INDIAINSIGHT TRIP
At Opportunity International Australia, we are passionate about transforming livesaround the globe. We host Insight Trips so we can share with you the hope, gratitude and excitement you bring to families who are workinghard to leave poverty behind.
Insight Trips are safe, eye opening and unforgetable adventures that are authentic to each host country. You’ll spend time with an expert in the field and local hosts who know the culture inside out - their personal perspectives will give you an intimate understanding of the
culture and how Opportunity works alongside families to make significant and lasting changes.
Best of all, you’ll be able to visit families and see firsthand just how much small loans are transforming their lives and strengthening their communities.
So come on the journey with us. We take care of all the details to ensure your trip is an adventure unlike any other - one that is sure to change the way you see the world.
India is a country that can’t be explained – it must be experienced. As the seventh largest country in the world with several hundred languages, India is dozens of countries in one. A walk down the street is a feast for your senses: the noisy traffic, the aroma of street food, the cries of vendors and the bright colours of saris. It’s a kind of joyful chaos you won’t find anywhere else.
India also has the largest concentration of people living in poverty with one-third of the world’s poorest living in India. Inadequete education, discrimination and a lack of opportunity have confined many Indians to poverty. To address this, Opportunity established Dia Vikas - meaning Lamp of Development.
Dia Vikas supports the growth of Indian microfinance by partnering and investing in socially focused microfinance institutions to provide families with a hand up out of poverty.
Alongside microfinance, Opportunity also implements a range of community development programs to have a deeper impact, including financial literacy programs, business skills development and community health education.
