2. USEFUL INFORMATION

2.1. Accreditation

Media access and coverage will only be possible with accreditation.Accreditation must go through the portal of the Presidency of the Council of the European

Union https://acreditation.romania2019.eu/Those interested can apply no later than 10 days before the chosen event. Subsequent to the accreditation, the badges can be collected exclusively from the Palace of

Parliament, entrance A3S2, ground floor, (2-4 Izvor Street)-from the Accreditation Centre of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. In order to collect their badges, journalists/me-dia representative must present the accreditation approbal and their Identity Card/Passport.

2.1. Pool sessions

The accredited journalists/press representatives who wish to take part in the Pool sessions are requested to send their chosen option (Pool number and day) to the following e-mail address: ro2019eu@mapn.ro.

Access to Pool media type opportunities is permitted within the limit of the available seats, in the order of accreditation submittal.

When choosing a certain Pool session, journalists are requested to take into account the short time intervals between the press events as well as the distance between the media locations.

The press events open exclusively to cameramen and photographers (family photos and to-ur-de-tables), these are asked to:

• Make sure that camera microphones are set to record background noise only (not conversations)

• Comply with the security distances established • Leave the meeting room as soon as the signal is given by organizers

3. MEDIA CENTRE

Throughout the event, the Media Centre from the Palace of Parliament will be located on 2-4 Izvor Street, Bucharest.

3.1. Journalists access

Journalists will exclusively enter via A3S2 entrance from 2-4 Izvor Street, Bucharest.

3.2. Media Centre Schedule

Wednesday, 30 January: 12:00-20:00Thursday, 31 January: 07:30-19:00

3.3. Parking

Please use the public parking lots arranged in the neighborhood of the location.

3.4. Information Office

An Information Office for journalists will be located at the ground floor of the Palace of Parliament, A3S2 entrance, throughout the event. Here, journalists will be provided general infor-mation and updated data on the event agenda.

The Information Office will have the same opening hours as the Media Centre and will re-present the meeting place for further access to the media events. In order to participate in a media event, journalists are requested to comply with the time specified in the calendar.

3.5. Equipment

The Media Centre has 20 media booths/workstations for journalists and offers the following equipment:

• Tables and chairs• Universal power outlets (220V)• WI-FI• Limited number of LAN connections• Limited number of laptops that can be used within the Media Centre• Colour multifunction equipment (printers, photocopiers and scanners)

3.6. Catering

There is an arranged area for catering within the Media Centre. On 31 January, coffee, tea and water will be put at the journalists’ disposal. The same day, lunch will be served for the accre-dited journalists.

3.7. Smoking area

The Romanian legislation in force prohibits smoking in the enclosed public places. Therefo-re, smoking is prohibited within the Palace of Parliament. A special place will be arranged for the smokers outside the building.

3.8. Additional information

Audio, video and photo coverage with the participants can be taken throughout the Romani-an Presidency of the Council of the EU. The audiovisual contents and the photos can be published by the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU including on websites and social media chan-nels. By taking part in these events, the participants agree with the publishing of these contents.

The work spaces from the Media Centre are allocated according to the” first-come, first-ser-ved” principle. Organizers cannot reserve work places for the journalists. An hour after the begin-ning of the event, the team of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU will remove the signs placed by the journalists from the unoccupied work places.

The Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU is not responsible for the loss or the damage of the goods.

The lost goods will be preserved at the Information Office. If these are not claimed by the end of the event or the owner cannot be identified, the goods will be handed over to the Media Centre from the Palace of Parliament.

4. HOST BROADCASTER

4.1. Official host broadcaster

The host broadcaster of the 2019 Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU is TVR, the Romanian public television, a member of EBU (the European Broadcasting Union). It provides accredited journalists audiovisual content in broadcast quality (HD), free of charge, from the event press coverage.

Audiovisual material will be broadcast via EbS, the European Union’s TV information servi-ce, via satellite, and can be downloaded in real time.

TVR will provide the following audiovisual material:• arrival of the ministers and doorsteps - in the original language• handshakes - in the original language• tour-de-table• Press conference- in the original language and the translations into Romanian, English

and French languagesThe journalists are allocated 20 TV and radio booths within the Media Centre which can be

reserved on a first-come, first-served basis by sending an email to hostbroadcaster@tvr.ro, in the order of the requests submittal. The booths are equipped with LAN connection to the internal pro-duction network to get access to media files corresponding to live recordings, an HD monitor/TV, universal power outlets (220V), 1 SDI signal video distributer, 1 microphone and telephone line.

The equipment will allow for the reception of the live video and audio signals (original langu-age and translation) from the media events broadcaster by the official broadcaster. The booths have HD SDI signal with embedded audio. Some of them are equipped with ISDN lines.

The TV and radio booths will be reserved at the Information Office located at the ground floor of the Palace of Parliament, entrance A3S2.

The official broadcaster offers technical support to the journalists who wish to register the emission signal in the TV and radio booths.

4.2. SNG Parking

Because of the available limited space of the location, we cannot provide parking spaces to the SNG.

The free of charge Wi-Fi is available from the workstations especially arranged for the journalists.

Official timeThe official time in Romania is EET (Eastern European Time), UTC/GMT+2 hours.

WeatherRomania has a temperate continental climate. The weather forecast for January and February

oscillates around -2C during the day and -9C at night, but we recommend the participants to be prepared for lower temperatures. Snow is a frequently meteorological event this time of the year.

CurrencyThe official Romanian currency is the New Romanian Leu (the plural “Lei” is used), abbre-

viated RON. Please remember the fact that the stores do not accept Euro.
