Our Year 5 Room 11 class entertained Poynter with their humorous rendition of mixed fairy tales by including teachers in their script They brought the Three Little Pigs to life and showcased that the big bad wolf was never bad but was set up by Little Red Riding Hood Snow White and her many little men performed their extraordinary dance Mr Ringrsquos free range chickens were featured and so were Mrs Reidrsquos battery chickens Mr Righton Mrs Hart and poor Mr Ring again were put on the spot and made to be part of our assem-bly They were amazing Poor Mr Palmer had a dramatic failure when he lost the elusive cup of sugar but luckily it was found in time An entertaining and colourful produc-tion which was enjoyed by all at the assembly Hatrsquos off to Room 11 You were all amazing

From the Principal
Welcome to the first newsletter of Term 3 I hope everyone had a relaxing and safe holiday It has been a busy start to this term with two class assemblies and our House Cross Country event Firstly well done to Room 13 (Mrs Langford) and Room 11 (Mrs Duim) on producing two fabulous assemblies that revolved around the importance of resilience and twisted fairy tales respectively
Despite some cold and wet weather recently we were fortunate be able to run our Cross Country event in fine conditions in Week 1 which made for an entertaining spectacle with a few very close finishes on the day It was pleasing to see many of our Year 3-6 students demonstrate the keys to success particularly resilience and persistence to push themselves towards the end of the race in what is a physically demanding event I would like to acknowledge all our competitors on the day as well as Mr James and Mr Riley for organising the event Our parent community also supported the event in earnest and it was terrific to see so many parents attend to support the students
Our School Development Day was held on Monday 19 July and included a range of professional learning and activities for our staff The day included Mrs Kyle Ms Bray and Mrs Guhl speaking about the Instructional Coaching program we are implementing for our teaching staff Instructional Coaching works by partnering trained coaches with staff in order to self-identify goals and strategies to improve outcomes for students in the classroom In addition we unpacked the Department of Educationrsquos Code of Conduct which includes a set of twelve standards that guide all staff in their conduct as employees The Code of Conduct builds on the shared values and workplace behaviours which are at the core of every decision we make The staff also participated in team building activities during the day
On 23 July Western Australia PampC Day took place This day acknowledges the critical role and contribution the PampC Community plays in all schools across WA We are fortunate to have a very active PampC here at Poynter who raise a significant amount of funds each year that contribute towards purchasing many items used by students and staff More recently these have included items such as iPads Interactive Whiteboards LCD projectors and Letters amp Sounds resources among others As part of the latest PampC Meeting in Week 2 the staff at Poynter organised a supper and individual certificates for respective PampC members as a thank you for all their hard work and time they have committed over the past year I would also like to acknowledge all of our class co-ordinators for the support they provide particularly in organising the class stalls at the Farmers Market
Our PampC will be commencing a school lunch order service next week to be provided by Lunch Box in West Perth Lunch orders will be available Monday and Wednesday only and more information is available in this newsletter on how to sign-up for this service Thank you to Chantelle Collins from the PampC for organising this
Mrs Kyle has stepped in to the role of Deputy Principal since Week 2 this term and will continue in this role until Week 5 I would like to acknowledge Mrs Bray for her hard work in the Deputy role at the end of Term 2 and the beginning of this term as well as Mr Wilson for teaching Art during this period
Good luck to all of our students who are competing in the Champion Schools Hockey Competition tomorrow and the Interschool Cross Country at Davallia PSJuniper Reserve next week

An important note from Mrs Jeffers
Hello everyone I am happy to say that I am back in WA however I need to quarantine until midnight Friday 13 August which means that I will be back at school on Monday 16 August
I understand that the PampC are making some long-term decision about the Farmers Market which I believe the whole school community needs to be part of as this involves everyone As I understand the survey that went out by the PampC was to the whole school community not just the members The commentary in the survey was very positive about the Farmers Market rating it as the preferred fundraising event (65) There are many judgements that we can make from these results but I believe that one of the most important judgements is that overall the Market is very valued by the school community (72)
I would like to share my perspective and address the funds that the Market is currently generating It is true that the Market is generating limited funds however in 2020 as a non-profit organisation the PampC received $20 000 from the Government because of the Farmers Market This amount was allocated to the PampC to support the Market during COVID In 2020 the Market did not function for several months due to restrictions within the State but also due to restriction that applied to school sites Strategies were put in place to get our stall holders back but given different circumstances that was a challenge 2020 was a tough year - it is understandable that our school market took a hit I believe that it would be fair given the last 19 months that we put into perspective what we have all been through and not make decisions in haste Yes we have only had ten markets but if other businesses outside have found it tough why canrsquot we apply the same sentiment to our market The Farmers Market is more than a fundraising event we need to give our new Market Manager the time and opportunity to get the market back up again
I wholeheartedly support the PampC to pursue community activities as we have done in the past however the PampC needs your support so that the work can be spread to many There were wonderful ideas that were suggested in the survey and I am sure that with the whole school communityrsquos support this can happen It would be great to see as many parents as possible at the next PampC meeting on the 2 September

for Young Artists This is an amazing
achievement for Isla as she was one of over a
thousand entrants from all across Western
Australia

the 2021 Shaun Tan Exhibition and the artworks
are currently on display at Subiaco Library until
the 8th of August The exhibited works are also
available for viewing digitally via the Subiaco

Dear Parents
Here we are in Week 3 of Term 3 and another musically busy term This is the term when all the hard
work the students have been putting in finally comes to fruition in important performance opportunities
Performing in public gives meaning and relevance to all the hours of practice that goes on in your
homes behind closed doors and in the early mornings before school in the Music Room
Public performance contributes to studentsrsquo sense of achievement and heightens a sense of well-being
and accomplishment The festivals that we engage with offer an opportunity to participate in an
incredibly positive experience and many past students comment on the performance aspects of their
time at Poynter
I appreciate the support and encouragement that you offer your children as they expand their
parameters of life experiences by participating in the Performing Arts
Choir
The Massed Choir Festival is an amazing event that the students always really enjoy participating in
This is a compulsory event for the choir students and is a fabulous night of choral entertainment held in
the beautiful and acoustically generous Perth Concert Hall
Please encourage your child to listen to and access the lyrics and music from their Choir Connect
library
The Massed Choir Performance will involve two rehearsals

ABODA Festivals
The ABODA (Australian Band and Orchestra Directorrsquos Association) Festivals both take place in
September
I now have confirmation of the performance times for the Year 6 Band String Ensemble and Orchestra
Please take note of these It is really important that we present balanced ensembles for all these
performances The ABODA Festivals are a remarkable opportunity for the students in the ensembles to
perform in a world class venue for a wider audience and participate in a workshop with an experienced
adjudicator

