Nothing brings a little boy’s room to life like a bold shade of blue. Dark, saturated hues add a touch of serenity, bright tones liven things up and soft shades create a calm and soothing atmosphere. Pick a feature wall or combine a soft base colour with dark highlights. You can also bring in colour via accessories.

Both Resene Captain Cook and Resene Hemisphere are wonderful bright colours that will inspire your little one. Choose Resene Splat as a soft bedroom base colour, and Resene Submerge as a highlight colour.

Create a happy space for your kids with a warm and welcoming yellow. This colour can bring the sun indoors and lighten up dark rooms. Be aware, though, that too much of it, or the wrong shade, can be quite overpowering – so it pays to invest in some test pots to get it right.

Soft blues and purples are the ideal colours for a calm and relaxing room that will provide a safe haven for your kids. Combine several soft shades and spice things up a little with selected accessories in bright colours. Red or yellow toys work well, for example. Wall art is another way to add interest.
