A57 road improvementsWork has started on a major road and highway improvement programme which will improve local transport connections around the Stadium and will make the new Port Salford scheme possible.

The road improvements will create better connections between Irlam, Eccles and Trafford, significantly reducing the amount of traffic using the A57 through Peel Green and relieve traffic on Barton Bridge. The main works include improvements to the A57, creating a new dual carriageway adjacent to AJ Bell Stadium, and a new bridge across the Manchester Ship Canal to Trafford.

TimetableThe M60 Junctions 10 and 11 roundabout capacity improvements have been completed and are already delivering enhanced capacity at these critical junctions.

Works on the Bridgewater Roundabout outside the Petrol Station at intu Trafford Centre completed in 2014.

The new Stadium junction works completed in the autumn 2014. Two way access and egress both east and west bound is available for all Sale Sharks and Salford Red Devils games.

The new lift bridge across the Manchester Ship Canal and the new tie-ins to the A57 will be complete in the spring of 2016 bringing the full and enhanced new road system into full use.