Poynter PS French Cultural Day
TUESDAY 17th AUGUST 2021
To celebrate Languages Week the Year 6 French students are hosting a French Cultural Day on Tuesday 17th August All students are asked to wear red white and blue or to dress in French lsquostylersquo You do not have to bring a gold coin to wear free dress as we are not fundraising
There will be lots of entertainment and many activities for you to enjoy during recess and lunchtime
Year 6 Can Can girls (and boys) mimes and marionettes will be performing and teaching their skills Our Music students will entertain us with French songs We even have talented lsquoCirque de Soleilrsquo performers
There will be competitions including the Tour de France bicycle race lsquoboulesrsquo (French bowls) and the Euro lsquofootballrsquo (soccer) and lsquohandballrsquo shoot out Wersquore also holding our own French Open ldquotennisrdquo competition and the Poynter Musketeers will teach the basics of ldquolrsquoescrimerdquo (fencing)
Students will be teaching French origami how to make your own Paris Book Necklace French knitting French bracelet craft French Diamond Painting how to make a Paris stencilled postcard and of course how to make your own balloon poodles
Students can watch episodes of lsquoTin Tinrsquo in the Cineacutema Tin Tin or episodes of lsquoMadelinersquo in the Cineacutema Madeline
Yr 6 students will be demonstrating how to make lsquocrecircpesrsquo small samples of which will be shared with all students as well as croissants pains au chocolat waffles and baguettes at lunchtime These samples are complimentary however students will still need to bring their own lunch
Finally Year 6 students will be selling French souvenirs at their stall Years 1 ndash 3 can make their purchases at recess and towards the end of lunchtime and Years 4 ndash 6 from the start of lunchtime Please bring along some money We are not fundraising so we are selling at wholesale prices Further details including items available and a schedule of events will be sent out via Connect closer to the date Merci
BOOK WEEK 2021
Poynter Primary School will be celebrating Book Week from Monday 23 August to Thursday 26 August
The theme is lsquoOld Worlds New Worlds Other Worldsrsquo
We will be running our annual Book Character Book Week Theme Dress Up Parade on
Wednesday 25 August in the undercover area from 900am until 1000am
One event during Book Week not to be missed is the Book Fair This year
our Year 6 Library Monitors and Parent volunteers are selling books from the
Learning Discovery Larrikin range to raise money for the school Library This
event is an excellent way for the school to collect the latest childrenrsquos titles for
the Library collection Anyone may purchase a book to donate to the Library
and then a certificate of appreciation with your name will be placed in the
book Classes will have the chance to attend the lsquoOur Learning Discovery
Larrikinrsquo Book Fair during their allocated Library session and will have the
opportunity to make a lsquoWish Listrsquo younger students will receive help with this
The Wish Lists will then be sent home for parents to review online at
wwwlarrikinhousecom then prepay using Larrikin Cash

Larrikin Cash works just like real cash and even looks like money Larrikin Cash is set up as an online
item where you can simply enter any amount you wish (Please donrsquot add the actual products to your
online cart just the Larrikin Cash item as products need to be collected from
the Book Fair) Once you pass through the checkout you will receive an email
with your Larrikin Cash which you can either print out and give to your child
or write the 5 digit code onto the wish list If you donrsquot receive the email
immediately after checkout please check your spamjunk mail folder You are
effectively buying a voucher that can then be exchanged for any items at the Book Fair
Your child will then bring the Larrikin CashWish List to the Library during the Book Fair We will also be
accepting regular cash and credit card payments on site during the Fair
Although every effort will be made to ensure your child brings home the correct items a stock item may
be sold out Sometimes students change their minds If there is a discrepancy please contact us
For anyone who wishes to donate a book each classroom teacher has selected a few titles for you to
choose from These details will be available at the Book Fair under the section lsquoTeacherrsquos Choicersquo From
Monday 23 August to Thursday 26 August I am looking for parent helpers to assist with the
following tasks

I trust the first 2 weeks of the term have gone well and your children have
settled back into a routine refreshed and ready for a big term Irsquom grateful
we could return to school as normal for Term 3 following the lockdown
THANK YOU to the whole school community for getting involved in our
Winter Warmers fundraiser for St Vinniersquos We have a very generous
community (itrsquos lsquoThe Poynter Wayrsquo) and that was on display once again with
the numerous items brought in by students parents and teachers as well
as monetary donations All the items collected and the donations were
handed over to St Vinniersquos and will be used to support those facing
homelessness and hardship in our community Irsquod like to especially thank
Mrs Guhl Mr James and the Year 6 leaders for all the support and help
organising the fundraiser and
lap-a-thon
Given all that is going on in
our nation and the world
around us at the moment I
have personally been enjoying
following the Tokyo Olympics
Watching athletes from
different countries achieve
their dreams and work
together for a common goal
despite the differing
circumstances is a reminder of the strength of the human spirit
These athletes epitomise the Six Keys to Success that we aim to
nurture in students at Poynter As your children develop these keys
perhaps one day we will see them compete on the highest stage in sport walk the corridors of
parliament or fly into space Dream big work hard and never give up

2021 House Cross Country Results
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the House Cross Country event last week We
had amazing weather and all of our students put in an even more amazing performance We saw
huge efforts wonderful comradery and healthy competitiveness in what was a great day
Well done to the following students who ranked in the top 6 in their year group This rank qualifies
them for the Interschool Cross Country event to be held at Davalia Primary School on 10 August

