MARKET OUTLOOK

Equity Markets Round Up: June 2019• Globally, riskassetsincludingEMequitydidwellledbyhopesofsynchronizedglobaleasingbycentralbanks, ledby

the US Fed. The FOMC kept interest rates on hold and signaled a bias towards lower rates in the future (by dropping the ‘patience’ in its guidance) due to lower growth and below par inflation. The US 10 year yield dropped below 2% for the first time since November 2016 on expectation that the Fed would cut rates. The bullish sentiment was aided by the decision of Messrs. Trump and Xi Jinping to meet at the G-20 summit to resolve the deadlock in trade issues. • Among sectors, utilities, industrials andfinancials did relatively better. The revisedRBI circular on stressed assets(which provides for resolution to be binding once its approved by creditors representing 75% of value of outstanding credit and being approved by 60% or more of lenders by number) was a positive for power companies and NBFCs focused on power sector as power industry has seen high levels of stress.
