC 4.20”.

• Select Destination Folder, by default it will install in C:\Program Files\Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1\, if you want to change then click on “Browse” button. Then click “Next” button.

6. Then just follow the wizard and until you finish installation. 7. At the end of installation it will ask for configuration at that time for Repository

Server and Informatica Server Setup. Select those and click finish. 8. Now it will open Configure Repository Server window. Otherwise open it from

Start� Program Files� Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1� Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1 – RepServer� Informatica Repository Server Setup.

• Give the Administrator Password as your choice (e.g. admin). Keep other settings as it is, then click OK.

9. Then go to Informatica Server Setup Application window. If you want open it

manually then open it from Start� program files� Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1� Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1 – Server� Informatica Server Setup.

• Here Click on Continue button, then “Configure Informatica Service” window opens.

10. In “Configure Informatica Service” window. Go to “Server” tab.

• Here in Server tab, provide the “Server Name”.

• Give “TCP/IP Host Address” as (Host Name i.e. Computer Name or Computer IP Address). To get Host Name go to command prompt and type “hostname” you will see your host name or computer name use this in installation process, where it needed.

• You can configure the Load Manager settings. Otherwise keep as it is.

• Keep other settings as it is, then go to “Repository” tab.

11. In “Repository” tab…

• Give Repository Name (E.g. INFAREPO).

• Give Repository User (Default: Administrator), Repository Password (Default: Administrator).

• Give Repository Server Host Name (Computer Name) which you gave in Fig:

Configure Informatica Service – “Server” tab for TCP/IP Host Address.

• Keep other setting as it is. Then go to “License” tab.

12. In “Licenses” tab…

• Here copy your license keys from license file in CD one by one, e.g. First copy “Product Key” from license file and paste in “with Key:” text box and click on “Update” button.

• Then do the same for “Connectivity Key” and “Options Key”. Copy one by one and click “Update” button.

• Go to “Compatibility and Database” tab.

13. In “Compatibility and Database” tab…

• Here set the compatibility settings as shown in fig. or select according to your choice.

• Keep “Database settings” as it is.

• Go to “Configuration” tab.

14. In Configuration tab.

• Here in session properties, set data movement mode as “ASCII” (You can select UNICODE also, but for improve performance we use ASCII).

• You can configure other settings or keep as it is.

• Then click on Apply button and click on OK button.

• Close all windows.

15. Configuration of your “Informatica Repository Server” Setup and “Informatica Server Setup” is finished.

16. Go to Start� Program Files� Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1� Informatica

PowerCenter 7.1.1 – Client� Repository Server Administration Console. 17. “Repository Server Administration Console” window opens.

• Here you right click on “Informatica Repository Servers” select option “New Server Registration” then “Register a New Repository Server” window opens.

• Here give Host Name (Computer Name) which you gave in Fig: Configure

Informatica Service – “Server” tab for TCP/IP Host Address.

• Click OK.

• Your server is registered named with hostname. 18. Then right click on your server named with host name which you registered just and

select “connect” to connect to host name. Then you will get a window “Connecting to

Repository Server Hostname”. Give Administrator Password which you gave while configuring repository server in Fig: Configure Repository Server. Then click OK. (If your server could not start then make sure that “Informatica Repository Server” service started in services).

19. After connecting to you server (hostname). Now right click on “Repositories” folder

and select option “New Repository” then “New Repository” window opens.

20. In “New Repository” window General tab.

• Give Repository Name which you gave in Fig: Configure Informatica

Service – “Repository” tab.

• You can make your repository as Global Data Repository in properties configurations, if you want to repository as local repository then don’t select that option. By default it will not select the option, keep default as it is.

• Select Creation Mode as “Create all repository Content”.

• Go to Database “Connection” tab. 21. “In Database Connection” tab.

• Select your database in “DatabaseType” (e.g. Oracle, MSSQLServer).

• Give ConnectString, DBUser, DBPassword for specific database which you selected as your “DatabaseType”.

• Then go to “Licenses” tab.

Note: Here you must provide ConnectString otherwise it won’t permit.

22. In “Licenses” tab.

• Here you copy & paste your “Product Key” in “License Key:” text box and click “Update” button.

• Do the same for “Connectivity Key” and click “Update” button.

• Do the same for “Options Key” and click “Update” button.

• Then click on “Apply” button.

• Repository creation process will start.

Note: You need at least two keys “Product Key” and “Connectivity Key”.

Notes:

• If you get any problems then make sure about Informatica services started in services. And correct hostname, repository name, Informatica server name matches in all configurations and also check your database user name, password, and connect string at database level.

• Sometimes your repository can not connect in designer, workflow manager then make sure that your repository is started in “Repository Server Administration Console”.

