In his two great letters to Corinthians, St. Paul addressed the ongoing problems experienced in the Church at Corinth. These challenges included dissension, immorality, lawsuits, liturgical abuses and the tendency of the Christians at Corinth to fall prey to “false teachers”. The Apostle to the Gentiles tackled each of these critical issues with his dynamic and tireless spiritual zeal, strengthening the Corinthians’ faith and commitment so they could build up the Body of Christ. Two thousand years later, as we struggle with much the same problems, St. Paul’s words of wisdom are timely, pertinent, and valuable. In this study of Corinthians, we step back in time to discover two profound letters in which the first-century apostle and bishop opened his heart and soul to his beloved children in the Faith in the Greek city of Corinth. Because these letters are so intensely personal and heartfelt, they are among the most loved and widely read of St. Paul’s letters, and a key reason why we know him as well as we do. In this study of Corinthians, we step back in time to discover two profound letters in which the first-century apostle and bishop opened his heart and soul to his beloved children in the Faith in the Greek cityof Corinth.
