** OBITUARY **A godly life ended April 29, 1991 when Rev. Samuel Joseph McCain was

taken from us. We know he is at rest with our heavenly Father. After so much suffering the Lord took from him all pain and took him to Himself, where there is no pain and no burden ot a tear.

These are three steps to heaven — out of self; into Christ; into Glory. Brother Joseph took these first two steps in life and lived a beautiful life in Christ. Now he has taken the third step where there is no more weeping, no pain, no sorrow, no disappointment. We know he is satisfied now and that he is reaping his great reward reserved for the faithful.

His enthusiasm for his religion, his willingness to pay the price, and to do his best for his Lord was his life purpose. It made him a radiant and happy Christian.

He now has fulfilled that purpose and his family and friends, though they may weep awhile, should rejoice with him, and thank our heavenly Father for the life he lived among us, and for taking him to the land of Glory as He has promised all the faithful.

Rev. Samuel Joseph McCain, son of the late Samuel S. McCain and Carrie Sullivan McCain was born December 2, 1901 in Edgefield County, South Carolina. At an early age he found Jesus as his personal Savior and joined the Carey Hill Baptist Church. After moving to Fairmount, West Virginia, he united with the Mount Zion Baptist Church and became pastor of Rose Mount Baptist Church, Clarksburg, W. Va., St. John Baptist Church, Meadowbrook, W. Va., and Mount Zion Baptist Church, Montana, W. Va. Religion and education was his inspiration in life. He attended the South Carolina State College, Orangeburg, S.C., Fairmount State College, West Virginia University and Tabernacle School of Theology. He was also affiliated with the NAACP, he was a mason, and was named Strawberry King for the state of West Virginia for three consecutive years.

After moving back to his home area, he united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church of North Augusta, South Carolina.

On December 27, 1913 he was united in Holy Wedlock to Juanita Stewart.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Juanita Stewart McCain; three daughters, Rosa M. Bryant, Montclair, N.J., Florine McCain, Elmhurst, N.Y. and Kathleen M.