PampC News Our many incredible members of the PampC past and present were thanked by our school leadership for their hard work and contributions at the most recent meeting for PampC Day We were treated to a delicious supper by Mr Palmer which was really lovely as well as taking home some of our very own merit certificates Look out kids Thankyou Poynter PS for acknowledging the work done by our PampC A big thank you also to all those parents who may not be PampC members at this time but regularly contribute to the running of various events at school and contribute to the market ndash you are amazing and we are grateful to you Soon all parents at Poynter PS will be emailed a copy of the summary of results from our recent PampC survey via Connect ndash please look out for it in your email in-boxes Thankyou everyone who took the time to complete the survey as itrsquos given us a lot of information about parentsrsquo views of the work of the PampC and their level of involvement Happily the responses overall would seem to indicate that the PampC is broadly doing well at listening to parents and meeting their expectations At our meeting last week we began forming some action steps based on feedback received Some of the points we discussed were arranging more family-friendly events whether they be to fundraise or just to have fun in family groups such as movie nights Colour Run and a Scitech night There is interest to build more environmental sustainability initiatives into what we are doing in the PampC like setting up a Containers for Change account and running events with this focus for our kids We would like to grow the PampC membership and have plans to use our PampC Facebook page more to do this as well as to share our meeting agendas and minutes more widely if we can so that as many parents as possible understand what we do and how to get involved We also plan to ask more for people to volunteer to coordinate or help out at events even if they are not on the PampC We recognise that many people may not wish to make an ongoing commitment but are really passionate about a particular event or have a bit of time here and there for a specific task Massive well done to Ash Gasmier for organising another great Dadrsquos Night on the 18th June ndash brilliant effort again Ash and we thank you for making this happen not only for this year but many years previous This event raised close to $1500 for the PampC ndash a great effort A big thankyou to Class Coordinator Sandra Mohr and Year 6 Room 10 for their market stall held at the Farmers Market on 24th July - $583 was taken in sales Thank you for your great effort Sandra and to all parents who baked cooked and ran the till and the square terminal The Duncraig Lions Club ran the BBQ for us at the market during the school holidays Ten markets have been run this year so far and the PampC have been looking closely at the profits generated by the market as a fundraising activity Itrsquos clear that our stall is a consistently strong performer bringing in anywhere between $500 and $700 net profit each market However the fees we collect from our stallholders have not been enough to cover the cost of the various wages and overheads that we need to pay in order to run the market We would like more fruit and veg stallholders but they are hard to find now that there are more Farmers Markets around Perth even by our Market Manager who has many connections in that world Whilst we are still making a profit overall it is sitting around $1000 to date this year The gap between the stallholder fees and the costs should narrow over the next couple of months with what we have put in place However the PampC have voted that whilst the market runs this term we will explore what the alternatives may be for both a family-friendly AND effective fundraiser and put it to a further vote in Term 4 All PampC members who attend that meeting will be able to vote so please consider becoming a member in order to have your say It was great to hear that the 30 new Ipads along with their storage and charging boxes have arrived ready to be used across all age groups in the school half of the cost of which was funded by the PampC At the most recent meeting we discussed looking at opportunities to fund or obtain grant funding towards a shade sail over the new early childhood playground and a bike shelter to encourage kids to ride to school even on wet or overcast days

successful and yummy Sushi lunch A lot of time and effort behind the scenes is put into organising our
special lunches and we really appreciate it

to 9pm more details coming soon for this fantastic chance to get together with your Mum friends and
raise funds for the PampC

Despite some cold and wet weather recently we were fortunate be able to run our Cross Country event in fine conditions in Week 1 which made for an entertaining spectacle with a few very close finishes on the day It was pleasing to see many of our Year 3-6 students demonstrate the keys to success particularly resilience and persistence to push themselves towards the end of the race in what is a physically demanding event I would like to acknowledge all our competitors on the day as well as Mr James and Mr Riley for organising the event Our parent community also supported the event in earnest and it was terrific to see so many parents attend to support the students
Our School Development Day was held on Monday 19 July and included a range of professional learning and activities for our staff The day included Mrs Kyle Ms Bray and Mrs Guhl speaking about the Instructional Coaching program we are implementing for our teaching staff Instructional Coaching works by partnering trained coaches with staff in order to self-identify goals and strategies to improve outcomes for students in the classroom In addition we unpacked the Department of Educationrsquos Code of Conduct which includes a set of twelve standards that guide all staff in their conduct as employees The Code of Conduct builds on the shared values and workplace behaviours which are at the core of every decision we make The staff also participated in team building activities during the day
On 23 July Western Australia PampC Day took place This day acknowledges the critical role and contribution the PampC Community plays in all schools across WA We are fortunate to have a very active PampC here at Poynter who raise a significant amount of funds each year that contribute towards purchasing many items used by students and staff More recently these have included items such as iPads Interactive Whiteboards LCD projectors and Letters amp Sounds resources among others As part of the latest PampC Meeting in Week 2 the staff at Poynter organised a supper and individual certificates for respective PampC members as a thank you for all their hard work and time they have committed over the past year I would also like to acknowledge all of our class co-ordinators for the support they provide particularly in organising the class stalls at the Farmers Market
Our PampC will be commencing a school lunch order service next week to be provided by Lunch Box in West Perth Lunch orders will be available Monday and Wednesday only and more information is available in this newsletter on how to sign-up for this service Thank you to Chantelle Collins from the PampC for organising this
Mrs Kyle has stepped in to the role of Deputy Principal since Week 2 this term and will continue in this role until Week 5 I would like to acknowledge Mrs Bray for her hard work in the Deputy role at the end of Term 2 and the beginning of this term as well as Mr Wilson for teaching Art during this period
Good luck to all of our students who are competing in the Champion Schools Hockey Competition tomorrow and the Interschool Cross Country at Davallia PSJuniper Reserve next week

Hello everyone I am happy to say that I am back in WA however I need to quarantine until midnight Friday 13 August which means that I will be back at school on Monday 16 August
I understand that the PampC are making some long-term decision about the Farmers Market which I believe the whole school community needs to be part of as this involves everyone As I understand the survey that went out by the PampC was to the whole school community not just the members The commentary in the survey was very positive about the Farmers Market rating it as the preferred fundraising event (65) There are many judgements that we can make from these results but I believe that one of the most important judgements is that overall the Market is very valued by the school community (72)
I would like to share my perspective and address the funds that the Market is currently generating It is true that the Market is generating limited funds however in 2020 as a non-profit organisation the PampC received $20 000 from the Government because of the Farmers Market This amount was allocated to the PampC to support the Market during COVID In 2020 the Market did not function for several months due to restrictions within the State but also due to restriction that applied to school sites Strategies were put in place to get our stall holders back but given different circumstances that was a challenge 2020 was a tough year - it is understandable that our school market took a hit I believe that it would be fair given the last 19 months that we put into perspective what we have all been through and not make decisions in haste Yes we have only had ten markets but if other businesses outside have found it tough why canrsquot we apply the same sentiment to our market The Farmers Market is more than a fundraising event we need to give our new Market Manager the time and opportunity to get the market back up again
I wholeheartedly support the PampC to pursue community activities as we have done in the past however the PampC needs your support so that the work can be spread to many There were wonderful ideas that were suggested in the survey and I am sure that with the whole school communityrsquos support this can happen It would be great to see as many parents as possible at the next PampC meeting on the 2 September

work the students have been putting in finally comes to fruition in important performance opportunities
Performing in public gives meaning and relevance to all the hours of practice that goes on in your
homes behind closed doors and in the early mornings before school in the Music Room
Public performance contributes to studentsrsquo sense of achievement and heightens a sense of well-being
and accomplishment The festivals that we engage with offer an opportunity to participate in an
incredibly positive experience and many past students comment on the performance aspects of their
time at Poynter

The Massed Choir Festival is an amazing event that the students always really enjoy participating in

