Understanding connectionsIn Infor Ming.le, users with whom you establish a connection are called connections.

To become a connection with another user, you send a notification to the user, and the user acceptsthe notification. Your notification is called a connection request. When you send the connection request, users can see it on their feed page and in their notifications, if they choose to receive connection requestnotifications in their profile. Users can accept or decline the connection request from either of thesepages. When a user accepts the request, the user's name is displayed as a Connection on yourConnections panel.

After the connection request is sent and the user has accepted it, you are a connection of that InforMing.le user. As a connected user, you have access to post on that user's feed page, and that userhas access to post on your feed page. You also have access to view posts on a user feed page thathas a privacy level set to Connections.

If the user declines the connection request, you do not receive a notification of it. If the user acceptsyour request, you do receive a notification of the acceptance.

Your can use these options to sort by name:

• First Name to sort by first name, followed by last name• Last Name to sort by last name, followed by first name

By default, the names are sorted by the First Name option, but you can change it to Last Name. If youchange the sort option, that option remains until you change it. If you refresh the page, the sort optionreturns to the default First Name option.

Publishing a copy of a widgetYou can publish a copy widget to the Widget Catalog to make it available to other users. The steps aresimilar to the steps for publishing a widget. You publish the copy of the widget on a page, but the widgeton the page remains unpublished.

A scenario where this is useful is when you must publish several similar widgets where only parts ofthe widget configuration changes.

Publishing a copy of a widget1 Click the widget menu icon (…) on the widget title bar.2 Click Advanced.3 Click Publish Copy. Continue with step 4 in "Publishing a widget" on page 61.

User settings in a published widgetYou can publish a widget where some of the widget settings can be changed by a user. In most cases, you do not want to enable user settings in a published widget, but there are scenarios where this maybe useful. If a widget has settings that are related to user preference, those settings can be enabledwhile other settings remain disabled.

Widget settings that are enabled for the user are not updated if you republish the widget with updatedsettings. You should not enable settings that you want to be able to change when you republish thewidget.

republished, all users who have that widget on a page can see the updated widget the next time theuser starts Infor Ming.le. A user can also manually refresh a page to see the updates.

In most cases, you are not authorized to make changes to widgets published by other users. You can, however, duplicate a published widget from the Widget Catalog to create a local widget that you canconfigure. After you duplicate a published widget, you no longer see updates made to the publishedwidget.

An administrator may disable a standard widget, and in this case, all published widgets that are basedon that standard widget are not available on any page and are not displayed in the Widget Catalog.

Note: You may have to refresh the page or restart Infor Ming.le to see new or updated widgets.

Preparing a widget to be publishedThe standard process for publishing a widget is to configure the widget and select Publish Widgetunder Advanced on the widget menu. When you use that process, the publish configuration is completedand the widget is published in one flow.

This is an alternative process where you can complete and test the publish configuration prior topublishing. This is useful for widgets that look and behave differently when published such as the Noteswidget. With the local publish configuration on a page, the widget looks and behaves as if it is published, but the configuration is local to the page.

Editing the publishing configuration1 Click the widget menu icon (…) on the widget title bar.2 Click Advanced.3 Click Edit Publish Configuration. The Edit Publish Configuration dialog is opened, but it is not

opened in a Publishing mode with a changed title bar.4 Enter a description for the widget. This description is not used until the widget is published to the

Widget Catalog.5 Click the Settings tab.

Depending on the widget, there may be settings that you can enable for editing first by clickingEnable settings and then specifying a setting. The tab depends on the widget. Assume that you tested the Note widget and that you no longer notwant to edit the notes. Then, make sure the Enable settings check box is not selected.

6 Click Apply. The page is reloaded and depending on your publish configuration, the widget behaves differently. For example, the Configuration menu option is no longer displayed in the widget menu (…) ifEnable settings was cleared.

7 To enable Configuration again, you must edit the publish the configuration again:a Click the widget menu icon (…) on the widget title bar.b Click Advanced.
