A note from the chapter President…..
The Chapter is starting off strong! We had a wonderful Installation and Charity
Dinner hosted at the Maryland Club. The Board met for our annual retreat at
the Union League in Philadelphia. The Chapter hosted our Chapter Conference
Dinner at Biga on the Banks in San Antonio just off of the famous River-
walk. All this leads us up to just being days away for our annual Trade Show.
The Chapter raised $2,500 for St. Vincent’s Villa at the Installation and Charity
Dinner. This started a yearlong commitment that we made with St. Vincent’s
Villa to help support their endeavors, not just with this donation, but in assist-
ing with some of their activities over the course of the year. We are also plan-
ning on playing a role in their Annual Christmas Toy Drive. Please keep an eye
open for future information on how you can help us help St. Vincent’s.
The Board Retreat is a great way for our Chapter’s officers to get away together with a goal to bond as a board and
share ideas for this year. We also spent a lot of time preparing for the future as well. A special thanks to Joe Fulco,
CCM, CCE for his efforts to schedule the retreat and our host Jeff McFadden, CCM, CCE and his staff at the Union
League.
The CMAA National Conference is a marquee event for our Association. This year’s conference was our association’s
88th annual. The strength of our association was shown once again in the strong attendance. If you have not had a
chance to attend the conference, I would strongly suggest marking your calendar for next year’s conference in San
Diego from February 21st to 25th. Next year’s conference is sure to be a success because of both the wonderful con-
ference and the fabulous location. I would like to thank Nadine Rockwell, CCM for her dedication and efforts in orga-
nizing this year’s Chapter Dinner.
Michael Stott, CCM, CCE and his staff at the Baltimore Country Club are once again hosting our Annual Trade Show
this year. The Trade Show is on Tuesday, March 24th and additional information is available in the newsletter. The
price to attend the Trade Show was reduced this year to FREE, so register yourself and your staff today. Thanks from
the Chapter to Michael Stott, CCM, CCE for hosting the Trade Show and to our Chapter’s Managing Director Tina
Lutzi-Regler for organizing the registration of both the attendees and vendors.
I look forward to seeing you all at the Trade Show and other events throughout the year.
All the best,
Scott Lockwood

Welcome to the GBCMA Chapter….

ence in private clubs. Prior to joining MGCC, Gradina served as General Manager of Sylvania
Country Club in Toledo, Ohio. Prior to Sylvania he spent thirteen years working at Hershey
Country Club and Lebanon Country Club in Central Pennsylvania.
He possesses numerous professional certifications, with the most notable being Certified Club
Manager (CCM) and CMAA MID (Manager in Development). He is cur-
rently in pursuit of CCE (Certified Chief Executive) designation.

been involved in chapter leadership since 2007 and most recently served as President of the Toledo
CMAA Chapter. Gradina received his Hotel and Restaurant Management diploma from Penn Foster
School, Scranton, PA. He is married and has two children.
Audrey Ross-
Grew up in Ithaca, NY and lived there until she went to Virginia Tech to study
Hospitality and Tourism Management. She graduated in May of 2014 with a
BS in Business Administration with a Hospitality and Tourism Management
major and a Business Leadership minor.
While in school Audrey worked at the Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Con-
ference Center in banquets and her student chapter of CMAA helped her find
her summer internships at various clubs. Audrey has interned at Roaring Gap
Club in North Carolina, Chevy Chase Club in Maryland, and Cherokee Town
and Country Club in Georgia. Audrey was very excited to
return to Maryland for the opportunity to be a Food and
Beverage Manager at Baltimore Country Club.
Darlene Jones -
Is a native of Richmond, Virginia and moved to the eastern shore of Maryland in
1983. She worked as an owner/operator in the hotel and restaurant business for
17 years. Having a real estate associate broker’s license as well as being a certified

CMAA welcomed 56 new CCMs in 2014 with two from Maryland clubs. If you are getting close to the 300
credits necessary to take the exam I would like to encourage you to do so. If you
don’t know how many credits you have you can find that information on the CMAA
website. The dates for this year’s exams and Review Course are:
Proctored Exam: May 4, August 3 and November 16. To set up a local proctored
exam please contact your local college.
Certification Review Course: November 15 – 19 (Georgia State, Atlanta, GA)
Certification Exam: November 20 (Georgia State, Atlanta, GA)
The Certification Review Course is very beneficial, especially for those managers
who took the BMI courses several years ago. It will cover any new material since
they have taken the courses and will also help all managers in areas of club management that they are not
familiar with. Please take advantage of it if you are able to attend.

The Certified Club Manager …
In many professions, a successful career is marked by an appropriate de-
gree of professional development, verified by a credible certification pro-
gram and recognized by both the public and one's peers. The Certified Club
Manager (CCM) designation has been the hallmark of professionalism in club man-
agement since 1965 and is the cornerstone of CMAA's member recognition pro-
gram. It is a valuable and widely-respected mark of a manager's commitment to
professional development and the club industry.
Kent Johnson sat for The Certified Club Manager Exam, November of 2014.
His group was the first offered to take the exam electronically. The Certifi-
cation Review Course was a great tool and greatly helped him prepare for
the viragos test, “Definitely take advantage of the review course, especially
if the BMI classes have been taken over several years.” It’s a great honor to
be recognized as one of the 56 new CCM’s.