Poynter PS French Cultural Day
TUESDAY 17th AUGUST 2021
To celebrate Languages Week the Year 6 French students are hosting a French Cultural Day on Tuesday 17th August All students are asked to wear red white and blue or to dress in French lsquostylersquo You do not have to bring a gold coin to wear free dress as we are not fundraising
There will be lots of entertainment and many activities for you to enjoy during recess and lunchtime
Year 6 Can Can girls (and boys) mimes and marionettes will be performing and teaching their skills Our Music students will entertain us with French songs We even have talented lsquoCirque de Soleilrsquo performers
There will be competitions including the Tour de France bicycle race lsquoboulesrsquo (French bowls) and the Euro lsquofootballrsquo (soccer) and lsquohandballrsquo shoot out Wersquore also holding our own French Open ldquotennisrdquo competition and the Poynter Musketeers will teach the basics of ldquolrsquoescrimerdquo (fencing)
Students will be teaching French origami how to make your own Paris Book Necklace French knitting French bracelet craft French Diamond Painting how to make a Paris stencilled postcard and of course how to make your own balloon poodles
Students can watch episodes of lsquoTin Tinrsquo in the Cineacutema Tin Tin or episodes of lsquoMadelinersquo in the Cineacutema Madeline
Yr 6 students will be demonstrating how to make lsquocrecircpesrsquo small samples of which will be shared with all students as well as croissants pains au chocolat waffles and baguettes at lunchtime These samples are complimentary however students will still need to bring their own lunch
Finally Year 6 students will be selling French souvenirs at their stall Years 1 ndash 3 can make their purchases at recess and towards the end of lunchtime and Years 4 ndash 6 from the start of lunchtime Please bring along some money We are not fundraising so we are selling at wholesale prices Further details including items available and a schedule of events will be sent out via Connect closer to the date Merci

Poynter Primary School will be celebrating Book Week from Monday 23 August to Thursday 26 August

We will be running our annual Book Character Book Week Theme Dress Up Parade on
Wednesday 25 August in the undercover area from 900am until 1000am
One event during Book Week not to be missed is the Book Fair This year
our Year 6 Library Monitors and Parent volunteers are selling books from the
Learning Discovery Larrikin range to raise money for the school Library This
event is an excellent way for the school to collect the latest childrenrsquos titles for
the Library collection Anyone may purchase a book to donate to the Library
and then a certificate of appreciation with your name will be placed in the
book Classes will have the chance to attend the lsquoOur Learning Discovery
Larrikinrsquo Book Fair during their allocated Library session and will have the
opportunity to make a lsquoWish Listrsquo younger students will receive help with this

Winter Warmers fundraiser for St Vinniersquos We have a very generous
community (itrsquos lsquoThe Poynter Wayrsquo) and that was on display once again with
the numerous items brought in by students parents and teachers as well
as monetary donations All the items collected and the donations were
handed over to St Vinniersquos and will be used to support those facing
homelessness and hardship in our community Irsquod like to especially thank
Mrs Guhl Mr James and the Year 6 leaders for all the support and help
organising the fundraiser and

have personally been enjoying
following the Tokyo Olympics
Watching athletes from

PampC News Our many incredible members of the PampC past and present were thanked by our school leadership for their hard work and contributions at the most recent meeting for PampC Day We were treated to a delicious supper by Mr Palmer which was really lovely as well as taking home some of our very own merit certificates Look out kids Thankyou Poynter PS for acknowledging the work done by our PampC A big thank you also to all those parents who may not be PampC members at this time but regularly contribute to the running of various events at school and contribute to the market ndash you are amazing and we are grateful to you Soon all parents at Poynter PS will be emailed a copy of the summary of results from our recent PampC survey via Connect ndash please look out for it in your email in-boxes Thankyou everyone who took the time to complete the survey as itrsquos given us a lot of information about parentsrsquo views of the work of the PampC and their level of involvement Happily the responses overall would seem to indicate that the PampC is broadly doing well at listening to parents and meeting their expectations At our meeting last week we began forming some action steps based on feedback received Some of the points we discussed were arranging more family-friendly events whether they be to fundraise or just to have fun in family groups such as movie nights Colour Run and a Scitech night There is interest to build more environmental sustainability initiatives into what we are doing in the PampC like setting up a Containers for Change account and running events with this focus for our kids We would like to grow the PampC membership and have plans to use our PampC Facebook page more to do this as well as to share our meeting agendas and minutes more widely if we can so that as many parents as possible understand what we do and how to get involved We also plan to ask more for people to volunteer to coordinate or help out at events even if they are not on the PampC We recognise that many people may not wish to make an ongoing commitment but are really passionate about a particular event or have a bit of time here and there for a specific task Massive well done to Ash Gasmier for organising another great Dadrsquos Night on the 18th June ndash brilliant effort again Ash and we thank you for making this happen not only for this year but many years previous This event raised close to $1500 for the PampC ndash a great effort A big thankyou to Class Coordinator Sandra Mohr and Year 6 Room 10 for their market stall held at the Farmers Market on 24th July - $583 was taken in sales Thank you for your great effort Sandra and to all parents who baked cooked and ran the till and the square terminal The Duncraig Lions Club ran the BBQ for us at the market during the school holidays Ten markets have been run this year so far and the PampC have been looking closely at the profits generated by the market as a fundraising activity Itrsquos clear that our stall is a consistently strong performer bringing in anywhere between $500 and $700 net profit each market However the fees we collect from our stallholders have not been enough to cover the cost of the various wages and overheads that we need to pay in order to run the market We would like more fruit and veg stallholders but they are hard to find now that there are more Farmers Markets around Perth even by our Market Manager who has many connections in that world Whilst we are still making a profit overall it is sitting around $1000 to date this year The gap between the stallholder fees and the costs should narrow over the next couple of months with what we have put in place However the PampC have voted that whilst the market runs this term we will explore what the alternatives may be for both a family-friendly AND effective fundraiser and put it to a further vote in Term 4 All PampC members who attend that meeting will be able to vote so please consider becoming a member in order to have your say It was great to hear that the 30 new Ipads along with their storage and charging boxes have arrived ready to be used across all age groups in the school half of the cost of which was funded by the PampC At the most recent meeting we discussed looking at opportunities to fund or obtain grant funding towards a shade sail over the new early childhood playground and a bike shelter to encourage kids to ride to school even on wet or overcast days

