Staying Connected
PAMBRUN
MissionsConference
By Liam FlatenFirst Year - Sunnybrae
Missions Conference weekend was quite eventful. I was constantly reminded that we are weak, like a “jar of clay”, without God and without the Gospel on our side. It is God who saves and it is God who does the work through us. We serve humbly as messengers and teachers of the powerful Gospel. On the other hand, all weekend I felt oppression and discouragement in my pursuit of missions. However, in light of that, it was oddly encouraging because Satan knew that I wanted to pursue overseas missions and he was going to do anything he could to stop me. This affirmed the direction that I was heading, solidifying my decision to continue to pursue missions. So, here
I am Lord! Send me.
SUNNYBRAE
Missions Conference
By Chandra Hollands Fine Arts Intern
We enjoyed another successful Missions Conference this year! The weekend was well attended with 36 missions organizations represented and around 500 people in attendance. It was a privilege to spend the weekend celebrating the Gospel together! Proclaiming the truth through music during our main sessions was a joy! Our speakers, Darren Holland and Barnabas Mam, reminded us of the truths of the Scriptures and encouraged us to participate in the spreading of the Good News. This year’s conference featured small group and panel discussions addressing a variety of missions-related topics. On Saturday evening, Descendent put on a dinner theatre, performing Sounds of the Reformation, followed by our marketplace event. I was particularly encouraged by the opportunity to re-connect with alumni and missions reps.
By Dr. Daryl Kroeker
We are excited to introduce a new Master of Biblical Studies program here at Millar College of the Bible. This 60 credit hour degree will further equip church and ministry leaders to handle God’s Word in the context of practical ministry. This program is designed for those with an undergraduate degree which includes a minimum of 30 credit hours in Bible and theology and who are actively involved in ministry.
This degree is offered in modular format with one week of classes in January and two weeks in June. The January classes will be held annually at the Sunnybrae Campus in British Columbia and the June classes on the Pambrun Campus in Saskatchewan. The first week of class is January 7-11, 2019 at Sunnybrae with Dr. Daniel Block.
Each of the nine courses includes both an academic and a practical component. These courses are coupled with a character and ministry mentoring program as well as a final ministry based project or thesis.
I, Dr. Daryl Kroeker, give leadership to this new program, having joined the Millar team after serving over 20 years at Willingdon Church. In addition to directing the Graduate Program, I continue to serve as the International Director of WorldServe Ministries and teach globally with WorldServe Bible College.
Dr. Phil Powers, who previously served on the Millar College team from 1991 to 1995, is returning to serve as the Graduate Program Mentoring Director. The teaching faculty is made up of members of our current Millar teaching team and visiting teachers such as Daniel Block, Bruce Ware, James Hamilton, John Neufeld, Ian Vaillancourt and Patrick Schreiner.
The Graduate Program application process opened February 1. Please go to millarcollege.ca and click “Graduate Program” for more information.

Internship Program:
An Ongoing Need for Interns
The Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Ministries is our fourth-year internship program. This program plays a critical role in training students for Christian service, providing practical ministry experience. Throughout the course of the eight-month internship, interns take seven one-week modular courses on campus. Each year, Millar places ten to twenty interns, serving in churches, with mission agencies and other parachurch ministries, but the demand for interns currently far exceeds what we are able to supply.
Many churches in Western Canada request interns and enjoy being a part of the development of future Christian leaders. Some churches are not able to hire an extra staff member for an extended time due to limited finances, so they hire an intern for eight months. The internship provides the church and the intern an opportunity for ministry without a long-term commit-ment. Interns have filled positions in churches as small as 40 and as large as 3,500 members in both rural and urban communities. In many circumstances, interns end up serving at the home churches they grew up attending!
Not only is there a need for interns in churches, but mission agencies also benefit from this program. We have had interns in Haiti, Thailand, China, Spain, England, Peru, Mexico, India, France, Republic of Congo, Canada (first nations), Papua New Guinea and El Salvador. Many of these interns are serving as full-time missionaries today. We are thankful for the mission organizations that have collaborated with us to train missionaries.
Bible Camps and other parachurch organizations also utilize our interns. Many interns go on to join these organizations as staff after completing the program. Even Millar College of the Bible has benefited by hiring staff after they complete the internship program.
To find out more about our internship program, please contact our Internship Director Ed Johnson - [email protected].
