In a poor and remote village in Gansu, a primitive wooden plank bridge was the only crossing for village children to go between school and home. They endured dangerous journeys day by day.
Professor Edward Ng of Chinese University of Hong Kong initiated the “A Bridge Too Far “(良橋助學夢成真)project, Sir David Akers Jones has been the Patron.
With more than a year of planning a n d m a n y d a y s o n s i t e , volunteers, professionals and students built the first “Wu ZhiQiao” (無止橋) in July 2005.
Since then, a new chapter started in the history of the village….

Objectives
By mobilising Hong Kong and mainland professionals and university students to implement sustainable bridge building projects, the Foundation aims to:

INTEGRATE Hong Kong into Mainland China by strengthening emotional attachment and mutual understanding; encouraging younggenerations to contribute their efforts to the people from motherland, and building a spiritual bridge to mainland with love,appreciation and mutual understanding through an inter-university initiative.

Sir David Akers JonesHon. Chairman
Sir David was the Chief Secretary of Hong Kong. After retiring, he became Special Assistant to the Governor Lord Wilson of Tillyon. He later became the Chairman of the Hong Kong Housing Authority from 1987 to 1992. Sir David was appointed as an Advisor on Hong Kong issues to the Government of the People’s Republic of China from 1993 to 1997. He is now chairman of a number of charitable organizations.
Prof Edward NgChairman
Prof Edward Ng is an Architect and a Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He obtained his PhD from Cambridge University. Since then he has been practicing as an architect and lecturing in various universities. As a visiting professor at Xian Jiaotong University, he is designing and building sustainable projects in the region. He was the initiator of the “A Bridge Too Far Project”.
Ms Leonie KiHon. Secretary
Leonie Ki joined New World China Enterprises Projects Limited as Managing Director since November 1997. Previously Leonie was the Concept Initiator and Executive Director of Hong Kong 97 Spectacular and the Chief Executive of The Better Hong Kong Foundation from 1995-1997. She was appointed Justice of Peace and member of the Commission for Strategic Development of HKSAR in 2005. In China, Leonie is a CPPCC member of the Yunnan Province (since 2002).
Mr Kenneth Chan Kenneth is a building surveyor. He is a past president of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management. He chaired Professional Green Building Council of Hong Kong during 2005 and 2006. He participated in the “A Bridge Too Far Project”.
Mr Josiah Kwok Aged 55, Josiah is Deputy Managing Director of Hopewell Holdings Limited, a listed company in Hong Kong, from January 2002. He is a lawyer by training.
Dr Nicolas Yeung A chartered civil engineer by profession, Nicolas has spent most of his professional career in areas of construction contracting and real estate development. His working experience and business interest cover major cities in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand. He was the Managing Director of public-listed contracting and development groups. He is the Convener and Founding Director of the Construction Industry Institute – Hong Kong.
Dr Josie Zhou Josie obtained her D.Phil from Oxford University. She has worked for the United Nations and international non-profit institutions. Currently she is Chief Advisor for the UN Development Programmein China. She is also an initiator of the Peace and Development Foundation, on the Advisory Board for the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation, and supports a number of charitable and environmental organizations.

Our Honorary Patrons, The Honorable Donald Tsang Yam Kuen, and Mr. Gao Siren, will take the lead and mobilise the Society to establish a spiritual bridge to Mainland China, and develop a harmonic future filled with love, care, appreciation and mutual understanding.
