The STX WS 280 FREERIDE board. A new concept build in Fusion technology construction for a stiff and light board. The perfect family board, packable, easy transport and with the extra (daggerboard) mid fin stable and great upwind characteristics. With a width of 85 cm we created a super stable platform and the 280 volume makes it easy to uphaul your rig. The Twin fin backfins create great upwind characteristics and track the board as on rails. The hardrails in the rear half of the board creating less drag and easy waterrelease.

THE RIGHT RIG SETUP IS AN IMPORTANT STEP IF YOU WANT TO HARNESS THE WIND LIKE A PRO. Your skill level, height and the conditions you want to use the sail in (mostly wind strength) are factors.

Beginners should go for a smaller sail, relative to their height (ask instore).

The sail weight is a vital factor. Beginners should go for sails with 4 or 5 battens because they’re lighter. Heavier sails for more experienced riders.

As you get more experience you’ll want to power up - more battens.

SIZE COUNTSCHOOSING THE RIGHT SAIL SIZE IS ANIMORTANT CONSIDERATION. A sail meant for easygoing planing in eight knot conditions on lake placid just won’t cut it when sailing the ocean and larger breaks. rule of thumb: your sail should match where you’ll be riding. Pay attention to the wind speed at your favorite spot and choose a sail that pairs those conditions with your body weight and skill level. In a nutshell, Carbon percentages translate to critical factors like Reflex Speed, Durability, Stiffness and Weight. These factors all pair off against each other to produce varying results that cater to different riders’ needs.
