We ‘Felt’:
That illiteracy is a big social evil prevailing and it has gripped our village so badly. Many children don’t go to any school while they waste their golden time childhood in other activities such as laboring in farming, cattle feeding, domestic works and care taking of younger's.
We ‘Felt’:
One day some of students of class fifth were talking about those children whose are not going to any school. They told that some of those children want to go to school but they can't. Most of them are busy with cattle feeding, agriculture, family work, care taking of younger's etc. Some of parents don’t want to send their girl child to school due to traditional thinking like the girl will not live with them. She will go to another home. She will not earn money for them. Girls have to maintain domestic work only. When the teacher suggested the students to try to connect them to school they took it as challenge and committed to do.
We ‘Imagined’:
approximately 35 - 40 children age of 6 - 14 years are not going to school. We are trying to connect them to any school. We have discussed that the education is not only for getting a job but it is important for self development. we had made planning for connect the children to the school.
We ‘Did’:
We went to the community to find out those children whose are not going to any school. We talked them about why they are not studying. Then some of children told about their family problem, finance problem, farming work, parents busy in farm they have to maintain domestic works etc. We told them benefits of school education. we also told about govt. Policies about free education.
We ‘Did’:
We ‘Did’:
We went to their parents and asked them why they don’t support their students getting education in school. They told own problem and also told that there is no any special benefit of education. Education is only for rich families, they are poor and harassed by community. Their children will have to do cattle feeding, farming, stone cutting in mines and labouring.
We ‘Did’:
Then we made understand them about education in detail. If they will get educate they can be confident and self developed, most of the educated persons are in administration services, and in good industries. Our government provides facilities schools in every area where we belong to.
We ‘Did’:
We ‘Did’:
We organized a rally through the village and role play to sensitize people against this evil. We persuaded the parents, who had already got their children engaged, not to get their children busy with other activities and succeeded in getting the commitment letter filled by them.
