Being a member of InFocus was a career- building experience. After participating in the program for five years in several different capacities I can honestly say that it gave me first hand knowledge of what the television production business has to offer.

InFocus TV Studio Production WorkshopFor Individual Youth

Youth learn all the skills necessary to complete programs in a TV studio: producing, scriptwriting, camera, audio, lighting, video switcher, graphics, hosting and interviewing.

Policies • The Studio Workshop is limited to 12 youth.• Open to Boston residents aged 12-15.• Transportation and meals for youth are the responsibility of the individuals and their families. • Cost $300 per student. Payments must be received by check, money order or credit card at least seven days before the start of the program.• Partial scholarships available based on family income.

InFocus Field Production & Editing WorkshopFor Youth-Serving Organizations

Your InFocus youth participants will learn to produce a BNN TV show – such as a PSA or documentary profile about your organization or community. Training includes scriptwriting, camera, audio, lighting, hosting and interviewing, on-location shooting techniques and editing with Final Cut Pro.

Policies • The Field/Editing Workshop is limited to 12 youth.• Your organization may request either 6 or 12 workshop slots.• Open to Boston residents aged 13-17.• Your organization will provide an adult representative who will act as Coordinating Producer and supervise all classes and project activities. • Transportation and meals for youth are the responsibility of the organization. • Cost $300 per student. Payments must be received by check, money order or credit card at least seven days before the start of the program.• Organizations will have the opportunity to post announcements on the Community Message Board, produce additional programming for BNN TV, and sign up for other BNN training workshops.

InFocus Youth Media Program

The InFocus Youth Media Program is a four-week summer program that provides training and hands-on experience in television production to Boston youth. Students will participate in the production of their own TV show seen on BNN cable channels that reach three-quarters of Boston homes and online at bnntv.org. We offer two separate workshops at the BNN Charles J. Beard II Media Center in Egleston Square: individual youth are invited to participate in the InFocus TV Studio Production Workshop; and the InFocus Field Production and Editing Workshop is open to youth-serving organizations.
