The Dorrie the Little Witch series was my favorite growing up.” 2 FINDING INSPIRATION: “The Ozarks have a very dramatic landscape with caves and cliffs and a lot of wilderness. There’s that feeling that you could disappear out there and no one could find you. This book was an opportunity to explore the place and bring it to life for readers.” 3 LOCAL HANGS: “Columbia [Missouri] is not a small town, but it still has that small- town feel. We’re grateful for photography’s ability to preserve

everyday life, and a new exhibit at the ogden museum

of southern art in new orleans puts our region and its

history on display. “into the light ii,” a series opening

march 20, features unseen shots from acclaimed southern

lensmen such as William eggleston and e. J. Bellocq. the

museum’s 45-piece exhibition covers vast swaths of the

south—from the bayous to the Blue ridge mountains—

and draws from all eras with images such as Birney imes’

1989 shot (below). his photo documents the vanishing

juke joints of the mississippi Delta. ogdenmuseum.org; $10
