ABOUT THE POST:

Employing Organisation:Ayrshire Hospice

Job Description:A job description is attached.

Salary/Grade Scale:Band 2 - 15,512 to 18,284 per annum

Your salary will be paid into your bank account on the last Friday of each month.

Hours of Work:35 hours per week

Annual Leave:Leave year is from April March

30 days (225 hours) on commencing employment

32 days (240 hours) after 5 years service

For part time staff, this will be applied on a pro-rata basis and also allocated in hours.

Public Holidays:Entitlement is 37.5 hours based on the 5 designated Public Holidays per annum, and on a 5 day week working 7.5 hours per day. The 37.5 hours entitlement is due to all whole time staff irrespective of work pattern.

Pensions:The Company will comply with the employer pension duties in accordance with Part 1 of the Pensions Act 2008 by automatically enrolling you where eligibility criteria is met, in the Group Personal Pension Plan.

The Hospice provides a generous employer contribution of 7.5% of your salary per month provided a minimum 2.5% employee contribution is made.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. JOB IDENTIFICATION

Job Title: Driver & Warehouse Assistant

Responsible to: Senior Fundraising Officer (Community)

2. JOB PURPOSE

To provide a timeous and effective distribution service across the Hospice community retailing network, transferring goods stock both from the fundraising office & warehouse and between community retail sites.

To co-ordinate the logistical arrangements for the set-up and dismantling of a range of temporary community retailing sites.

To provide direct support to the Senior Fundraising Officer in the administration, organisation and delivery of all warehouse & related operations within the fundraising office.

3. DIMENSIONS

Provides distribution of goods service across the Hospice community retailing network covering a total of up to 12 sites located across North, South and East Ayrshire.

Drives and operates transit van and Luton van vehicles daily when undertaking stock distribution and collection and uplift services.

Works alongside a team of approximately 20 30 volunteers in all aspects of community retailing activities.

Supports the Senior Fundraising Officer in ensuring that the warehouse environment meets all relevant Health & Safety standards and complies with fire regulations.

Work with all sections of the general public and local community using a wide range of skills including communication, administration, and promotion to ensure a strong positive public image of the Hospice is maintained.

The Ayrshire Hospice is a specialist resource for those individuals receiving palliative care, who have particularly complex needs that cannot be fully met in their usual place of care. The Hospice strives to meet physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs providing the highest standard of patient centred Specialist Palliative Care possible while ensuring choice, dignity and self esteem and an enhanced quality of life and engages with family and friends offering them support and bereavement counselling.

The Finance & Fundraising directorate is responsible for:

financial governance, delivering efficient and well controlled financial operations;

all reporting and annual returns to Companies House, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, Her Majestys Revenue and Customs, The Gaming Board, the external auditor and The Care Commission, reflecting the organisations financial compliance with legislation and standards;

the day to day financial management of the Hospice including the formulation, implementation and monitoring of departmental budgets;

achieving strong sustained net income growth in order for the Hospice to meet its operational and strategic aims;

Identifying, developing and maximising a varied portfolio of income streams ensuring sustainability;

establishing and maintaining sustainable relationships to benefit Hospice income generation and marketing initiatives;

communicating the value of the Hospice both locally and nationally to raise awareness and promote services and as a leading provider of Specialist Palliative Care.

The directorate works closely with colleagues in the other departments and external stakeholders to improve hospice services for the population of Ayrshire & Arran, and to ensure alignment of local financial, clinical service, workforce and capital plans with the organisational fundraising strategy and income generation targets. This is achieved in an open and facilitative way to secure their trust and support.

6. KEY RESULT AREAS

1. Support the Senior Fundraising Officer in the preparation of a delivery and collection schedule for the distribution of goods stock across the Hospice community retailing network on a weekly basis. Prepare all designated goods for delivery, completing all relevant delivery and collection schedule records and where relevant logging the movement/transfer of stock within the EPOS system. Safely and securely load and unload the delivery van with all distribution stock.

2. Support the Senior Fundraising Officer in the set-up of temporary community retailing sites. Transport and set-up retail display equipment and promotional materials for each site as required. Complete handover of goods stock to volunteer staff working at each site ensuring stock records are signed upon delivery and return. Complete controlled handover of cash box or till monies both upon delivery of cash float and on collection of cash sales monies.

3. Uplift unsold goods from community retail sites. Ensure uplifted goods are removed carefully and safely, complying with relevant moving and handling procedures, taking care to avoid damage to the goods or the surrounding property
