PROBLEM • Children of the foundation who live withHIV/AIDS often deal with high levels of depression,sadness, and stress.
• Their life is really complex and usually gives them emotional feelings that are difficult for them to express.
HYPOTHESIS
• The implementation of workshops based on the methodologies of Clown and Art Therapy for children living with HIV / AIDS will facilitate their emotional expression and improve their moods.
QUESTIONS
• What effects did the implementation of art workshops have on the children at the foundation “Una Luz de Esperanza”?
•Would this program be effective for children that live with HIV/AIDS?
GENERAL PURPOSE
Apply methods of Art Therapy and Clown Therapy in children with HIV-AIDS at the Foundation "Luz de Esperanza" to facilitate the channels of emotional expression and evaluate the effects that these may have on their moods.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
Develop and implement activities based on Art and Clown Therapy as a strategy to
stimulate expression raise the mood level increase personal development develop self-awareness of the children of the foundation “Luz de Esperanza" that live with HIV / AIDS.
• Observe the level of stimulation and mood expressions
• Analyze and draw conclusions about the effectiveness of these methods.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
• Develop a campaign to getcontributions to cover the costs involving the development of this project.

•In children with terminal diseases, this therapy help them express the stories and thoughts that live and grow their minds.
•For over 50 years the Art Therapy methodology has been used in the UK and United States hospitals to improve mental health.

DIAGNOSIS
During the Christmas event held by the “Luz de Esperanza” Foundation, informational surveys were given to children, teenagers, and parents.
23 surveys • 14 to children and teenagers • 9 to parents/guardians
The surveys gave information about their lives, aspirations, and most common moods.

FIELD WORK
• The process was divided in 8 different workshops, in which both groups worked separately.
• Workshops were done on Saturdays and attendance was really good.
• Each activity was done with the accompainment of a psychologist, who did observations of each individual in each of the therapies.

CONCLUSIONS
1. Clown and Art Therapies provided psychological benefit for this population.
2. Throughout the process, elements in the life of each of the individuals that may be affecting them were identified.
3. Laugh therapy was really effective and this population showed a lot of acceptance towards it.
4. HIV was never discussed directly.
5. Group I had a higher level of emotions which they easily reflected and expressed through art.
6. The group of adolescents required a longer process to achieve openness.
PROJECTIONS
• Design of a budget at the beginning of the planning.
• Should be conducted with enough time.
• Laugh therapy should be implemented in more activities.
