     Things Peculiar about Me

  • 8/20/2019 Incense for the Healing Mind and other poetry

    2/79

I believe in war for the sake of peace

As I’d rather die on my feet than live on my knees

And that every mind, in time, acheives

I want to realise my wildest dreams

And to swim these seas and climb these treesI want good tomorrows for me

From time to time I want a good read

I want her to say it’s you I need!", and indeed

These are the things peculiar about me

I want to, unleash the beast and, sprout wings

I want the perfect song to the perfect beat

I want to know better loves kissAnd a life which holds more bliss

And to be rid of passions disease

I want to one day be crowned king

I want to dance I want to sing

I want a family of my own to lead, and indeed

These are the things peculiar about me

I wish I could taste the loss in sin

I want to know I was born to win

#et I want to live life and to feel

#et I want some rest and to heal

$ishing fate gave better cards to deal

$ishing in all for something surreal

I wish fate and I would agree

I wish my limits would set me freeAnd I hoped we were like! %ut now I see

These are the things peculiar about me

    TruthStanding the test of time

It is the part words can’t describe

The truth, they say, will set you free

I only pray the world be true to me

I fare well knowing the truth on war

Every moral from the victorys' folklore

I take counsel I can say better for granted

To call lairs clever is truly madness

The wisest never argueThis implies each side speaks some truth

But the largest portion belongs to whom?

    Unarguably me and not you

    The king is always honest

    But answers to none

And to the best of my knowledgeDead is the chosen one

Truth is keen to cleanse the mind

The sting in a friend’s joke

It is what makes me wonder why

These lies so often take hold

It is good to be wise

    And wise to be good

    Real eyes realize real lies

And all that much is true

Truth is all I have to say

    The key unlocking fate

The tree bearing fruits of grace

    Good seed longing a place

    It’s the sermon to preach

    It’s the lesson to teach

Hidden like a drop in the sea

    To counter worldly philosophy

You are scared to learn as you fear the truth

But if only you knewTruth resides in a perfect conscience

All else is truly perfect nonsense

Truth is a guide for life

Pray we all don’t live a lie

For Truth promises more than wealth

If only humans were true to self

The Truth of lies is void

Cursed is he with lies doth join

The full truth is a lighted candle

Half-truths for destruction are truly ample

A man may dream; No lie

The flesh is weak: No lie

The restless soul is searching: No lie

The truth will embolden: No lie

    Promising to unveil the eyes

Truth gives sight to the blind

A precious flower amidst the weeds

Truth, is the air I long to breathe

In its simplicity truth is concealedSeek it and it is revealed

Light in the abyss of darkness

But some questions must remain unanswered

While deceitful, truth is drawn from people

    Truth in a babies cry

It stems from a fine Kings strideAnd generous in a ladies eyes

    Coming in varied styles

Truth translates in wisdom or wiles

    Truth revealed Truth unknown

Truth that’s seen Truth that’s spoken

Truth concealed, truth in the open

Truth that’s real, truth hoped for

Truth that heals, truth that harbors

Truth for me, truth for us all

Truth sacrificed at the altar of fear or favor

Comes round to poison our neighbor

What is truth but honesty’s mother?

Let’s be true to one another

Truth is the third side to every story

A doctrine to be kept holy

Pure and golden distilled seven times

Such is truth devoid of all lies

A tool to discard all illusions

Prophets message from the futureThe truth is clear in its mission

Its reverse isn’t lies but confusion

A lie is a lie and a dissenter

Truth is light declined to enter

    But better you both together

To you blinded and blind forever

No secrets exist; only facts we neglect

No lies but what we choose to hear

    Nothing new under the sun

    Nothing dearer than truthful words

Half of all theses are true with paradoxAll independent of “ifs or buts”

I find in the worthy pages

    A Saint within the sages

What a bachelor sees from the ground

The elderly cannot from a treetop

What good is it being honest now?

Every lie will dig deep a rut

My smiles won't make your opinion candid

The insightful words are one half magic

My words of truth do a world of good

    Truth is the sweetest honey

For some others, a bitter tonic

Some truth hurts and some lies heal

My only wish is that I die real

Evil is a liar more than a thief

Knowledge not ignorance does give bliss

For truth is treasure in Jars of Clay

May the truthful lead the way

    Time

#esterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery Take hold of Time and proclaim a victory

Today is a gift that’s why it’s called the presentA person of all Times is called a legend #et in solitude the clock hands move slowly

The hourglass 9sand is patiently falling Time for a blink can never be bought

I take time o: then back to work #et times forget timeless lawsAnd I pray better times to comeMetal to rust and Man to dust

4ome aws partial and this life un1ust Time is cruel to all of us

4ome investment in time for you and me

I am lost on the path to finding myself

I went through fire and arrived at hellThe moral compass led me yet I wander

Numbers without abundance make one wonder

Home is not a place but a feeling

I possess not the stamina within

I played it all or nothing; twas all for nothing

My dreams haunt me twice as often

Calculative measures become mistakes in turn

It is hopeless in every way but one

    There’s an eternity upon me

And one is bold or forgotten

It was never a race but an open cage

Burnt by sunrays and beaten by rain

Four steps forward then five steps back

Home is anywhere I lay my hat

Cowardice is patience out of place

Addicted to sadness of way leading to way

I am not comforted by words you sayToo costly is the fare I pay

I am accustomed to new places

I will not run in these rigged races

    There’s an eternity upon me

Does joy first reside in the fool?

