IMW is a fine example of public private partnership, where the government and private together put up this grand event, showcasing India as a major maritime power. It will be a good idea to use IMW editions to analyse how the plans in the Maritime Agenda 2020 are being realised.

- Mr Gautam Chatterjee, IAS Director General of Shipping

IMW 2012 was very successful so people have elevated expectations from 2014 version. IMW has set agenda for the maritime industry. This time we all look forward to carry forward the agenda to ensure the concrete steps are being taken.

- Mr Shantanu Bhadmakar Immediate Past Chairman, FFFAI

As a FFFAI chairman, I will be extremely happy to be a part of this whole India Maritime Week. This will be a benchmark conference to show people how to develop this country as major maritime nation.

- Mr Debashis Datta Chairman, FFFAI

IMW is a unique event that provides the industry an opportunity to come together over a period of five days, allowing more than just traditional event participation. Over the last two years IMW has built significant momentum and is definitely one of the most awaited industry forums.

Dear Stakeholder,

It is with great pleasure that I announce the second edition of India Maritime Week, an initiative started two years ago with an objective to showcase India’s maritime opportunities and capabilities to the global community.

India is on the path of economic progress and needs to propel growth by fast-tracking regulatory reforms and implementation of projects. While challenges abound, so do opportunities. The time is right to hasten development of the maritime sector by building infrastructure and capacities of ports, shipping and logistics sectors, including freight terminals, warehouses, national manufacturing investments zones and industrial corridors.

With the formulation of new market-linked tariff guidelines, operationalisation of waterways, and PPP projects taking off, it is an opportune moment for all the stakeholders in maritime sector. Ministry of Shipping, Government of India is making continuous efforts to attract investment in the ports sector for augmentation of freight.

Accelerating policy and structural reforms for the benefit of trade will propel maritime development towards the aspiring goals. To address existing gaps in physical achievement of infrastructure projects, investments and trade facilitation and move on to the next stage of progress, India Maritime Week being organised from 28th January to 1st February in 2014, New Delhi will serve as a perfect platform to discuss issues and derive solutions.

Ministry of Shipping is delighted to be part of this initiative and sincerely invite every stakeholder to take part.

CONFIRmED SPEAKERSImW is delighted to announce Experts speakers from Government and Industry

Rail connectivity to the hinterland spurs economic activity and is crucial for exIM

trade. The existing rail logistics infrastructure is unable to support the expected growth of freight. With growing containerisation, rail-waterway intermodal container transport system gains further importance and the need arises for better rail infrastructure and capacities, especially, in the trade corridors across the country.

The round table will discuss:• Current rail logistics infrastructure vis-à-vis the

growing demand• Intervention of Centre-States in building rail

infrastructure• Allocation of more funds for a balanced modal

network• Hastening of rail projects along trade corridors• Creating integrated network for future freight

movement• Port Connectivity• Rolling Stock• Efficiency in Cargo handling• Rail Freight Terminals

India is the second largest exporter of agro-commodities in the world. To sustain the

momentum, the Government of India’s foreign trade policy provides a 5 per cent export incentive to increase export of agricultural commodities like wheat, rice, vegetables, meat and marine products besides other processed farm products. On the other hand, import of pulses and edible oils like palm is increasing owing to domestic shortage. To facilitate trade of these commodities from India to Europe and Intra-Asia, ports have started to create state-of-the-art infrastructure such as dedicated infrastructure like contamination-free berths, warehouses and dedicated transit godowns with railheads, mechanised cargo handling equipment like mobile harbour cranes, pay loaders, excavators, dumpers, weigh bridges, and road & rail connectivity with the hinterland. With containerisation of grains gaining ground, ports are now catering to this sector through their container terminals. As agro-commodity trade picks up, there is a need to consider the port capacities and infrastructure being created to cater to this market.

For special invitees only

Roundtables will bring together key players to discuss specific issues

Dear Stakeholder,

on behalf of IMW Advisory Council, I take great pleasure in inviting you to the second edition of India maritime Week 2014 which will take place at JW marriot, Aerocity in new Delhi, from January 28 – February 1, 2014.

“India Maritime Week”, a week-long event designed to position, showcase and develop India into a global maritime hub will assist the efforts of the government and industry in evolving a cohesive approach in nurturing our ambitions of shaping India to be one among the top maritime nations.

This conference is a fantastic and memorable event and has become the most important event for each and every stakeholder in the maritime industry.

Besides highly focused business sessions and thought provoking plenary sessions, attendees will have access to a variety of activities covering a large range of interests. Carefully structured workshops will provide professionals with the opportunity to improve their knowledge and awareness of the most relevant issues and contribute to advance feasible and innovative practices for action. Industry forums will flag the concerns of trade and roundtables will facilitate deeper understanding of operational issues.

We have secured rooms at discounted tariff rate at the hotel and we encourage all attendees to enjoy their stay. All in all, attending IMW presents a great value and an excellent opportunity to meet industry experts and learn about the latest trends in maritime sector.

Should you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of my team.

on this note, I, along with my team, welcome you and look forward to hosting you.

Warm Regards,

I am looking forward to the government announcing the incentive scheme which has been studied and recommended By ICC Shipping Association at the 2nd India Maritime Week.

- Capt Sudhir Vasudev Subhedar President, ICC Shipping Association

It’s very important to know that IMW is one of the only forums where all the different segments of the trade are being representated right from the service providers, the infrastructure providers to the users. All are meeting under a single banner and I am sure that the objectives of IMW of making recommendations to the government on the outcome of the deliberations will be successfully dealt with by the government.
