Channel your inner Bruce Lee, become part of the action or simply watch as the legend unfolds. 12.45pm & 3.30pm The Market Square, FREE Ockham’s Razor presents BELLY OF THE WHALE The performers, like surfers on a wild sea, ride a giant semi-circular see-saw made of wood and steel which creaks and groans as it transforms from a catapult, a gently rocking cradle, a tunnel, a slide – creating an ever changing land and soundscape. 12pm & 3pm Old George Mall, FREE Max Calaf Seve presents DIP Enjoy the comedy antics of this world famous trampolinist. 11am, 1pm & 4pm Guildhall Square, FREE Tangled Feet Theatre in association with Wiltshire Creative and Southwark Council presents BOOTS ON THE GROUND Inspired by the centenary of the mass demobilisations from WW1 and the tales of modern-day veterans, Boots On The Ground is a promenade headphone show which invites audiences to exchange their shoes for a pair of army boots and follow the intertwining stories of men who are stepping back from war. Can they find peace on their return to civilian life? Setting out from an Army tent in Guildhall Square, the audience form a unit, are given their marching orders and embark on a 45 minute walk together around Salisbury. The walk covers a distance of approximately 1.2 miles, but is walked in short bursts with several stops. Book your FREE place in advance at Salisbury Playhouse. A limited number of tickets will be available on the day. Recommended age 14+. The route is suitable for wheelchair users. SATURDAY 25 AUGUST 10am–4pm Salisbury Arts Centre FREE LIFT OFF! ARCHIVE EXHIBITION Celebrating the arts in Salisbury with fascinating displays and archive material from Salisbury Arts Centre, Salisbury International Arts Festival and Salisbury Playhouse. Come and add your own memories! 11am–4.30pm Salisbury Playhouse, FREE A SPLENDIFEROUS STORY EXPLOSION Familiar fairy tales performed in surprising and unfamiliar ways, in and around Salisbury Playhouse. Performed by Wiltshire Creative community groups, including Stage 65 Youth Theatre, Jigsaw Youth Dance Company, Mind the Gap, Dance SIX-O, Wiltshire Young Carers and Zone Arts. Also starring the irregularly ingenius (misspelling intentional!) Herr Grimm, the great, great, great, great grandson of one of the Brothers Grimm (the more talented one). Tickets available in advance from Wiltshire Creative Ticket Sales at Salisbury Playhouse or by calling 01722 320333. 5pm & 8pm St Thomas’s Church, Salisbury Tickets £20 (under 18s £10) PUSH A performance of the opera by Howard Moody Performed by Salisbury Festival Chorus and La Folia Orchestra An opera by Howard Moody telling the story of Simon Gronowski, whose mother pushed him off a train bound for Auschwitz in 1943 in order to save his life. Commissioned by Battle Festival and Glyndebourne Opera, there will be two performances in the atmospheric setting of St Thomas’s Church. ‘This opera should be compulsory viewing by all adults and children, to ensure that such events must never again be allowed to happen’ (review of première 2016) A La Folia Production in association with Wiltshire Creative.
