DESCRIPTION

The Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment is a laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Located in Agra, its primary function is research and development of Aerostats and delivery systems.[1] It was involved in the design and development of major subsystems of Nishant Unmanned Aerial Vehicle.[2] It has developed brake parachutes for LCA Tejas.[3] It has also provided parachutes for space capsule of Re-entry experiment SRE-1 by ISRO .[4] Akashdeep, 2000 cum aerotstat was successfully test flown with both actual and dummy payloads. It is one of the major achievements of ADRDE.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerial_Delivery_Research_and_Development_EstablishmentAerostat-mounted Radar system developed by India's DRDO [NDTV Report] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPpIl2KZUJo

PERSONNEL PARACHUTE

Personnel parachutes are designed to provide safe landing to the troops from military transport aircraft. A range of personnel parachutes to provide capability of drop from as low as 90m and as high as 9000m, from both rotary & fixed wing aircraft have been developed and productionised.

Aircrew parachutes are designed to provide safe landing to the pilot in case of emergencies. This type of parachutes have been designed & developed for almost all types of fighter aircrafts available with Indian defence forces.

AIRCREW ESCAPE SYSTEM

COMBAT FREE FALL SYSTEM

Combat Free Fall System provides total solution to paratrooper for jumping from as high as 30000 feet, gliding upto 30 km range and landing at desired target. The system consists of 9 cell Ram Air Parachutes, state-of-the-art Oxygen System, Safety devices, Jumpsuits, Helmet Mounted hands - free Communication System, Navigational Aids, Gloves, Shoes, etc. The system can be used in High Altitude High Opening(HAHO) and High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) modes.

TORPEDO

Armament parachutes are designed for delivery and trajectory control of bombs, torpedoes etc. ensuring the safety of the aircraft delivering the same. Unicross parachutes designed for armament delivery are very stable and follow required trajectory.

PARACHUTES

SPIN RECOVERY

RECOVERY

Well proven stable, reliable parachutes are designed for recovery of unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) weighing 500 Kg.

SPACE PAYLOAD RECOVERY

The space payload recovery parachute alongwith electronic sensor and floatation system is capable of recovering space payload on the sea surface. The system is highly reliable and stable. The total mass of the parachute system is less than 15 kg and recovery payload is 500 Kg.

Spin recovery parachutes are designed to provide emergency recovery of combat aircraft from spin mode in case the aircraft controls become ineffective. Spin parachutes designed for aircraft weighing 5000 Kg and 9500 Kg having deployment speed of 150 to 260 kmph have been successfully developed.

BRAKE PARACHUTESBrake parachutes have been designed to provide adequate deceleration to bring the aircraft of different weight class to stop within specified landing speed in both normal and emergency conditions.

Well proven single canopy brake parachute is designed to stop the aircraft, having landing weight varying from 9500 Kg to 15760 Kg for normal landing speed in the range of 260 Kmph to 310 Kmph.

Very stable twin canopies brake parachutes have been designed for aircraft landing weight varying from 21000 Kg to 41000 Kg, for normal landing speed of 260 Kmph and emergency landing speed of 300 Kmph.

CARGO

Cargo parachute systems designed for dropping the heavy combat load of 0.6 T to 8.5 T class with release velocity of 260 to 400 kmph at an altitude varying from 300 m to 1500 m (AGL).

PARACHUTESControlled Aerial Delivery System (CADS) is used for precise delivery of payload to a pre-designated target location. This is achieved by using a Ram Air Parachute alongwith onboard microcontroller, GPS and electronic instrumentation. The system is capable of delivering a payload of 80 to 500 kg from a max. height of 9500 m covering a stand off distance of 2.5 times the drop altitude with a CEP of 100m (approx).

AIRCRAFT ARRESTER BARRIER SYSTEM

FLOATATION SYSTEMS

Aircraft Arrester Barrier System offers safe and reliable arresting solutions for combat aircrafts during aborted take-off and landing overruns. Aircraft Arrester Barrier for 20 and 40 ton class of aircrafts have been productionised for Indian Airforce.

Floatation systems are used for recovery of payloads from sea water as per the size, shape and geometry. Floatation systems have been designed and developed for space recovery and under water recovery payloads. Emergency floatation systems have also been developed for retrieving of 5 to 10 Ton class helicopters from sea water.
