This has involved organisational re-structuring, including implementing a new computer and telephone system. These changes have been brought about to enhance the specialised legal service offered to their clients. With the three offices now linked together, a traditional, fully-personal approach can continue to be offered to clients both old and new. “We could not have achieved the huge changes needed at all three firms without the help and support of each member of our staff,” said Richard who is the managing director of the company. In April 2017, Lovedays Solicitors in Matlock was incorporated as a limited company under the name of Derbyshire Legal Services Limited. On the same day, the partners of Lovedays Solicitors, Richard Roberts and Christopher Gale, took over the running of Potter & Co Solicitors on Dale Road, Matlock and Andrew, Macbeth, Cash & Co Solicitors at 6 St Johns Street in Wirksworth, with the full support and assistance of outgoing directors, Andrew Cross and the late Chris Loeber. Andrew continues to offer his support as a full- time consultant with the company. Richard and Christopher, with Andrew’s help, have had the opportunity to consolidate the specialist team of lawyers across the three offices. In addition to the a long established and locally well-known solicitor, who heads the family department. Ann Bennett-Helps, who has been qualified as a solicitor for twelve years, has been recruited as head of department for Wills and Probate. Ann is joined by solicitor Christopher Seddon and probate assistant Stacey Plant. Richard is keen to mention that Andrew, Macbeth, Cash and Co. now has a substantial full-time team to ensure that the local legal needs of Wirksworth, and the surrounding area, are met, now and in the future. Christopher and Richard have now built a strong team of over 40 employees, covering a comprehensive range of legal services. They are keen to retain the separate office names of Lovedays Solicitors, Potter & Co. Solicitors and Andrew, Macbeth Cash & Co. Solicitors for historical reasons. Many of the existing clients have enjoyed long-lasting and loyal relationships with these practices and long may it continue! It is important to note that all services offered by the firm can be accessed at all three offices. The positive link of the three offices could not have been achieved without the involvement, support and care of Chris Loeber, who tragically passed away in March 2017. Chris was well known in the local community – both from a professional and private standpoint: he will be particularly well remembered for his involvement with the Matlock Rugby Club over many years. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Chris was heavily involved in the transfer of the business which he and Andrew had so carefully nurtured over the years. “He will remain in all of our memories as such an open, warm and supportive character and we will endeavour to ensure that his and Andrew Cross’s legacy remains strongly prevalent in the future” said Richard. Richard Roberts was fortunate enough to have a work experience week at Lovedays Solicitors some 25 years or so ago as a pupil from Highfields School. Afterwards he decided that studying law was the right career for him and was subsequently offered a training contract with the firm after University and Law School. He completed his training at the firm and later became a partner of Loveday Solicitors. Now, in conjunction with Christopher Gale, he is working to ensure that the clients of Matlock, Wirksworth and surrounding areas are offered a full range of professional legal services. Both Richard and Christopher are implementing a work experience programme with Wirksworth’s Anthony Gell School and Matlock’s Highfields School. residential conveyancing knowledge in the local area.
