India’s good food guides The first-ever Coca-Cola Golden Spoon Awards – IMAGES awards for excellence in the business of food retailing – honoured enterprise, innovation and achievement in the business of food marketing, retailing and services. Led by Food Forum India Chairman and Minister of Food Processing Industries, Subodh Kant Sahai, Industry captains from India and across the world acknowledged the achievements of Indian retailers who operated successfully in a highly competitive, low-margin-driven business over the course of the past year. From 92 stores in 2006-07, Reliance Fresh jumped to 534 stores in 07-08 fiscal, in the process adding 34 Indian cities to its geographical spread. Reliance Fresh now has outlets at over 47 cities, with a retail strategy that allows it to target neighbour-hoods as well as popular traditional markets.

With 46 standalone outlets (besides 80 in Big Bazaar) in 58 Indian cities and towns, Food Bazaar occupies a combined retail space of four lakh sq.ft., resulting from a rapid pan-India expansion undertaken last year.