Three parts a maze and two parts a phase

Instinctive but uplifting is the craze

    Questions unanswered fed the darkness

Who would opt for an existence unending?

I am curious about the pain I felt

Do fate and justice even know themselves?

We should plan about how to help

But the wise as well act in stealth

There was just grief from bonds of pain

But I have prayed the joy back in place

And I find solace simple dreams

The Open Mind is like the crown to a king

You have plans to be redeemed

So planning with you is fine by me

It’s time I got to know you very well

It’s me, you; you, me and none else

We small talk and I hear wedding bells

But I’m not one that has dreams to sell

You live in a world which loves a plan BBecause the joy from plan A ever recedes

And plan C is the other side of that coin

But the personal path is the least void

Lamar knows glory is too affiliated with death

Kendrick can only regress to aggravated threats

    Each plan demands blind belief

And.more so. for those peculiar to me

Yet all these plans hardly need. a team

And indeed, will you bear my seed?

I plan with you because the flesh is weak

    Interlude

8iving a deeper perspective into by e5plainingevery means I consciously employ in poetry writingcould be a simple task0 I en1oy writing poems and

stories/ but right now we will focus on the former/Poetry writing0

%ecause this presumably re.uires more raw talentfor the average person and because addededucation is always a plus am including this section0I strongly recommend this for determined, would7bepoets0

This is a uni.ue editorial which covers more or less

what the other books didn’t0 My secret is neverpurchasing beforehand a poetry7writing book orattending a poetry writing class0

I started writing poems because there were a lot ofthoughts in my head which wouldn’t rest0 I keptthese thoughts in a 1ournal and learned to perfectthe application in poetry (rst then lyrics andphilosophical te5ts at either end0

As a CL year old would be ;ngineer, I have only an+ level foundation in ;nglish as a (rst anguage butno foundation in ;nglish literature as a sub1ect< notwithstanding it is .uite comprehensive0 And for themost part en1oy the thrilling section on

6espite what it seems these two .uotes, in thecouplet, aren’t intentionally related they arecentral on the topic so the relation is inevitable0 Ialso add that the rhyme for the (rst .uote in thecouplet came much later on in the process ofcomposing the poem, so go with your -ow0

$hen you have enough .uotes, you will have todecide between E types of poem0

    >uick 4tart C7 ;5ecutive line/ This uses a noun

phrase to sum up the theme of the poem0 And will

    >uick start D7 The blueprint/ &ere one chooses a

one or two word title to create a poem under such

as/ Truth, Passion, $ar, or @eligion0 And these one

word titles are e5pected to describe the title in its

    entirety0

Although if say you (nd that all your .uotes

centre on an aspect of one of these themes7

instead of the entirety of the theme7 then an

ad1ective is introduced to indicate this7 such as

There are blank verses which could contain contentfor poems, which have a standard, despite anyminor setback in the rhyming part of things0

In an ideal world, where the ne5t .uote rhymes with

the one which came before it, any unrhymed .uoteswould be used to title the poem0

First you start with a .uote which popped in yourhead

+r a clichN you spied o: the net

Then you may harness the brains inside

To (nd a match for which it rhymes

    $hat’s your Title'

There are many ways to name a poem and here iswhere you are careful as well as 1oyful0 In the caseof a multi7worded title, on a vast themed poemsuch as war you can have many ideas as to whatthe title should be0 $rite down these ideas as theycome many a time the phrase is what poems are

    made of0

+ne could easily write a poem on +ppression titled%ack to the wall"0 2ow with a minor alteration thattitle can be incorporated into the poem 7especially if bulk is lacking i0e0 My back is ever to the wall"0 Theonly thing left is to (nd a rhyme for it0

That is the advantage< there could be as many

potential title7phrases as lines which need to bewritten0 4o it helps when in a pinch to think of atitle, then another title, for your poem then usethese as part of the bulk0 This is also a great tool inweeding your poem and stopping yourself fromgoing o: topic0 0

If at some point you discover that the title for thepoem you wish to write is a noun clause such as/&armonies to my heartbeat, Tears from an old manseyes and Things peculiar to me0 And you areunaware of the format which you want to start with
