His plane „as last seen near Sal2,7edel, Gemai^r, after having oeen attacked and hit by eneny f i l t e r planes. No oarachutes were seen. The other nine members of the crev; and two observers who v.ere aboard this plane have been reported as prisoners of war, A Lieutenant J. K. Bingaman appears on a l i s t submitted by the Senior British Officer at Stalag Luft I, as having bean killed in the air.

SYProsiS: T-.e above mentioned casualty comprised one (I) of the crew nembera of twelve (12), of air c r a f t B-24H, ^41-28650 vrhich f a i l e d to return from a bombing mission to Brunswick, Genaany on 8 A p r i l 1944. Information contained in statenents of survivors taken from Casualty Interrogation Forms indicates, that decedent was wounded i n the head by a 20 mm she l l fire-J by an enemy ME 109 fighter plane and that the rerains crashed and burned with the a i r c r a f t * Eleven (II) of the cfew members who parachuted to safety rere later returned to US I' i l i t a r y control, A Field Investiigatipn.was cQnducted in tho appropriate area ih^54S"\^tHlnega'tJv6 re-^ffftfrT' A l l attempts to associate unknown American deceased : recovered from the area have f a i l e d . It i s logical to conclude that Lt Janes K, E'ingar.an vas k i l l e d when Lis plana i n which he was a crew r-omber was hit by enemy fighter planes and trashed in the v i c i n i t y of Weaendorf, Germany on the 8 A p r i l 1944. Tho fact thet Field Invostigation was negative and the fact that there are no remains of unknown American deceased on record that can be associated with the subject casualty would tend to substantiate this conclusion. . -—3^ 1* Nonrecoverable Findings for 1st Lt, Bingaman were approved

12 June 1950, reviewed and again approved October 1950,

2. l/Lt. Bingaman, pilot of aircraft #^28650, was the only casualty of an eleven (11) man crew iwhen the plane crashed near Wesendorf, Germany, 19liU. According to surviving crew members, the plane was attacked by 20m cannons of an ME 109 and the pilot was struck in the head. He went down with the plane.

3. An investigation was ccnducted by the Field in 19U8. Re­sults were negative. Lt. Bingaman was killed in the plane and i t is believed he was destroyed by the fire and explosions ensuing from the crash.
