Increasing the discoverability of streaming video from SAGE Knowledge on your campus

The following outlines suggested steps and additional information that will help ensure your users can easily locate the streaming video hosted in the SAGE Knowledge platform.

Adding SAGE Video to your catalogue and library websites

SAGE Video (http://sk.sagepub.com/video ) is a set of streaming video collections in the social sciences, created for use across higher education. SAGE Video combines originally commissioned material with licensed videos in the areas of Education, Media & Communications and Counseling & Psychotherapy. Therefore:

o We suggest cataloguing SAGE Video as a database, in your A-to-Z and/or subject listings – such as Communications/Media, Psychotherapy/Counseling, and Education.

o Product help can be found in our Frequently Asked Questions page. If you need SAGE Video brochures or other materials, visit our Librarian Resources page or please contact us at [email protected].

o The following is a short description of SAGE Video for your users: SAGE Video supports the teaching and learning needs of undergraduate students, through to the needs of the academic researcher within Counseling and Psychotherapy, Communication and Media Studies, and Education. With new and original video productions, including contributions from our book and journal editors and authors across the world, SAGE Video offers quick definitions, short tutorials and in-depth interviews for a range of academic viewpoints. It also features extensive footage of practitioners in real-life professional settings designed to illustrate best practice and provide a unique insight for students to master the theory, skills and techniques needed to succeed.

MARC records for each video at the title level are available for download to your catalog on our Librarian Resources page.

SAGE Video metadata is delivered weekly to e-resource management services, such as those provided by the following organizations:

o Serials Solutions (360 Core, etc.); CUFTS; EBSCOs; Ex Libris (SFX, Alma, etc.); OCLC; and TD-Net

SAGE Video includes embed codes for easy addition to your virtual learning environments. Supported systems are:

o Blackboardo Moodleo Brightspace

Finding SAGE Video through discovery services and search engines

SAGE Video will be fully indexed by third-party discovery products and services by early 2016, including:o ProQuest (Summon)o EBSCO Discovery Serviceo Ex Libris (Primo)o OCLC WorldCat Local