Here we are in Week 3 of Term 3 and another musically busy term This is the term when all the hard
work the students have been putting in finally comes to fruition in important performance opportunities
Performing in public gives meaning and relevance to all the hours of practice that goes on in your
homes behind closed doors and in the early mornings before school in the Music Room
Public performance contributes to studentsrsquo sense of achievement and heightens a sense of well-being
and accomplishment The festivals that we engage with offer an opportunity to participate in an
incredibly positive experience and many past students comment on the performance aspects of their
time at Poynter
I appreciate the support and encouragement that you offer your children as they expand their
parameters of life experiences by participating in the Performing Arts
Choir
The Massed Choir Festival is an amazing event that the students always really enjoy participating in
This is a compulsory event for the choir students and is a fabulous night of choral entertainment held in
the beautiful and acoustically generous Perth Concert Hall

Poynter PS French Cultural Day
TUESDAY 17th AUGUST 2021
To celebrate Languages Week the Year 6 French students are hosting a French Cultural Day on Tuesday 17th August All students are asked to wear red white and blue or to dress in French lsquostylersquo You do not have to bring a gold coin to wear free dress as we are not fundraising
There will be lots of entertainment and many activities for you to enjoy during recess and lunchtime
Year 6 Can Can girls (and boys) mimes and marionettes will be performing and teaching their skills Our Music students will entertain us with French songs We even have talented lsquoCirque de Soleilrsquo performers
There will be competitions including the Tour de France bicycle race lsquoboulesrsquo (French bowls) and the Euro lsquofootballrsquo (soccer) and lsquohandballrsquo shoot out Wersquore also holding our own French Open ldquotennisrdquo competition and the Poynter Musketeers will teach the basics of ldquolrsquoescrimerdquo (fencing)
Students will be teaching French origami how to make your own Paris Book Necklace French knitting French bracelet craft French Diamond Painting how to make a Paris stencilled postcard and of course how to make your own balloon poodles
Students can watch episodes of lsquoTin Tinrsquo in the Cineacutema Tin Tin or episodes of lsquoMadelinersquo in the Cineacutema Madeline
Yr 6 students will be demonstrating how to make lsquocrecircpesrsquo small samples of which will be shared with all students as well as croissants pains au chocolat waffles and baguettes at lunchtime These samples are complimentary however students will still need to bring their own lunch
Finally Year 6 students will be selling French souvenirs at their stall Years 1 ndash 3 can make their purchases at recess and towards the end of lunchtime and Years 4 ndash 6 from the start of lunchtime Please bring along some money We are not fundraising so we are selling at wholesale prices Further details including items available and a schedule of events will be sent out via Connect closer to the date Merci

Poynter Primary School will be celebrating Book Week from Monday 23 August to Thursday 26 August
The theme is lsquoOld Worlds New Worlds Other Worldsrsquo
We will be running our annual Book Character Book Week Theme Dress Up Parade on
Wednesday 25 August in the undercover area from 900am until 1000am
One event during Book Week not to be missed is the Book Fair This year
our Year 6 Library Monitors and Parent volunteers are selling books from the
Learning Discovery Larrikin range to raise money for the school Library This
event is an excellent way for the school to collect the latest childrenrsquos titles for
the Library collection Anyone may purchase a book to donate to the Library
and then a certificate of appreciation with your name will be placed in the
book Classes will have the chance to attend the lsquoOur Learning Discovery
Larrikinrsquo Book Fair during their allocated Library session and will have the
opportunity to make a lsquoWish Listrsquo younger students will receive help with this

I trust the first 2 weeks of the term have gone well and your children have
settled back into a routine refreshed and ready for a big term Irsquom grateful
we could return to school as normal for Term 3 following the lockdown
THANK YOU to the whole school community for getting involved in our
Winter Warmers fundraiser for St Vinniersquos We have a very generous
community (itrsquos lsquoThe Poynter Wayrsquo) and that was on display once again with
the numerous items brought in by students parents and teachers as well
as monetary donations All the items collected and the donations were
handed over to St Vinniersquos and will be used to support those facing
homelessness and hardship in our community Irsquod like to especially thank
Mrs Guhl Mr James and the Year 6 leaders for all the support and help
organising the fundraiser and
lap-a-thon
Given all that is going on in
our nation and the world
around us at the moment I
have personally been enjoying
following the Tokyo Olympics
Watching athletes from
different countries achieve
their dreams and work
together for a common goal
despite the differing
circumstances is a reminder of the strength of the human spirit
These athletes epitomise the Six Keys to Success that we aim to
nurture in students at Poynter As your children develop these keys
perhaps one day we will see them compete on the highest stage in sport walk the corridors of

Congratulations to all the students who participated in the House Cross Country event last week We
had amazing weather and all of our students put in an even more amazing performance We saw
huge efforts wonderful comradery and healthy competitiveness in what was a great day

PampC News Our many incredible members of the PampC past and present were thanked by our school leadership for their hard work and contributions at the most recent meeting for PampC Day We were treated to a delicious supper by Mr Palmer which was really lovely as well as taking home some of our very own merit certificates Look out kids Thankyou Poynter PS for acknowledging the work done by our PampC A big thank you also to all those parents who may not be PampC members at this time but regularly contribute to the running of various events at school and contribute to the market ndash you are amazing and we are grateful to you Soon all parents at Poynter PS will be emailed a copy of the summary of results from our recent PampC survey via Connect ndash please look out for it in your email in-boxes Thankyou everyone who took the time to complete the survey as itrsquos given us a lot of information about parentsrsquo views of the work of the PampC and their level of involvement Happily the responses overall would seem to indicate that the PampC is broadly doing well at listening to parents and meeting their expectations At our meeting last week we began forming some action steps based on feedback received Some of the points we discussed were arranging more family-friendly events whether they be to fundraise or just to have fun in family groups such as movie nights Colour Run and a Scitech night There is interest to build more environmental sustainability initiatives into what we are doing in the PampC like setting up a Containers for Change account and running events with this focus for our kids We would like to grow the PampC membership and have plans to use our PampC Facebook page more to do this as well as to share our meeting agendas and minutes more widely if we can so that as many parents as possible understand what we do and how to get involved We also plan to ask more for people to volunteer to coordinate or help out at events even if they are not on the PampC We recognise that many people may not wish to make an ongoing commitment but are really passionate about a particular event or have a bit of time here and there for a specific task Massive well done to Ash Gasmier for organising another great Dadrsquos Night on the 18th June ndash brilliant effort again Ash and we thank you for making this happen not only for this year but many years previous This event raised close to $1500 for the PampC ndash a great effort A big thankyou to Class Coordinator Sandra Mohr and Year 6 Room 10 for their market stall held at the Farmers Market on 24th July - $583 was taken in sales Thank you for your great effort Sandra and to all parents who baked cooked and ran the till and the square terminal The Duncraig Lions Club ran the BBQ for us at the market during the school holidays Ten markets have been run this year so far and the PampC have been looking closely at the profits generated by the market as a fundraising activity Itrsquos clear that our stall is a consistently strong performer bringing in anywhere between $500 and $700 net profit each market However the fees we collect from our stallholders have not been enough to cover the cost of the various wages and overheads that we need to pay in order to run the market We would like more fruit and veg stallholders but they are hard to find now that there are more Farmers Markets around Perth even by our Market Manager who has many connections in that world Whilst we are still making a profit overall it is sitting around $1000 to date this year The gap between the stallholder fees and the costs should narrow over the next couple of months with what we have put in place However the PampC have voted that whilst the market runs this term we will explore what the alternatives may be for both a family-friendly AND effective fundraiser and put it to a further vote in Term 4 All PampC members who attend that meeting will be able to vote so please consider becoming a member in order to have your say It was great to hear that the 30 new Ipads along with their storage and charging boxes have arrived ready to be used across all age groups in the school half of the cost of which was funded by the PampC At the most recent meeting we discussed looking at opportunities to fund or obtain grant funding towards a shade sail over the new early childhood playground and a bike shelter to encourage kids to ride to school even on wet or overcast days

