About The Role.

Working at a fashion publication is a demanding job for all involved. It is a fast-paced, dynamic environment where speed, accuracy and staying ahead of trends is key.

Strong organisational skills are vital, and a good eye for style is es-sential.

Can you describe your role within the magazine? I am senior fashion editor, therefore I choose themes, clothes, models, and make sure that all our advertisers are well represented in the magazineWhat tasks would a typical day involve? Update our website, cast models, plan and produce photo shoots, go and see new collections at press days, see fash-ion shows during fashion week, meet photographers....What qualifications do you need to become an editor? An eye for what the reader wants to seeHow did you get to your current position? I sent my portfolio to my current editor in chief who liked it and asked me to fill in for a member of staff who had just leftWhat is your favourite part of the job? Traveling, researching outfits for photoshootsWhat advice could you give to interns wanting to work for a magazine?Never show laziness/wrong attitude, always say YES, focus on being as clever and quick as possible

Can you describe your role within the magazine? I am assistant to Anders Thomsen, Senior Editor at LOVE Magazine and also Dansk magazine. I assist him with tasks involving shoots he styles.What tasks would a typical day involve? Calling in looks from designers, liasing with PR agencies, re-searching looks, organising returns from shoots and arrang-ing things for shoots such as transport etc.What qualifications do you need? I quit uni during my degree to focus on work, I do have an art foundation diploma.How did you get to your current position? I finished an art foundation at CSM and did work experience for Tank magazine. I then assisted someone at Another Man magazine and from there moved to LOVE to assist Anders.What is your favourite part of the job? Assisting on set, and selecting looks to be edited.What advice could you give to interns wanting to work for a magazine?Work hard and efficiently, always be enthusiastic and focus on making as many contacts as possible, you never know when you might need them!

Working on a Shoot. Working on a Fashion shoot requires determination, hard work and or-ganisation.

Tasks allocated to interns might include:-Researching garments/items for the shoot-Going to Press Offices and making selections to be edited for the shoot-Calling in the garments from PR agencies to be edited-Organising and packing the clothes for the shoot-Steaming clothes on the shoot-Dressing models-Assisting the stylist with whatever looks/garments she/he requires

Before a shoot, everyone involved will be sent a Call Sheet, explain-ing what time to be on set and who to contact for details, addresses of locations etc. Below is a Call Sheet for A Louis Vuitton Shoot for LOVE Magazine:

Crack Magazine is a monthly arts and music magazine based in Bris-tol and distributing in Cardiff and London. They deal in quality culture that can fill A3 pages without getting boring.
