Regarding the Parish Hall we cannot forget those who staff the functions, attend to the electricals, fix the windows and keep the place clean. Special Thanks to the Cows & Sheep at Mr Montgomery’s Farm who kindly gave up their straw to decorate the crib.

Fr Sullivan would “like to wish God’s Peace & abundant Blessing on all parishioners at this time for their kindnesses & all expressions of good will.”

Bene Merenti Medal when Fr Joe arrived here over 5 years ago, a number of parishioners suggested to Fr Joe that a bene merenti be sought. After the explicit encouragement from the 3 (living) former clergy of this parish Fr Joe wrote to Archbishop Tartaglia in October 2017. Now finally, at 6pm Mass on Saturday 12th January 2019 Fr Joe will present Mr John Brown with this medal from Pope Francis for services to this parish & dedication to

the wider Church. Les trois choses blanches have never been far f r o m J o h n ’s heart: Our Lady, t h e H o l y Eucharist, and the Holy Father.

C o m m u n i o n u n d e r b o t h Kinds will be available next weekend. Please explain to any ch i ld ren you may have.

C h r i s t m a s Quarterly i s now due. Please p l a c e i n Quarterly box.

World Day for Peace Immediately after Mass of Mary, Mother of God on Tuesday 1st January 2019, at 12noon, we have a short service for Peace. This will be led by the Parish Justice & Peace Group. This year Rev Allan Welsh (of Cornerstone) will be our invited Distinguished Guest but anyone wishing to pray for peace, is welcome to join us. Pope Francis’ chosen theme this year is: “Good Politics at the Service of Peace.

New Year It is a laudable custom to sprinkle one’s house with Holy Water after “the Bells.” Holy Water is available from the Porch Area.

Finance This weekend’s Second Collection will be to pay for the Re-pointing. This is non-levied Fundraising. Next weekend the Collection will be for Justice & Peace Issues. Well done! the Anonymous Donors of £500 to help pay for the Re-pointing.

Tea & Toast on Tuesdays will resume on 8th January. Proceeds normally fund the Sunday 11.40am Mass Minibus Transport. We take this opportunity to congratulate those who organize this fine venture... Well done!

Crib Donations will fund St Margaret Children & Family Care Society- helps couples to adopt, foster & support children. If you would like to apply to be considered as an adoptive/ fostering parent, contact the Society at 274 Bath St, 0141- 332 8371 or try www. stmargaretsadoption.org.uk. Donation boxes are available on Altar Rails beside crib.

Looking back 2018 What was new? This year marked the 60th Anniversary of the Opening of the Church Building. Various Initiatives unfolded: a Look Back- Look Forward of 60 years in 60 minutes DVD & USB was produced, Holy Ghost Fathers assisted us in “Becoming an Evangelising Parish according to Pope Francis,” Archbishop Tartaglia solemnly Dedicated the Church Building, “Miners lamps” were placed on the Consecrated Pillars with “consecration crosses,” a Celebratory Booklet was distributed, a new Banner was commissioned & placed on the Bell Tower, a Parish Mission led by the Franciscans of the Renewal helped inspire us, we became a Fair-trade Parish, Bishop Moran (a former parishioner- War evacuee) led the Corpus Christi Procession. The Celebration of Confirmation began again- in P7. Margalit Borowski kindly spoke to us on “Being a Jewish Lady.” Fr John Lyons spoke strongly but compassionately on the “Prison Chaplaincy in the Bible.” We were privileged to host the Annual St Vincent de Paul Society Mass & Meeting and similarly the Friends of Blairs Annual Mass & Meeting. Importantly three new cleaners joined the Spic & Span Ladies. Over the year there were 54 Baptisms and we welcomed one adult fellow- Christian into full communion with the RC Church. Fabric highlights include the completion of the re-pointing of the Church Building (though not quite paid for) with the Cross atop the Tower lit up at night and one of the Pillars at the entrance driveway being replaced with consequent metal work. Finally 2018 has brought many blessings to this parish… most importantly YOUR continued presence!