I trust the first 2 weeks of the term have gone well and your children have
settled back into a routine refreshed and ready for a big term Irsquom grateful
we could return to school as normal for Term 3 following the lockdown
THANK YOU to the whole school community for getting involved in our
Winter Warmers fundraiser for St Vinniersquos We have a very generous
community (itrsquos lsquoThe Poynter Wayrsquo) and that was on display once again with
the numerous items brought in by students parents and teachers as well
as monetary donations All the items collected and the donations were
handed over to St Vinniersquos and will be used to support those facing
homelessness and hardship in our community Irsquod like to especially thank
Mrs Guhl Mr James and the Year 6 leaders for all the support and help
organising the fundraiser and
lap-a-thon
Given all that is going on in
our nation and the world
around us at the moment I
have personally been enjoying
following the Tokyo Olympics
Watching athletes from
different countries achieve
their dreams and work
together for a common goal
despite the differing
circumstances is a reminder of the strength of the human spirit
These athletes epitomise the Six Keys to Success that we aim to
nurture in students at Poynter As your children develop these keys
perhaps one day we will see them compete on the highest stage in sport walk the corridors of

Congratulations to all the students who participated in the House Cross Country event last week We
had amazing weather and all of our students put in an even more amazing performance We saw
huge efforts wonderful comradery and healthy competitiveness in what was a great day

PampC News Our many incredible members of the PampC past and present were thanked by our school leadership for their hard work and contributions at the most recent meeting for PampC Day We were treated to a delicious supper by Mr Palmer which was really lovely as well as taking home some of our very own merit certificates Look out kids Thankyou Poynter PS for acknowledging the work done by our PampC A big thank you also to all those parents who may not be PampC members at this time but regularly contribute to the running of various events at school and contribute to the market ndash you are amazing and we are grateful to you Soon all parents at Poynter PS will be emailed a copy of the summary of results from our recent PampC survey via Connect ndash please look out for it in your email in-boxes Thankyou everyone who took the time to complete the survey as itrsquos given us a lot of information about parentsrsquo views of the work of the PampC and their level of involvement Happily the responses overall would seem to indicate that the PampC is broadly doing well at listening to parents and meeting their expectations At our meeting last week we began forming some action steps based on feedback received Some of the points we discussed were arranging more family-friendly events whether they be to fundraise or just to have fun in family groups such as movie nights Colour Run and a Scitech night There is interest to build more environmental sustainability initiatives into what we are doing in the PampC like setting up a Containers for Change account and running events with this focus for our kids We would like to grow the PampC membership and have plans to use our PampC Facebook page more to do this as well as to share our meeting agendas and minutes more widely if we can so that as many parents as possible understand what we do and how to get involved We also plan to ask more for people to volunteer to coordinate or help out at events even if they are not on the PampC We recognise that many people may not wish to make an ongoing commitment but are really passionate about a particular event or have a bit of time here and there for a specific task Massive well done to Ash Gasmier for organising another great Dadrsquos Night on the 18th June ndash brilliant effort again Ash and we thank you for making this happen not only for this year but many years previous This event raised close to $1500 for the PampC ndash a great effort A big thankyou to Class Coordinator Sandra Mohr and Year 6 Room 10 for their market stall held at the Farmers Market on 24th July - $583 was taken in sales Thank you for your great effort Sandra and to all parents who baked cooked and ran the till and the square terminal The Duncraig Lions Club ran the BBQ for us at the market during the school holidays Ten markets have been run this year so far and the PampC have been looking closely at the profits generated by the market as a fundraising activity Itrsquos clear that our stall is a consistently strong performer bringing in anywhere between $500 and $700 net profit each market However the fees we collect from our stallholders have not been enough to cover the cost of the various wages and overheads that we need to pay in order to run the market We would like more fruit and veg stallholders but they are hard to find now that there are more Farmers Markets around Perth even by our Market Manager who has many connections in that world Whilst we are still making a profit overall it is sitting around $1000 to date this year The gap between the stallholder fees and the costs should narrow over the next couple of months with what we have put in place However the PampC have voted that whilst the market runs this term we will explore what the alternatives may be for both a family-friendly AND effective fundraiser and put it to a further vote in Term 4 All PampC members who attend that meeting will be able to vote so please consider becoming a member in order to have your say It was great to hear that the 30 new Ipads along with their storage and charging boxes have arrived ready to be used across all age groups in the school half of the cost of which was funded by the PampC At the most recent meeting we discussed looking at opportunities to fund or obtain grant funding towards a shade sail over the new early childhood playground and a bike shelter to encourage kids to ride to school even on wet or overcast days

Here we are in Week 3 of Term 3 and another musically busy term This is the term when all the hard
work the students have been putting in finally comes to fruition in important performance opportunities
Performing in public gives meaning and relevance to all the hours of practice that goes on in your
homes behind closed doors and in the early mornings before school in the Music Room
Public performance contributes to studentsrsquo sense of achievement and heightens a sense of well-being
and accomplishment The festivals that we engage with offer an opportunity to participate in an
incredibly positive experience and many past students comment on the performance aspects of their
time at Poynter
I appreciate the support and encouragement that you offer your children as they expand their
parameters of life experiences by participating in the Performing Arts
Choir
The Massed Choir Festival is an amazing event that the students always really enjoy participating in
This is a compulsory event for the choir students and is a fabulous night of choral entertainment held in
the beautiful and acoustically generous Perth Concert Hall

The Massed Choir Performance will involve two rehearsals

The ABODA (Australian Band and Orchestra Directorrsquos Association) Festivals both take place in

performances The ABODA Festivals are a remarkable opportunity for the students in the ensembles to

