ThyssenKrupp FördertechnikApron Feeders are operatedworldwide to convey all kind ofraw materials in differentprocess applications. They haveproven their reliable design inheavy duty applications from thecement production to the miningindustry. They are used to feeddifferent crushers with run ofmine raw materials includinglumps up to a size of 2m or areintegrated as dosing systems forfurther drying and/or grindingprocesses.

So far ThyssenKrupp Fördertechnik has built Apron Feeders with a width up to 3 m and a length up to 30 m. Lifetime lubricated tractor chains and rollers with sizes from D 4 up to D 11 are chosen according to the toughness of the task ensuring high safety factors and a long lifetime.ThyssenKrupp FördertechnikApron Feeders are installed inhorizontal as well as in inclinedapplications. Due to the specialdesign of the aprons an inclinati-on range from 20° to 26° can be realized. In addition the bedheight of the conveyed materialstays constant ensuring anequal material flow to the furtherprocess. The high inclinationalso allows to built compactinstallations and to reduce thelength of the Apron Feederkeeping the investment costslow.

The head end drive shaft of theThyssenKrupp FördertechnikApron Feeder is supported inheavy duty dual row sphericalroller bearings and housings.Fixed on this shaft are the caststeel sprocket wheels which aredivided into segments allowingto change the single elementswithout disassembly of thechain. In addition support ringsfor the slide shoes of the apronsare installed on the shaft toavoid bending of the aprons andspillage at the discharge point.

The tension of the chain can beregulated by the spindle adju-sting device at the tail end shaft.This device allows in combinati-on with the movable drive shaftto optimize the discharge pointe.g. into the crusher.

ThyssenKrupp FördertechnikApron Feeders are operated withhydraulic as well as electro-mechanical drives. Each drivesystem is designed to provide therequired torques even for startingunder full load conditions.

Electro-mechanical drives consistsof a planetary gear in hollow shaftdesign in combination with anAC-motor. The speed of the ApronFeeder is controlled by a variablefrequency converter allowing toreduce the speed stepless downto 25 % of the nominal speed.With hydraulic drives the speed isinfinitely variable over the entirespeed range from nominal speeddown to standstill. This can beachieved either by axial pistonmotors in combination with aplanetary gear or directly with anHägglunds hydraulic motor opera-ted without additional gear box.Due to the sensitive setting rangesof all drives it is possible to com-bine two or three Apron Feedersobtaining already in the crusher apre-homogenization of the rawmaterials for the cementproduction.

For additional protection ofthe supporting building strutureThyssenKrupp FördertechnikApron Feeders could be equip-ped with an impact table beingprovided with heavy duty chocabsorbers.

The maintenance free slide railsare made of special steelallowing to operate the ApronFeeeder without additionalgreasing system.Thanks to this environmentalfriendly design feature greasespillage is avoided and thesafety in operation is increased.

ThyssenKrupp FördertechnikApron Feeders are equippedeither with cast reinforced weldedaprons. Every apron is designedwith a special sealing lip guaran-teing a minimum of spillageduring operation. The thicknessof the top plate can be chosenaccording to the requirements.
