[Guidelines to the Authors on writing the selected theme(s) identified by KAPC-GoK]
Themes
1-2. Theoretical, conceptual and ideological analysis of Group Approach to
Agricultural Marketing and Price Risk Management, such as
Conventional Marketing, Co-operatives, Emerging Farmers' Producers
Organisations, Farmers Companies and their appropriateness under
liberalized and globalized economic order.
3-5. Assessment of existing structural and functional dimensions of
producers’ group institutions such as a) KMF; b) HOPCOM; c) Areca
Marketing Co-operative - CAMPCO for their pricing strategies,
marketing efficacy in benefiting the farmers.
6. Documentation of success story of AMUL in terms of pricing strategy,
marketing as well as locative efficiency (processing, transportation and
storage) so as to benefit producers.
7-8. An Analysis and functional dimensions of (a) Retail Chains and (b)
Contract Farming and scope for their linkage with Group Approach to
Agricultural Marketing for the benefit of farmers of Karnataka.
9. Linking Government Procurement directly with Group Farming.
10. Assessing the progress and bottlenecks in GoI new initiative in the form
of FPOs supported by NABARD by taking the experiences of Karnataka.
11. Thorough overhaul of Co-operative Marketing Federation (MRKFED) so
as to perform effectively in assuring remunerative prices and marketing
of farm produces.
Guidelines to Authors
The joint consultancy project of IIPM and KAPC is focusing on preparation of
conceptual and practical paper relevant to policy dimensions of Group Approach
on Commodity Farm Marketing in Karnataka.
The authors are advised to choose a theme based on their
subject/disciplinary/case analysis expertise and explore 20 to 25 pages article
relevant to Karnataka farming community with a focus on group approach to
agricultural marketing. The author must try to access identified theme/theory
that explains a collective action and group approach with existing policies and
program in different parts of the nation, particularly its application in Karnataka.
Furthermore, a thorough interaction by the author(s) with farmers, policy
makers, those who manage group Farmer Producers Organisation (FPOs) &
other associated stakeholders is essential while planning and writing the article.
All these themes related articles enable a Price Discovery that is beneficial to
Farmer Producers’ by enhancing their Collective Bargaining Power. The authors
are also advised to make sure that the concern theme of a particular author
should observe a link with other themes. While, the guidelines provide a
freedom to bring in examples relevant to a particular theme around the globe.
However, authors are advised to give the most important, issues & example(s)
relevant to grassroots (field based) level application in Karnataka. The article
framework should consist of the following aspects:
Title
Abstract
Introduction
Review of theme(s) relevant to Karnataka
Thematic/theoretical analysis
Research and experimental project findings relevant to chosen theme
implemented in Karnataka
Discussion
Conclusion
Policy Implication
References
Professionalism and Plagiarism (authors are advised to give due
acknowledgement to the organisations/individuals who contributed to
theme and plagiarism reprehensible)
Brief on Writing an Article relevant to a Theme(s)
The abstract should, in the briefest terms possible, describe the topic, the scope,
the principle findings, and the conclusions. The length of abstracts vary but
seldom exceed 200 words. This component primarily communicate to the
readers the essence of the paper.
The component of introduction, is a clear statement of the theme or issues and
why author(s) are writing for understanding of stakeholders. Here, this section
should describe clearly a background information of the particular theme, what
has been done, scope, limitation and objectives.
Under the review of the literature, a focus may be given on existing literature on
the selected theme(s), the author decide to work based on past and futuristic
dimensions.
The theoretical/analytical section, would include sufficient theoretical or
practical/case analysis to enable the readers to understand discretion of the
writer on a particular theme. In case of findings, relevant data, observation,
tabulation, charts, figures, equation can be used effectively to present the
themes clearly and consciously.
The crux of the report is analysis and interpretation of theme/result as part of
discussion section. Since the result and discussion sections are interrelated they
can be combined as one section. The writing under this section, should meet the
felt requirement for stakeholders of group approach to agricultural marketing in
Karnataka.
A separate section outlining the main conclusion of theme is appropriate.
Direction for future work are also suitably is expressed.
The component of policy implication should bring clearly the relevance of theme
writing and its application in policy framework suitable at the grassroots level
particularly in Karnataka.
References should be collated at the end of paper cited in one of the format
described in The ACS Style Guide or Standard Journals.

IIPM Bengaluru under the sponsorship of Karnataka Agricultural Price Commission (KAPC), an advisory body of Government of Karnataka, is inviting prospective individuals to provide short term consultancy service. Objective: “Individual Consultancy for Group Approach on Commodity Farm Marketing in Karnataka”. Rationale for Group Approach to Marketing of Farm Commodities: Consultancy Assignment (Sponsored by the KAPC-GoK)
As agriculture in a country like India is characterized by small, uneconomical holdings, scattered across the country sides, remunerative farming to assure decent standard of living and income security to majority is a doubtful proposition. Group marketing, instead by individual farmers in this backdrop, can ensure the following;
For proper production plan based on demand assessment For aggregation of harvested commodities To reap economy of scale Quality and FAQ assurance For grading and standardization Processing and Value addition Effective Supply / Value chains Marketing and export trade Social-political imperatives and, Concerns of Sustainable Agriculture

All these must enable a price discovery that is beneficial to farmer producers by enhancing
their collective bargaining power. The sub-themes identified in this regard are: 1. Theoretical, conceptual and ideological analysis of Group Approach to Agricultural
Marketing and Price Risk Management, such as conventional marketing, co-operatives, emerging Farmers' Producers Organisations, Farmers Companies and their appropriateness under liberalized and globalized economic order.
