Phase entry and exit points

Project plan● Ensure your aims and objectives are clear and focused on achieving phase

Patient and public involvement● Evidence must be presented of early engagement with end users including but

not limited to clinicians, CCGs, NICE, patients and carers

● If end users have been involved in shaping the project, please detail how, and what impact it has had on the application

● Inclusion of public co-applicants is encouraged where appropriate

● Ensure your plain English summary is clear and understandable – it is often the first thing a Panel member reads, and sets the tone for the whole application

Research team and collaboratorsResearch team● Explain why the team is well qualified to run this project● Ensure the team includes the relevant expertise to successfully deliver the

work● Avoid including senior colleagues at low % FTE without justification● Ensure that you do not under or over cost team members

Collaborators● Phase 1 - not required but encouraged● Phase 2 - two different organisation types required● Phase 3 - two different organisation types required, one of which must be an

NHS partner● Collaboration with Clinical Trial Units encouraged where appropriate (e.g.

when proposing a clinical trial)

IP and commercialisation strategy● Describe all background and potential foreground IP rising from the project

(including research data and implementation know how)

● Provide an initial FTO

● Set out a strategy for managing any third party rights

● Provide details of the intended market, barriers to entry, and competitor analysis

● Include a sales strategy and marketing plans, as well as a pricing strategy

Dissemination and NHS adoption strategy● Describe the the outputs of the project and how they will lead to NHS and

patient impact

● Present a specific strategy for adoption of the technology into the NHS

● Include details on how your solution will be acknowledged, selected and introduced for use in the health and care service or wider society

● Detail any current and future barriers to adoption and a strategy for overcoming them

Video pitch (Phase 1 only)

● A 3 minute video pitch is required as part of the application

● Please upload the video to YouTube and include a link in your Stage 2 application where requested

● We do not expect professionally produced videos (you can use a smartphone)

● Please ensure the visual and audio is of reasonably good quality

Presentation and interview (Phase 2 & 3 only)● A 10 minute presentation to the Panel is required as part of the application

● It will be followed by a 15 minute Q&A session with the Panel

● Submit a copy of your presentation and details of 3 presenters (title, name, organisation, role in the project) by 16 June 2020 to the AI Award PMO (enquiries@ai-award.info)

● You can only choose 3 presenters, so choose carefully

● The meetings will be conducted via Zoom - if you cannot access Zoom, notify the PMO as soon as possible
