First Reading: Isaiah 61:1-3 (To Comfort Those Who Mourn)

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

Page 3: In Loving Memory Of Obituary · the Cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great

to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a] 2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.

The Psalm 90:1-12

Lord, Thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.

2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever Thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God.

3 Thou turnest man to destruction, and sayest, “Return, ye children of men.”

4 For a thousand years in Thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up;

6 in the morning it flourisheth and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down and withereth.

7 For we are consumed by Thine anger, and by Thy wrath are we troubled.

8 Thou hast set our iniquities before Thee, our secret sins in the light of Thy countenance.

9 For all our days are passed away in Thy wrath; we spend our years as a tale that is told.

10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off and we fly away.

11 Who knoweth the power of Thine anger? Even according to the fear of Thee, so is Thy wrath.

12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

Hymn: How Great Thou Art O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made; I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander, And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees. When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing; Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in; That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation, And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.

Then I shall bow, in humble adoration, And then proclaim: “My God, how great Thou art!”

Second Reading: Revelation 21: 2-7 (Behold, I Make All Things New)

2 And I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of Heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3 And I heard a great voice out of Heaven, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them; and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them and be their God.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.”

5 And He that sat upon the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said unto me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

6 And He said unto me, “It is done! I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the Water of Life freely.

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Commendation Prayers:

"Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant Paul Kyegombe. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming . Receive him into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of saints in light. Amen."

The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be

thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our

daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we

forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us

not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For

thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory,

forever, and ever. Amen.

Concluding Hymn: God Be With You Till We Meet Again

1 God be with you till we meet again; By His counsels guide, uphold you, With His sheep in love enfold you; God be with you till we meet again.

Chorus: Till we meet, till we meet, Till we meet at Jesus’ feet;

Page 5: In Loving Memory Of Obituary · the Cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great

Till we meet, till we meet, God be with you till we meet again.

2 God be with you till we meet again! ’Neath His wings protecting hide you, Daily manna still provide you; God be with you till we meet again!

3 God be with you till we meet again! When life’s perils thick confound you, Put His arms unfailing round you; God be with you till we meet again!

4 God be with you till we meet again! Keep love’s banner floating o’er you, Smite death’s threatening wave before you; God be with you till we meet again!
