Fasten the bottom Better-Fit Comfort Tabs™ first, angling them upward. Smooth the back of the brief across the resident’s back with your hand, pulling any excess brief to the front.

Be sure to press the tab down and pull backward to ensure adherence. Readjust until a comfortable fit is achieved.

Next apply the top Better-Fit Comfort Tabs, angling them downward. This technique provides a more comfortable and secure fit.

Use the following procedure for applying a brief to a standing resident

ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS AND PUT ON PROTECTIVE GLOVES

Ensure the brief is fully open. Position the brief against the skin with the set of tabs at the back of the body. Align the top of the wetness indicator to resident's coccyx to ensure correct fit.

Pull brief up between resident's legs with pad snug against perineum. Smooth side panels across the resident's hips. The front/back of the brief should be even at the waist. Gently move excess skin while positioning leg gathers into the natural crease of the groin.

Pull the brief forward, making sure it fits snugly into the groin area.

Be sure to press the tab down and pull backward to ensure adherence. Readjust until a comfortable fit is achieved.

Fasten the bottom tabs first, angling up toward the nose. Angle the top tabs down toward the toes.

Use the following procedure for applying a brief to a sitting resident

ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS AND PUT ON PROTECTIVE GLOVES

Open the brief and place it on the seat of the chair.

Position the resident onto the brief.2

Place the brief in between the resident's legs, being sure to get a snug fit in the groin area.

Roll the resident onto his/her back and unfold the flap.

Make sure to tuck the side panel between the resident's hip and the bed.

Smooth the back panel flat. Smooth the front panel. Bring the brief forward using the side panel. Do not pull by the tabs, but instead bring the panel to the front.

Be sure to press the tab down and pull backward to ensure adherence. Readjust until a comfortable fit is achieved.

Press the tab down IMPORTANT: DO NOT apply the Better-Fit Comfort Tabs straight across, as demonstrated here.

Pull backward to ensure adherence. Readjust until a comfortable fit is achieved.

Use the following procedure for fastening a traditional briefBegin by following the appropriate steps on the previous pages to apply the brief to a standing, seated or reclining resident.Place the tabs of the brief at an angle for better customization.

Ensure the stretch panel is smoothed over the resident's hips so that it is taut but not tight.

Press the full-length tab down so that it is parallel to the stretch panel (straight up and down, not angled). Pull backward to ensure adherence. Readjust until a comfortable fit is achieved.

IMPORTANT: For proper fit, the tab should be secured to the side panel. If the tab reaches the front panel, the brief might be too large for the resident. For maximum comfort and containment, please ensure the resident is in the correct brief size.*

*NOTE: If excess side panel fabric remains at the resident's side, ensure the resident is wearing the correct size of brief for his or her waist size. If the sizing is correct and excess fabric remains, it can be comfortably smoothed and tucked under the back panel of the brief.
