The Rules

Be prepared

• This means arrive to class with your binder/ folder, lined paper, composition book, a pencil, eraser, and homework if due. If your pencil needs to be sharpened, do so before class starts.

Show respect

• Follow the golden rule: Treat others the way you would like to be treated. No demeaning words, actions, and behaviors towards other students, the teacher, or yourself.

Try

• Attempt in class and out of class work and/or activities. I will always support and help you to overcome obstacles but you must be willing to put forth effort.

Raise your hand

• This allows order in the classroom for everyone to hear and be heard. There will also be times when I direct you to answer/participate in other ways. It is expected that you will follow the procedure at these times.

Be responsible

• Complete work on time, study for tests and quizzes, and listen and participate in class. Come by the Spanish room and pick up any work missed after an absence. Most importantly, ask for help when you need it. I will help in any way I can to help you succeed.

Grades will be based on the following:

35% Quizzes/Tests

• Quizzes and tests will always be announced and planned ahead of time

35% Class work/Homework

• Class work may be independent or with a group. Homework is a tool to help the student practice skills and responsibility. It will normally be due the next class period. If you have a problem with an assignment, please talk to me so we can work on a solution.

20% Projects

• Projects will need a parent and student signature when assigned so that I know that the due date and requirements have been reviewed by all. Late projects will lose points. Early projects will gain points.

10% Participation and Effort

• Trying your best and working with the class and the teacher can be of great benefit. Asking questions and sharing ideas helps the student grow in many ways.

• After an absence or loss of class time due to illness or another commitment, collect missed work from the appropriate absent folder in the Spanish classroom. Each grade level has one. Arrange a missed test or quiz through me. It is YOUR responsibility to get information when you have missed class time. It is helpful to find a buddy and exchange phone numbers.
