General Body Meeting Meet

The General Body of the IYA met on the 5th of Feb 2018. This meeting was an important one since the term of the executive committee had got over and the new team needed to be ushered in.. It was decided that Swami Ramdev-ji as Chairman of the Governing Council together with other esteemed members will govern the association while Dr.H.R.Nagendra with his team would manage the association. The duly discussed amended MOA was approved in this meeting.

Strength is in being together. Membership has been opened up for Yoga Samarthak (Volunteers) and Yoga professionals. These members shall be participants in strengthening of the association. They will be benefited by offerings like discount on publications, free subscription to newsletter, various discounts as agreed.

GOVERNING COUCIL MEMBERS TO MEET PM

The esteemed members of the Governing council would be meeting the Hon’ble PM to raise some important issues related to regulations of Yoga in India and its impact globally.

ICAP

It is planned to initiate a large research project on AYUSH as adjunct therapy with the conventional treatment for cancer. It is proposed that as part of this project 2 crore people will be surveyed, making it largest such project. Guidelines are being worked out.

MODEL TEXTBOOKS FOR UGC COURSES

With the UGC formalizing the degree and master program in Yoga for Universities, IYA has decided to take initiatives in coming up with the model text books for the students. This will help in ensuring high quality books being made available.

A step towards creating a voice for Yoga

With passage of times the challenges and the need changes. After more than a decade a need was felt that from existential mode we should now move towards converting ourselves as “ voice of Yoga” with an active and dynamic approach. With this in mind Swami Ramdev-ji was nominated as the Chairman of the Governing Council Dr.H.R.Nagendra was elected as the President and a new team came in to existence. The whole idea being to be able to move forward. There are lots of possibilities which lye ahead are we are trying to take it forward.

The IYA has been in existence for a decade. The primary intention of creating IYA was to generate unity amongst the diverse traditions of Yoga and then be able to represent the cause of traditional Yoga. Yogacharya Shri.B.K.S.Iyengar-ji shouldered the responsibility as the first President. He helped strengthen the foundations. Shri.O.P.Tiwari-ji then motivated the association to move forward. The PrCB of QCI was set up during this time. Dr.Ishwar Basavaraddi , the founding General Secretary was a positive force who helped all this to come together, together with other founding members and institutes.

EVENTS CENTANARY YEAR OF THE YOGA INSTITUTE

The Yoga Institute established in the year 1918 is celebrating its centenary year by organizing various programs all around the year. The Celebrations will culminate on the 25th of Dec 2018.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON YOGA AS THERAPY AT KAIVALYADHAMA Kaivalyadhama is hosting its 9th International Conference on Yoga as Therapy from 27th to 30th Dec 2018. IDY 2018 The world is getting ready to celebrate the IDY 2018 on the 21st June 2018. Programs have been planned through out the country , the largest will be held at Dehradun which will likely be attended by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. Member institute of IYA will be celebrating the IDY will great enthusiasm.

Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM), Chennai, has completed a project of creating a web repository of major classical commentaries on Yoga Sutra available for viewing in "http://kymyogavaisharadi.org/". This is an unique project and will help all yoga teachers and students to read important commentaries in soft copy form with a search facility.

Madhumeha Mukta Bhart and Niyantrita Madumeha Bhart all India campaigns and results are very encouraging.

Similarly, on considering the sudden raise in the population suffering from Cancer, Indian Yoga Association has envisaged a project proposal (All India Campaign) “Integrative Cancer Program (ICAP) with technical collaboration from S-VYASA to the Ministry of AYUSH for financial support and the proposal is under consideration.

As the President of the Indian Yoga Association, I assure that the Association will works towards its objectives and goals and in popularizing Yoga for the welfare of the society in all its spheres.

The Indian Yoga Association at the first juncture takes this opportunity to thank Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the Hon’ble Prime Minster of India, who is instrumental in spreading Yoga across all the nations of the globe and United Nations declaring June 21st as International Day of Yoga.

The Indian Yoga Association with Yoga professionals as its Office bearers and mentors has vision to promote Yoga in all walks of life starting from early school education. Accordingly the Ministry of Human Resources & Development has introduced yoga as part of the curriculum from school to university level.

On establishing the efficacy of Yoga in controlling/ managing and preventing major non communicable diseases by many leading Yoga Universities and Institutes, the Indian Yoga Association with technical support from Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-VYASA) was effective in brining awareness about Diabetes and preventing India from becoming the diabetic capital through