Poynter PS French Cultural Day
TUESDAY 17th AUGUST 2021
To celebrate Languages Week the Year 6 French students are hosting a French Cultural Day on Tuesday 17th August All students are asked to wear red white and blue or to dress in French lsquostylersquo You do not have to bring a gold coin to wear free dress as we are not fundraising
There will be lots of entertainment and many activities for you to enjoy during recess and lunchtime
Year 6 Can Can girls (and boys) mimes and marionettes will be performing and teaching their skills Our Music students will entertain us with French songs We even have talented lsquoCirque de Soleilrsquo performers
There will be competitions including the Tour de France bicycle race lsquoboulesrsquo (French bowls) and the Euro lsquofootballrsquo (soccer) and lsquohandballrsquo shoot out Wersquore also holding our own French Open ldquotennisrdquo competition and the Poynter Musketeers will teach the basics of ldquolrsquoescrimerdquo (fencing)
Students will be teaching French origami how to make your own Paris Book Necklace French knitting French bracelet craft French Diamond Painting how to make a Paris stencilled postcard and of course how to make your own balloon poodles
Students can watch episodes of lsquoTin Tinrsquo in the Cineacutema Tin Tin or episodes of lsquoMadelinersquo in the Cineacutema Madeline
Yr 6 students will be demonstrating how to make lsquocrecircpesrsquo small samples of which will be shared with all students as well as croissants pains au chocolat waffles and baguettes at lunchtime These samples are complimentary however students will still need to bring their own lunch
Finally Year 6 students will be selling French souvenirs at their stall Years 1 ndash 3 can make their purchases at recess and towards the end of lunchtime and Years 4 ndash 6 from the start of lunchtime Please bring along some money We are not fundraising so we are selling at wholesale prices Further details including items available and a schedule of events will be sent out via Connect closer to the date Merci

We will be running our annual Book Character Book Week Theme Dress Up Parade on
Wednesday 25 August in the undercover area from 900am until 1000am
One event during Book Week not to be missed is the Book Fair This year
our Year 6 Library Monitors and Parent volunteers are selling books from the
Learning Discovery Larrikin range to raise money for the school Library This
event is an excellent way for the school to collect the latest childrenrsquos titles for
the Library collection Anyone may purchase a book to donate to the Library
and then a certificate of appreciation with your name will be placed in the

Poynter PS French Cultural Day
TUESDAY 17th AUGUST 2021
To celebrate Languages Week the Year 6 French students are hosting a French Cultural Day on Tuesday 17th August All students are asked to wear red white and blue or to dress in French lsquostylersquo You do not have to bring a gold coin to wear free dress as we are not fundraising
There will be lots of entertainment and many activities for you to enjoy during recess and lunchtime
Year 6 Can Can girls (and boys) mimes and marionettes will be performing and teaching their skills Our Music students will entertain us with French songs We even have talented lsquoCirque de Soleilrsquo performers
There will be competitions including the Tour de France bicycle race lsquoboulesrsquo (French bowls) and the Euro lsquofootballrsquo (soccer) and lsquohandballrsquo shoot out Wersquore also holding our own French Open ldquotennisrdquo competition and the Poynter Musketeers will teach the basics of ldquolrsquoescrimerdquo (fencing)
Students will be teaching French origami how to make your own Paris Book Necklace French knitting French bracelet craft French Diamond Painting how to make a Paris stencilled postcard and of course how to make your own balloon poodles
Students can watch episodes of lsquoTin Tinrsquo in the Cineacutema Tin Tin or episodes of lsquoMadelinersquo in the Cineacutema Madeline
Yr 6 students will be demonstrating how to make lsquocrecircpesrsquo small samples of which will be shared with all students as well as croissants pains au chocolat waffles and baguettes at lunchtime These samples are complimentary however students will still need to bring their own lunch
Finally Year 6 students will be selling French souvenirs at their stall Years 1 ndash 3 can make their purchases at recess and towards the end of lunchtime and Years 4 ndash 6 from the start of lunchtime Please bring along some money We are not fundraising so we are selling at wholesale prices Further details including items available and a schedule of events will be sent out via Connect closer to the date Merci

Poynter Primary School will be celebrating Book Week from Monday 23 August to Thursday 26 August
The theme is lsquoOld Worlds New Worlds Other Worldsrsquo
We will be running our annual Book Character Book Week Theme Dress Up Parade on
Wednesday 25 August in the undercover area from 900am until 1000am
One event during Book Week not to be missed is the Book Fair This year
our Year 6 Library Monitors and Parent volunteers are selling books from the
Learning Discovery Larrikin range to raise money for the school Library This
event is an excellent way for the school to collect the latest childrenrsquos titles for
the Library collection Anyone may purchase a book to donate to the Library
and then a certificate of appreciation with your name will be placed in the
book Classes will have the chance to attend the lsquoOur Learning Discovery
Larrikinrsquo Book Fair during their allocated Library session and will have the
opportunity to make a lsquoWish Listrsquo younger students will receive help with this
The Wish Lists will then be sent home for parents to review online at
wwwlarrikinhousecom then prepay using Larrikin Cash

Larrikin Cash works just like real cash and even looks like money Larrikin Cash is set up as an online

with your Larrikin Cash which you can either print out and give to your child

I trust the first 2 weeks of the term have gone well and your children have
settled back into a routine refreshed and ready for a big term Irsquom grateful
we could return to school as normal for Term 3 following the lockdown
THANK YOU to the whole school community for getting involved in our
Winter Warmers fundraiser for St Vinniersquos We have a very generous
community (itrsquos lsquoThe Poynter Wayrsquo) and that was on display once again with
the numerous items brought in by students parents and teachers as well
as monetary donations All the items collected and the donations were
handed over to St Vinniersquos and will be used to support those facing
homelessness and hardship in our community Irsquod like to especially thank
Mrs Guhl Mr James and the Year 6 leaders for all the support and help
organising the fundraiser and
lap-a-thon
Given all that is going on in
our nation and the world
around us at the moment I
have personally been enjoying
following the Tokyo Olympics
Watching athletes from
different countries achieve
their dreams and work
together for a common goal
despite the differing
circumstances is a reminder of the strength of the human spirit
These athletes epitomise the Six Keys to Success that we aim to
nurture in students at Poynter As your children develop these keys
perhaps one day we will see them compete on the highest stage in sport walk the corridors of
parliament or fly into space Dream big work hard and never give up

had amazing weather and all of our students put in an even more amazing performance We saw
huge efforts wonderful comradery and healthy competitiveness in what was a great day

