She brings to this role a range of experiences in both LR and HR roles across the public and private sector, where she has taken part in negotiations and strategic bargaining, bargaining while supporting a provincial table, mergers, sales of businesses, and provided leadership on cultural and change management. Kelly’s experience and interest in the field of Employment Relations started with organized labour in the public sector, when working on the frontlines at the Children’s Aid Society. Her union experience with CAS piqued her interest in the field more broadly, and the skills she developed and demonstrated in that role evolved into an HR/LR position within the same sector with Kerry’s Place. After several years in that role, looking to gain private sector experience, Kelly moved into a position with Nestle, where she continued to focus on LR but also led several Canadian and American markets in strategic HR planning, streamlining, and cultural improvements. After this experience with a large and established organization, Kelly has embarked in an challenging new venture with Truss Beverages/ HEXO CIB, a start-up in the new and emerging market of Cannabis. Outside of her formal role as Director of HR, Kelly is committed to helping others benefit from her career experiences: through supporting local educational institutions with program development, business partnerships, as a qualified arbitrator, consultant, HR advisor for educators, and soon-to-be yoga instructor, and now, our first 2020-21 Safka Alumni Speaker!
