have different procedures and a high level of flexibility is needed. The FlexFormula Editionis ideal for processes where the only variations between product recipes are in the formulaand where execution sequences never change.

Both Premier and FlexFormula Editions facilitate the design and implementation ofsolutions that are compliant with 21 CFR Part 11, the US Regulation on ElectronicRecords and Electronic Signatures and are consistent with the ISA S88 flexible batchstandard. InBatch FlexFormula Edition

InBatch FlexFormula Edition is Wonderware’s new offeringfor applications where only the formulas change fromproduct to product, production procedures do not change,or only require small changes. These changes are handledin the control system. InBatch FlexFormula Edition offerscomprehensive history, reporting and security capabilities.

InBatch automates the execution of production sequencesand allows for fast changeovers from product to productresulting in an overall increase in production output. Flexible Production

Fast and Easy Recipe DevelopmentThe InBatch recipe management system is easy-to-use,allowing production personnel, without costly engineeringsupport, to develop and maintain recipes. Thus, yourengineering resources are able to focus on realengineering issues. The InBatch Premier Edition RecipeEditor provides a Sequential Function Chart (SFC) graphicalprocedure environment while the FlexFormula Edition’sRecipe Editor provides a table driven formula editorenvironment. Both Editions provide libraries for saving andretrieving unit procedures, cut-copy-paste and drag-and-drop editing features.

Simulate Execution of New Recipes A user in the plant or in R&D can simulate the execution ofnew recipes against the process model of the company’sproduction facilities. This addresses scaling issues and todetermine if the plant has the required equipment,processing capability and materials to manufacture therecipe. The InBatch simulation capability is also a greatoperator training tool.

Validate the Recipe not the Control SystemWhen a new recipe is created, only the recipe needs to bevalidated, not the control system. The control system neverchanges when new recipes are added. The time andexpense to re-validate a control system is enormous incomparison to the time it takes to validate a new recipe.

Simplify and Reduce Control Code with Premier Edition InBatch Premier Edition reduces the implementation andmaintenance cost by 40-60% by simplifying and reducingthe control code needed for unit-to-unit material transfersand unit control. Control code, implemented as phases, ismodular and structured. A phase is designed to do aspecific function like transfer raw material from StorageTank 1 to Blender 5, Heat or Mix. The approach of usingmodular and structured phases for both unit-to-unit controland unit control drastically reduces the initial engineeringeffort, extends system capabilities and reduces the amountof custom control code.

Reusable Unit Procedure and Phase Logic LibrariesUnit procedure and phase logic is modular and allowsusers to create standard control logic libraries enabling reuse throughout the enterprise.

Complete Batch History is Automatic: InBatch automaticallystores all batch history to a standard Microsoft® SQLServer database. All batch events, material usage, materialproduction, operator changes, comments, alarms andequipment history are automatically logged. A fullcomplement of standard batch report templates is alsoprovided with InBatch.

Model Your PlantProduction in a batch plant is based on the execution ofrecipes. InBatch recipes are based on the plant’sinformation and control capabilities, e.g. the ProcessModel. The Process Model defines the plant’s equipmentand processing capabilities as well as its control andinformation requirements. Once defined, recipes are easilycreated, scheduled and executed.

Batch Management

The InBatch Batch Server is recognized as the mostcomprehensive and capable batch engine available. TheBatch Server is responsible for all aspects of batchmanagement including schedule dispatching, batchcontrol, equipment arbitration, allocation and release,batch history, material consumption, material productionand runtime client management.

Batch Information Management

Batch HistorianInBatch captures and stores all events associated with themanagement and execution of batches. This includes allbatch events, phase events, equipment arbitration,allocation and release, equipment status changes, operatoractions and comments. InBatch also maintains an audit trailof all security system events.

ReportingA complete web-based reporting system, including a fullset of report templates, is provided. Based on CrystalDecision Inc™ Crystal Reports Professional™ reportingproduct, users can schedule, generate and view batchreports with any web-browser.

Batch Client ActiveX Controls

InBatch provides a comprehensive set of ActiveX Controlsthat are easily integrated into InTouch® process graphic

displays to provide operators with a very robustand friendly interface to the batch server.

InBatch provides scalable client/serverarchitecture for users to design solutions to meettheir needs. Architectural elements include:

The All-In-One Single Node application is onlyrecommended for small pilot projects and non-productiondevelopment systems. The All-In-One solution requires theInBatch Server, the Batch Information Server, InTouch andthe I/O Server be installed on one machine.

InBatch and InTouch ArchitectureRedundant InBatch Servers combined with InTouch offers acost effective and robust solution for high availabilityapplications. The Batch Information platform supports MS-SQL Server based Batch History and web-based reportscheduling and viewing.

InBatch, InTouch TSE, Suite Voyager ArchitectureInBatch supports InTouch Terminal Services Edition (TSE)and SuiteVoyager- FactorySuite® thin-client technologyoffering. InTouch TSE with Batch Runtime Client support isa very cost-effective solution for applications that haverequirements for a large number of runtime clients.Through SuiteVoyager, InBatch server information isviewed and operator’s can interact with executing batchesusing Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x web browsers.