PampC News Our many incredible members of the PampC past and present were thanked by our school leadership for their hard work and contributions at the most recent meeting for PampC Day We were treated to a delicious supper by Mr Palmer which was really lovely as well as taking home some of our very own merit certificates Look out kids Thankyou Poynter PS for acknowledging the work done by our PampC A big thank you also to all those parents who may not be PampC members at this time but regularly contribute to the running of various events at school and contribute to the market ndash you are amazing and we are grateful to you Soon all parents at Poynter PS will be emailed a copy of the summary of results from our recent PampC survey via Connect ndash please look out for it in your email in-boxes Thankyou everyone who took the time to complete the survey as itrsquos given us a lot of information about parentsrsquo views of the work of the PampC and their level of involvement Happily the responses overall would seem to indicate that the PampC is broadly doing well at listening to parents and meeting their expectations At our meeting last week we began forming some action steps based on feedback received Some of the points we discussed were arranging more family-friendly events whether they be to fundraise or just to have fun in family groups such as movie nights Colour Run and a Scitech night There is interest to build more environmental sustainability initiatives into what we are doing in the PampC like setting up a Containers for Change account and running events with this focus for our kids We would like to grow the PampC membership and have plans to use our PampC Facebook page more to do this as well as to share our meeting agendas and minutes more widely if we can so that as many parents as possible understand what we do and how to get involved We also plan to ask more for people to volunteer to coordinate or help out at events even if they are not on the PampC We recognise that many people may not wish to make an ongoing commitment but are really passionate about a particular event or have a bit of time here and there for a specific task Massive well done to Ash Gasmier for organising another great Dadrsquos Night on the 18th June ndash brilliant effort again Ash and we thank you for making this happen not only for this year but many years previous This event raised close to $1500 for the PampC ndash a great effort A big thankyou to Class Coordinator Sandra Mohr and Year 6 Room 10 for their market stall held at the Farmers Market on 24th July - $583 was taken in sales Thank you for your great effort Sandra and to all parents who baked cooked and ran the till and the square terminal The Duncraig Lions Club ran the BBQ for us at the market during the school holidays Ten markets have been run this year so far and the PampC have been looking closely at the profits generated by the market as a fundraising activity Itrsquos clear that our stall is a consistently strong performer bringing in anywhere between $500 and $700 net profit each market However the fees we collect from our stallholders have not been enough to cover the cost of the various wages and overheads that we need to pay in order to run the market We would like more fruit and veg stallholders but they are hard to find now that there are more Farmers Markets around Perth even by our Market Manager who has many connections in that world Whilst we are still making a profit overall it is sitting around $1000 to date this year The gap between the stallholder fees and the costs should narrow over the next couple of months with what we have put in place However the PampC have voted that whilst the market runs this term we will explore what the alternatives may be for both a family-friendly AND effective fundraiser and put it to a further vote in Term 4 All PampC members who attend that meeting will be able to vote so please consider becoming a member in order to have your say It was great to hear that the 30 new Ipads along with their storage and charging boxes have arrived ready to be used across all age groups in the school half of the cost of which was funded by the PampC At the most recent meeting we discussed looking at opportunities to fund or obtain grant funding towards a shade sail over the new early childhood playground and a bike shelter to encourage kids to ride to school even on wet or overcast days

PampC News Our many incredible members of the PampC past and present were thanked by our school leadership for their hard work and contributions at the most recent meeting for PampC Day We were treated to a delicious supper by Mr Palmer which was really lovely as well as taking home some of our very own merit certificates Look out kids Thankyou Poynter PS for acknowledging the work done by our PampC A big thank you also to all those parents who may not be PampC members at this time but regularly contribute to the running of various events at school and contribute to the market ndash you are amazing and we are grateful to you Soon all parents at Poynter PS will be emailed a copy of the summary of results from our recent PampC survey via Connect ndash please look out for it in your email in-boxes Thankyou everyone who took the time to complete the survey as itrsquos given us a lot of information about parentsrsquo views of the work of the PampC and their level of involvement Happily the responses overall would seem to indicate that the PampC is broadly doing well at listening to parents and meeting their expectations At our meeting last week we began forming some action steps based on feedback received Some of the points we discussed were arranging more family-friendly events whether they be to fundraise or just to have fun in family groups such as movie nights Colour Run and a Scitech night There is interest to build more environmental sustainability initiatives into what we are doing in the PampC like setting up a Containers for Change account and running events with this focus for our kids We would like to grow the PampC membership and have plans to use our PampC Facebook page more to do this as well as to share our meeting agendas and minutes more widely if we can so that as many parents as possible understand what we do and how to get involved We also plan to ask more for people to volunteer to coordinate or help out at events even if they are not on the PampC We recognise that many people may not wish to make an ongoing commitment but are really passionate about a particular event or have a bit of time here and there for a specific task Massive well done to Ash Gasmier for organising another great Dadrsquos Night on the 18th June ndash brilliant effort again Ash and we thank you for making this happen not only for this year but many years previous This event raised close to $1500 for the PampC ndash a great effort A big thankyou to Class Coordinator Sandra Mohr and Year 6 Room 10 for their market stall held at the Farmers Market on 24th July - $583 was taken in sales Thank you for your great effort Sandra and to all parents who baked cooked and ran the till and the square terminal The Duncraig Lions Club ran the BBQ for us at the market during the school holidays Ten markets have been run this year so far and the PampC have been looking closely at the profits generated by the market as a fundraising activity Itrsquos clear that our stall is a consistently strong performer bringing in anywhere between $500 and $700 net profit each market However the fees we collect from our stallholders have not been enough to cover the cost of the various wages and overheads that we need to pay in order to run the market We would like more fruit and veg stallholders but they are hard to find now that there are more Farmers Markets around Perth even by our Market Manager who has many connections in that world Whilst we are still making a profit overall it is sitting around $1000 to date this year The gap between the stallholder fees and the costs should narrow over the next couple of months with what we have put in place However the PampC have voted that whilst the market runs this term we will explore what the alternatives may be for both a family-friendly AND effective fundraiser and put it to a further vote in Term 4 All PampC members who attend that meeting will be able to vote so please consider becoming a member in order to have your say It was great to hear that the 30 new Ipads along with their storage and charging boxes have arrived ready to be used across all age groups in the school half of the cost of which was funded by the PampC At the most recent meeting we discussed looking at opportunities to fund or obtain grant funding towards a shade sail over the new early childhood playground and a bike shelter to encourage kids to ride to school even on wet or overcast days

2021 House Cross Country Results
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the House Cross Country event last week We
had amazing weather and all of our students put in an even more amazing performance We saw
huge efforts wonderful comradery and healthy competitiveness in what was a great day
Well done to the following students who ranked in the top 6 in their year group This rank qualifies
them for the Interschool Cross Country event to be held at Davalia Primary School on 10 August
