View from My Place Sometimes I feel like I’m just losing it. My desire. My fo-

cus. My energy. My hope. My edge. My skills. My pas-

sion. My perseverance. I’m discouraged. I’m frustrated.

I’m perplexed. Whether it is a deadly virus, a stressful

work environment, a stubborn family issue, a financial

challenge, or another wave of race-related national dis-

tress, the issues of life seem overwhelming. The road seems

endless and I feel like I’m running on fumes.

But through all of these uncomfortable feelings I am learning I never have to worry about

how much is in my "tank." I don’t have to worry about whether or not I will be able to

sustain my effort going forward. I don’t have to worry about losing “it.” Why?

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of

the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable.

He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power. Though

youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait

for the LORD will gain new strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They

will run and not get tired. They will walk and not become weary” (Isaiah 40:28-31).

Everything I lack, He possesses in infinite supply. From the Lord’s perspective, I wasn't

created and designed to be self-fueled or self-propelled, but to “wait for the Lord.” That

is, to be prayerfully engaged and to receive with thankfulness the grace He provides for

the present moment without worrying about my needs for the next. Because He will be

with me in that moment too, and the one after that, and the one after that, and the one

after that. He is an ever-present help, and unlike us, the moment is never too big for

Him.
