WelcomeI love the arrival of a new season... It’s hard to pick which one Ienjoy the most – each time the new one arrives, I remember itsbeauty and forget the previous one whose qualities have started todim. Giovanna Fletcher

Well, I hope that you haven’t already forgotten the qualities of ourprevious seasons, but welcome to our new look Spring/Summerbrochure. It’s a little bit longer as we’ve moved from four to threebrochures annually, giving you a bit more to read and a bit moretime to plan your social calendar! We’ve rearranged things a bit too,grouping the events by category, which I hope makes it easier tonavigate. What hasn’t changed is the wide spread of ourprogramme, from comedy to lectures on nature, Japanesedrummers to the beautiful colour/music sensory space and as muchmusic as you can shake a guitar at! Be sure to have a look at thetheatre we have on offer this season, with special ticket deals on theGeorge Room Theatre Season. There are a couple of excellentperformances to mark the centenary of the start of the Battle of TheSomme in July, including Bob Fox, the Songman from the West Endhit Warhorse. We’ve got more for families in the school breaks andthe return of our Americana Festival. So read on and, as always,please let us know what you think.

Now EyeMusic Trust and The Subscription Rooms present anew installation – a colour and music experienceyou create yourself! For six days the Colour/MusicSensory Space will be open to the public andSpecial Needs groups at the Subscription Rooms.This is Autism Awareness Week and people on theAutistic Spectrum have a strong reaction to intensecolour and music. This warm, surroundingenvironment contains movement sensors which canbe ‘played’ with hands, feet or head to create allkinds of music. The sensors also control lights soyou can link all the colours of the rainbow to themusic. Each day there will be closed sessions for

This workshop is suitable for those whoenjoy the idea of drawing, regardless ofability level. It is also a good follow-upfor those who attended the introductoryday. We will experiment with usingdrawing in a more expressive way,including combining pen and ink withother media such as pencil and charcoal,and maybe introduce some colour.Some time will be spent looking at thework of other artists for inspiration andparticipants can choose their ownsubject matter or use source materialprovided by the tutor. Please ask for amaterials list.

Make a Green Man MaskWith Peter Garrard

Price: £40.00 (early booking essential)

With regular demonstrations and one-to-onesupport, Peter will guide you through eachstage of the task making it achievableeven for the complete beginner.

All materials and tools are provided.There will be an additional charge of

£15 on the day to cover the cost ofmaterials and a firing.

Peter will take your work to his studio andfire it to stoneware (making it frost proof)before returning it, ready for collectionfrom the Subscription Rooms.

Karl Grabham is a Gloucester-based artist currently exploringanimals in both Eastern andWestern storytelling.

The intent of this is to betterunderstand our relationship withanimals and how they can affectus. Doing so allows the artist tocreate compelling pieces of artoverwhelming in scale.

The Pop up Artists are a group of sevenGloucestershire artists who exhibit work regularly inthe local area. Most of us are also involved in music,and some are established performers at variousmusic venues.

We all have individual approaches and come fromdifferent disciplines which makes for interestingviewing. We work in a variety of materials, includingpainting, drawing, collage, print-making,photography and sculpture, all of which will be forsale.

Lansdown Art Group - 50thBirthday ExhibitionSat 23 April - Sat 30 April 10am-5pm

This exhibition begins the celebration of fifty yearssince the club began in Lansdown, Stroud, in May1966. This year one wall will be paintings depictingthe town of Stroud. Members meet monthly to shareideas, paint and enjoy demonstrations byprofessional artists. Stroud Camera Club has been providing inspirationto keen photographers for nearly 80 years.

Last year our Chairman initiated a Stroud YoungPhotographer’s competition which we will activelypromote during the exhibition in May.

These photographs are taken by people of allexperiences and using a range of cameras fromcompact to DSLR.

Foto Forum 2016Tue 27 June -– Sat 2 Jul 10am-5pm

Foto Forum is a small enthusiastic group of fourindependent photographers based around Stroud inGloucestershire. The members engage with eachother to share images and experiences. Their jointexhibitions reflect an individuality of methods andperceptions.

This 2016 exhibition illustrates a diversity ofinterpretation with each contributor conveying theirown creative message.

HOW TO BOOK: The Tourist Information Centre (TIC)and Box Office are situated in the Subscription Rooms andare open from Monday to Saturday 10.00am-6.00pm. TheBox Office is also open from 6.00pm on performance nights.

CONCESSIONS: Concessionary ticket prices apply tostudents, senior citizens, registered unemployed and under16s. Proof of status may be required.

REFUNDS: We are sorry but we are unable to offerrefunds unless an event is cancelled.

LATECOMERS: Latecomers will not be admitted to theauditorium until a suitable break in the performance, whichmay be the interval.

SPECIAL FACILITIES: Please help us to help you byinforming us of your needs when booking. We have

wheelchair access at the front and back of the building anda lift to all floors. The accessible toilet is on the groundfloor. Parking for blue badge holders is close by. There is ahearing loop in both The Ballroom and The George Room.

CHILDREN: No unaccompanied children under 14years will be admitted unless otherwise stated.

PARKING: Free after 6.00pm in Stroud District Councilcar parks: Church Street, Parliament Street and Cheapside.
