    The pursuit of doctoral research should be made

    open and the recruitment

    of teaching and research faculty separately in

    Universities/Colleges

    terms o' ualitative and uantitative out)ut in research %!

    ado)ting de'ective criteria 'or admissions into doctoral research

    and recruitment o' 'acult! in "niversities and Colleges %oth 'or

    teaching and research (ith common )arameters in mind.

    Generall!, the candidates 'or doctoral research are 'ound %lan#

    (ith novel ideas even (hen uali9ed 'or "GC-JR0NET. This

    loo)hole accounts 'or the severe de9cienc! in research out)ut

    in terms o' ualit!. *t is identi9ed that )rocess through (hich

    research is )ursued is 'ar a(a! in the manner in (hich test is

    conducted at national level to select candidates 'or a(arding

    research 'ello(shi). $nd the test could not %e the same "GC-

    NET 'or lectureshi) and Junior Research ello(shi)/ (hen the

    nature o' teaching and research is di5erent. There'ore, this

    little )iece o' research (or# identi9ed the solutions to

    overcome these shortcomings in s!stem o' higher education in

    *ndia.

    Right to research& *t is human urge that 'orces man#ind to

    search and e+)lore the surroundings to eliminate threat that

    )oses challenge 'or survival. Pre)aration 'or com)etitive

    e+aminations that encourages cramming and learning things at

    random (ill certainl! %rea# the natural c!cle o' develo)ment o'

    thoughts in a )articular direction. This c!cle hel)s not onl! to

    understand su%8ect matter thoroughl! %ut also to search 'orsolutions to incum%ent )ro%lems 'acing humanit!. The time,

    e+aminations such as "GC-NET0JR could have %een directed

    to(ards learning things that (ould im)rove not onl! the

    "niversities. There'ore, the )ursuit o' research (ith the regular

    s!stem o' higher education should %e a %asic right.

    )rogram could %e tac#led %! introducing integrated course

    (here one is enrolled 'or )ost-graduate )rogram as (ell as Phd)rogram/. *t is State=s o%ligation to )rovide in'rastructure and

    man)o(er to )rovide 'ree and com)ulsor! elementar!

    education in the age grou) o' si+ to 'ourteen similarl! the

    )ro%lem o' rush 'or the registration into doctoral )rogram could

    %e handled through recruitment o' more Pro'essors to conduct

    and su)ervise the research along (ith )roviding in'rastructure.

    There'ore the )ursuit o' research should %e made o)en

    %!)assing integrated course and traditional national level tests.

    -'unded universities. $s )ursuing doctoral research 'rom a

    )rivate universit! is uite costl! it could %e di>cult 'or a

    candidate 'rom an economicall! (ea#er section to get enroll 'or)ursuing doctoral research. 3hen the chance to get a 8o% onl!

    on the %asis that 'ul9lls minimum eligi%ilit! condition 'or

    lectureshi) NET/ is uite dim, the e5orts 'or acuiring the

    uali9cation goes (aste. The recruitment as Post Graduate

    Teaching 'acult! PGT/ in schools is another route that saves

    them 'rom unem)lo!ment and the uali9cation o' "GC-NET

    )roves it (orth. *t is not (orth! 'or the candidates (ho are )ost

    graduate in management studies %ecause the! are ineligi%le as)ost graduate teacher. *' one has not %ecome success'ul in

    securing a seat 'or )ursuing doctoral research (ith regular

    s!stem o' "niversit! (hether "GC-NET0JR uali9ed or not it

    could drive them out o' research. $s a conseuence, loss o'

    interest in research ensues %ecause 'ormal degree is a

    )rereuisite to enter into the regular s!stem o' "niversit! and

    %ecome a )ro'essor or a researcher.

    Recruitment o' teaching and research 'acult!& $ccording to the

    criteria ado)ted %! M", the candidates (ho uali9ed 'or "GC-

    JR out- com)ete the candidates (ho uali9ed 'or "GC-NET.

    There'ore, these candidates are le't out o' the stream (hen it

    %ecomes hard 'or them to 9nd even em)lo!ment on the %asis

    o' "GC-NET. The recruitment %oard should consider onl! "GC-

    NET 'or teaching 'acult! and "GC-NET0Ph or Ph as research

    'acult!0Pro'essors. $s the nature o' teaching and research is

    inherentl! di5erent there'ore test conducted at national level

    "GC-NET 'or lectureshi) and Junior Research ello(shi)/ and

    should not %e same to determine the a)titude 'or teaching as

    (ell as research. The res)onsi%ilit! o' a teacher is to u)date

    and delivers lecture according to s!lla%us (hereas

    )ro'essorshi) means generation o' ne( #no(ledge. Creativit! is