• You can create multiple repositories but for that you need different db user name, password.

23. As your Repository Creation process finished, your repository is created. Close the

“Repository Server Administration Console” window. 24. To Create Connections and Server Configuration, go to Start� Program Files�

Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1� Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1 – Client� Workflow Manager. “Informatica PowerCenter Workflow Manager” window opens.

• Right click on your repository which you created and select option “Connect” to connect repository. (Note: For connecting repository the database services must be started in services (Control Panel� Administrative Tools� Services).

• “Connect to Repository” window opens.

• Give repository Username, Password, Host Name, and Port Number which you gave in Fig: Configure Informatica Service – “Repository” tab.

• Then click “Connect” button. 25. To create Connections, In “Informatica PowerCenter Workflow Manager” window.

Select from menu bar, Connections� Relational.

• “Relation Connection Browser” window opens.

• Here you select your database type from “Select Type” drop down list. (E.g. Oracle).

• Then click on “New…” button, “Connection Object Definition” Window opens.

• Here you give Name for your selected database.

• Give user name, password, connect string specific to your database you selected.

• Then click OK. 26. For Server Configuration, In “Informatica PowerCenter Workflow Manager”

window, select from menu bar Server� Server Configuration, “Server Browser” window opens.

• Here you click on “New…” button to register server. “Server” window opens.

• Here you give Server Name which you gave while configuring Informatica service in Fig: Configure Informatica Service – “Server” tab.

• Host Name / IP Address (Computer Name)

• Set $PMRootDir attribute value as (e.g. C:\Program Files\Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1\Server) this is the path of your Informatica server where you install it. So give the path of your server where in install to this $PMRootDir as Attribute Value.

• Then click “Resolve Server” button.

• Click OK button.

• Your Server is created.

• Close all windows. Note: You can create one or more servers. Whenever you get problem connecting to server, come to this settings and click “Resolve Server” button.

27. To create Folder, Start� Program Files� Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1� Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1 – Client� Repository Manager.

28. “Informatica PowerCenter Repository Manger” window opens. Right click on

repository and select “Connect” to connect your repository,

• When you click connect “Connect to Repository” window opens.

• Give repository user name and password.

• Give Host Name, Port Name.

• Then Click “Connect” button.

• Then select from menu bar Folder� Create, then “Create Folder” window opens.

• Here you give folder Name (e.g. DEVELOPMENT, TESTING, PRODUCTION).

• You can set Owner/Group and Permissions also or keep default.

• Then click OK.

• Your DEVELOPMENT folder has been created, close the Informatica PowerCenter Repository Manager window.

29. Close all windows, and go to services (Control Panel� Administrative Tools�

Services) and start “Informatica” service. If you are getting problem while starting service, then go to event log viewer and see the error. (To get event log, click windows start button Start� Run, Run window opens, type “eventvwr”).

30. To create DSN for source database, go to Start� Program Files� Informatica

PowerCenter 7.1.1� Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.1 – Client� Designer.

• Connect to repository

• Connect to Folder which u created by double clicking on it.

• Go to source analyzer. 31. In Source Analyzer, select from menu bar, Sources � Import from Database.

• Import Tables window opens.

• Click on button where red arrow is place in above fig, to create new ODBC data source, then it will open ODBC Data Source Administrator window.

• Click “Add” button, it will open “Create New Data Source” window.

• Select Name from Name list according to your source database. And click Finish button.

• Then it opens Microsoft ODBC for your selected data source name form list. (E.g. Select “Microsoft ODBC for Oracle”, u will get following window).

• Give “Data Source Name”, DB “User Name”, DB “Server” Name (Connect String). Click OK.

32. Go to Fig: Import Tables window, select the data source name which you created,

and give db user name, password and click “Connect” button to connect to your database. Select tables, and click OK.

33. To create DSN for target database, go to “Warehouse Designer”,

• Select from menu bar, Target� Import from Database. Follow the same steps for target database as you did the same in “Source Analyzer” for source database. If your target database is same as source database then use same data source name which you created for source database.

• Use created data source for target database and import the targets. 34. So your data sources for source database and target database are created and sources

and targets are imported. 35. Checking your Installation properly working or not? Now use these sources and target

in “Mapping Designer” and do one simple map and save it, and Open “Informatica PowerCenter Workflow Manager” create workflow, create session for mapping in workflow, save it. And Run the workflow. If all your configurations are fine, then workflow will be succeeded. If you get any server connection error then check Informatica Services in services and your entire configuration once again.

36. So your Installation and Configuration of Informatica PowerCenter Client/Server

v7.1.1 is successfully completed.
