Archdale United Methodist Church 11543 N. Main Street, P.O. Box 4096 Archdale, NC 27263 Website: www.archdaleumc.com
In Paul’s letter to the church in Colossae, he says, "Above all, wrap
yourselves in love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
Each one of you is part of the body of Christ, and you were chosen to live
together in peace. So let the peace that comes from Christ control your
hearts and your thoughts. And be thankful. (Colossians 3:14-15)” We would like to thank Archdale United Methodist Church for the love that has been shown to our family as we have been moving into the parsonage. Thank You so much! We are really looking forward to serving with you as we serve our community and our world together with Christ Jesus our Lord. We wanted to share a little bit about the Van Meters. As you probably have heard already, I received my B.S in Meteorology from N.C. State Univer-sity. I worked for an agricultural consulting firm and then the United States Environmental Protection Agency. I had my call into the ministry in late 1992 and entered Duke Divinity in 1993, graduating in 1996. I have a passion for Jesus Christ and enjoy helping others find a close and deep relationship with Him. I have led 5 building/mission teams to Armenia, and I serve as the Chair-person of the Project AGAPE Board, a mission partnership between the West-ern North Carolina Conference and the North Carolina Conference. Finally, I love playing tennis, golf, hiking, and reading books on spirituality and sharing our faith. Laura, my wife, is a graduate of Meredith College with a degree in Math/Computer Sciences. She also received her Masters of Engineering in Computer Sciences from N.C. State University. She currently works at DCCC. She enjoys hiking, crafts, studying languages, and is a prolific reader. Our oldest child, Elizabeth, graduated from N. C. State University in Au-gust of 2014 with a degree in Wildlife Biology. She is currently working at a veterinary hospital. Elizabeth enjoys reading, British History, and working with animals. Also, she has been on several mission/building teams to Arme-nia. Our son, Ashley, graduated from UNC Pembroke in December of 2016 with a degree in Chemistry. Ashley enjoys soccer, basketball, reading, and video gaming. Again, we are really looking forward to being a part of Archdale UMC, the Archdale area, and serving with you. May we let the peace and love of Christ shine in our lives and may we find the only true peace there is, the peace given to us by Jesus Christ. We look forward to seeing you on July 16th.
In Christ, Allan, Laura, Elizabeth, and Ashley Van Meter

RECOGNIZE ONE OF OUR YOUTH!
Hopefully, you will see one or all of our youth doing something positive. If you do, please let Angela Chester know. Any time they are recognized, it reinforces what they have done well and will help them continue to exhibit the positive behaviors they were recognized for. The categories they can be recognized for are as follows:
Acted in a Christ like manner Participation and Effort Leadership Commitment Achievement
You don’t have to decide which category they are being rec-ognized for just let Angela know you caught them doing some-thing right! You can email her, put a note in her box, call her or tell her face to face at church. Once they earn 10 jewels, they can exchange them for a $5.00 gift card. Help them know you are watching and have recognized they have done something well!

Please join friends and family in honor-ing the Reverend Bob Dowling as he retires from being a local pastor for UM congrega-tions for 20 years and his wife, Debbie, who is retiring from her post at Randolph Health. A floating reception will be held Sunday July 2 from 2:00-4:00 at Concord UMC Fel-lowship Hall, 6009 Concord Church Rd., Ramseur, NC 27316. Bob and Debbie were members at AUMC when Bob answered the call to ministry. They will be moving to their home at Lake Gaston.
Norman Askew and Vicki Causey were
among those honored at a banquet held by the Randolph County School System. The
banquet was to honor staff who have reached milestones in years of service to
the school system. Norman and Vicki have both been recognized for their
25 years of service.
Thank you for your service and commitment.
Archdale United Methodist Church has been recognized by the Randolph County School System as being an instrumental supporter of Archdale Elementary School, John Lawrence Elementary School, and Trinity High School. We couldn’t help our schools without the help of our congregation.
Thank you for your support of our community.

cream and fellowship as we welcome the Van Meters: Pastor Allan, Laura,

Important points to consider for an AUMC Columbarium:
1. We make all the decisions about the design and who can use the columbarium. 2. If you wish to be cremated and want a place for your family to come and visit, consider
this option. 3. If you would like to rest on the grounds of our church and be a permanent part of the
church history, consider this option. 4. If you have family members who might want to use our columbarium, ask them to notify
the church office or fill out an interest form for them. We can decide to allow our family members to participate.
5. One niche holds 2 people’s cremains – Pre-build cost would be from $1000 to $1500 depending on the style of the columbarium we choose. There will be an extra engraving charge when we enter the cremains. With cemetery plots costing $3500 in some local cemeteries for 1 person, this is very inexpensive.
6. I am anxious to get started on this project! Talk to your family and see if a columbar-ium on our church grounds is a good option for you.
To help us determine interest, read, sign, and return this form to the church office, Cheryl Traylor, Bobbie Finch, or Charles Eurillo. I, _________________________________________, am interested in purchasing _____ niches. Remember 1 niche can hold 2 people. I understand this does NOT obligate me to purchase.
Continue to consider buying a niche in our church columbarium. If your wish is to be
cremated, it is a very economical way to have a spot where your loved ones can “visit” you
after you are gone. I know it is a big decision, but I firmly believe it is a great idea, and I
cannot think of a better place to leave my cremains than the grounds of the church that I
love. If you have any questions, see Cheryl Traylor.
