Overview:

Keeping abreast of industrial developments is an essential aspect of preparing students for their future careers. The FCIT Industrial Advisory Board is vital in creating a strong link between industry and the department, and is expected to contribute to the achievement of the depart-ment's goals and objectives. At FCIT, the Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) is a two-year term industry-based committee intended to help the department ensure that the graduates of its bachelor’s program better fit the needs of prospective employers.

IAB’s role is advisory, rather than decision making. The aim is to be a forum for strategic discus-sion and to assist with industry-related operational aspects of the departmental undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research programs. The board members are leading non-aca-demic professionals selected from a variety of backgrounds and industries that traditionally seek skilled computing program graduates.

The board members generally advise FCIT on the skills and qualities that meet labor market requirements. One of IAB's most important roles is to assist FCIT in developing modern and contemporary educational objectives for its programs. Another important role of the board is to guide and assist students and provide them with opportunities to gain some real world/work experience during their internships, trainings and capstone coursework.
